There was a topic on this a while back. Anyway, it's a ninja tradition to run like that. It's been like that way back since the ninja movies era in the 70s and 80s.

Also, because anime isn't real and they can do whatever they want. It doesn't have to make sense.
It's not a "ninja" tradition because goku runs like that in DBZ.
