Sure you cant see it now. I gave a neg rep to a moderator who could see me at the time and ever since he has been holding that grudge against me. You don’t get hit by someone four times?

its stupid to hold a grudge against a particular user from whenever you could tell who gave what Rep to who. Fuck, even getting worked up about Reps is pretty childish. Mods/Admins should try to distribute rep fairly, but at the same time you can't say that their opinion should have no part in it.

Ok, so, moving on to a more constructive topic.
I just wanted to say that it is indeed confirmed that the 'report' function works. You can be assured that if you click that button, the moderators will be alerted about the post in question. Yay for forum features that work! Kudos to the two of you that reported the spammer today. Seeing as all mods are alerted when a post is reported, I thought I'd give some general guidelines for what to do in the case of blatant rule violations that you discover.
1) Are you a person who idles in the irc channel? Paste the link to the message into irc and type the names of any mods idling in the channel. Most of us have our irc set to recognize our nicknames, so if we're at our computer we'll see that we have a message in irc and come check it out.
2) Are there any mods currently online? Send a quick PM to one or two of them, linking them to the thread.
3) Neither 1) or 2) applies? Then click the 'Report' button and a message will be sent to all moderators regarding the post in question, and you can be assured that it will be taken care of quickly.
Please note that any abuse of this system will not be tolerated. If you just go around clicking 'Report' for random posts, you can expect a vacation. As long as we can see you had a plausible reason for reporting a post, you should be fine. Please do try the other two options first though.

Just to cut off any more bitching about the rep system here...
If you complain about rep hits in public, you will no longer be allowed to participate in the rep system at all.
If you believe that someone is conspiring against you, holding a grudge against you, or generally being unfair and abusive to you, send me a private message about it.
(I guess the notable exception to that would be "the bitching thread"... you can bitch about whatever you want in there, I don't care)

I'm still not acknowledging it until I see the silly hat I detailed on IRC.
Must be a fedora, must include at least 3 feet of moderately springy wire, and must have a rubber or plastic frog on the end, hanging at roughly face-level, free enough to bounce up and down when walking.
Until it happens, he'll forever be a "provisional" mod in my eyes. *glare*
