hahahhaa, ya that's an awesome pic... i'd definitely watch a movie where Terra was a villain with a 1.99m dude as a sidekick (Pyske, you and your wife in the starring roles would seal the deal)

@smilealwiz: Was he a relative of yours or did you just ask to take a pic with him?

nah, i took that picture originally for my guildies (during a guild run if i remember correctly) because they wanted to see what i looked like normally while running around with them.

hence the headset! just easier to be on ts and play when the mike is connected instead of floating around somewhere imo

    @ smilealwiz

    that is one tall bloke!

Well, judged by his pose and expression I would say the knife between his shoulder blades did the trick...

Hey hey, come on guys, I'm a peace-loving person okay. What's this talk about knives between shoulder blades? :P

He isn't my relative, we happened to be in the same day-tour group. All I did was to ask politely.
    =)

Terra: Yup, by Gothic I kinda meant black.

I've noticed a phenomenon. I call it the "asian girl victory/peace syndrome".

Apparently, asian girls can't have pictures taken without making hand symbols of some sort or another. And that symbol almost always ends up being that finger-v.

    Take, for example:

On the other hand, EVERY picture of an asian girl I have taken invariably winds up with that symbol, unless I ask them to specifically make some sort of face, or their hands are full. For example, here's a couple pics of my boss (the camera isn't kind to her, she looks a lot better in person) shows the standard pose, alone.
    - even accompanied, it still comes out.
    - hands are full of another coworker, so no pose, but still follows the rule.
I've taken a dozen other pictures of this woman at various times, for various reasons, and every one of them adheres to the rule. Either she's got her hands full, or she's making a face (ie: angry face), or she's doing that.

Before she graduated and moved away, I took 4 pictures of this girl: with my shitty cellphone cam. I lost them in a hard drive crash. But I swear, all four, on four different occasions, with four different pictures, that same "v" pose. Her flickr stream is all self-portraits, either on a timer or in a mirror, and she doesn't do it there. But every photo I've seen her in that wasn't taken by her follows the rule. Hands full, making a strange face, or "victory/peace".

I don't get it. What's up with this? It's got to be a cultural thing. Can anyone explain this phenomenon?

I think it's really just the equivalent of a thumbs up or something. But you're right, EVERY asian girl does it. Take these pictures from my recent visit to China for example:

Note the V sign the girl is making. The guy on the far right is me.
This girl is doing it with both hands.

I've also got a great shot of the exact place where Smilealwiz took her picture, but I'm not in it, and there's no 6 foot guy...
So here's one of a busy street in Shanghai instead. Forgot the name of it, but it's pretty popular: http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/707...ure097bkd5.jpg

    Awesome trip.

Actually, I have done it before. Multiple times.

As for explaining it.... it's definitely an Asian thing. I've seen guys do it too. Over here, though, we call it the fob pose ^^v

lmao I thought that food was your tongue at first... scary

in Sweden, people do it too. Here, we call it the "pop pose" because it's usually affiliated with the alternative pop subculture. But nontheless it is safe to say that they have more or less stolen it from asians since it started appearing along with the fucking j-rock boom.

What're you talking about? That is my tongue...

    Actually, that was one of the largest pieces of sushi I had ever encountered. If you're in NYC, check out the restaurant called Yama... on Carmine St, by 7th Ave S, I *think* >_<;

Honoko : like your new hair style, the best one yet, and you look better in casual cloths, that work suite is no good.

sariane ; you look cute, and intreguing, but if you are a teller market please don't call.

TS : you are fooling yourself, the suite doesn't look that good

Sorry to burst that bubble, but all those pics are of me from a couple of years ago. Here's the current look:

I'm all about low maintenance and that hair is as low maintenance as I can get. Just wash and air dry. No combing needed. Hells yeah!

Haha that was a big compliment, thanks!

Here's a pic, showing the first month when we met, to 4 years later when we got married.

Ahhh...... reminds me of the days of being so young....

As for the hand signs it's sort of become my wife's trademark to do that in every photo she takes. I just follow her lead.

"Our hearts are full of memories but not all of them reflect the truth. The heart isn't a recording device. Even important memories change with time. They warp or fade, leaving us with but a shadow of what we hoped to remember." 天の道を行き、全てを司る。これは僕の世界。
