Zoids Genisis

I am accually amazed that no other groups have done this yet. Here is the first episode of Zoids Genisis
TV-Nihon. I don't know about anyone else, but I really enjoyed all three of the previous series and I hope
that this one turns out to be just as good.

Zoids Genesis - Episode 2 - Megami Anime

Megami-Anime? Apparently they are new and Zoids Genesis is their first work... Guess we'll just have to see if they're any good.

Zoids... I was really sceptical when I saw the first Zoids series (dubbed mind you, on American TV). I don't know which one it was, but I assumed its the first Zoids series, where the main character just discovers Fiona and the Zoid (cant recall its name) and the war between the Republic and the Empire. It had alot of cliches, but I actually thought some of the dubbing was done well and it could be more mature than what I originally thought (ew, pokemon), really surprising me. Some of the characters were also excellent.

But I stopped watching when they did a time-jump (i think they call this Zoids Guardian Force). And saw one episode of the new Zoids (where they're privatley owned semi-gladiator/mercenary tools) and I loathed it.

I'm willing to give this one a shot. Should be interesting to see the quality of this new group also

That one was Zoids Chaotic Century. That was probably my favorite Zoids series of all time. The dubbing was alright imo but I wish there was a subbed version of it around. The zoid that your talking about that Van (the main character) and Fiona found was named Zeke. This was the second Zoids series I watched (the first one i think was just called Zoids. Its the one where teams from all over compete against each other and all that. The main character was a junk collector or something, and used the White Liger) and it was the best one because of the story.

EDIT: Oops, I didn't see your post where you reviewed this Zoids series until just now and saw that you knew the name of the show, lol.
This fantastic Sousuke sig was made by the one and only Lucifus! Thanks man!

Well, up to episode 7 has been out by TV-Nihon

I honestly prefer TV-Nihon over Megami.

Episode 7 was great. The story is starting to pick up a little and its starting to become a little like the original series, which had a godly story to it.

Zoids Genisis

Editted note: I trash this show pretty badly in this post. But that is only for the first two episodes. Episode 3 was alot better, so maybe there's hope yet for this show. Episodes 4 & 5 were also better. Horrible first impression.

Watched episodes 1 & 2.

Zoid animation = good. Character animation =awful.

Script/Dialogue = Ok. VAs = Ok (two notable exceptions). Megami Fansub's translations = awful.

Concept = done before. Variations/extra elements = None.

This is qutie obviously a show aimed at younger kids. That's OK with me, as Zoids Chaotic Century was sorta for younger audiences as well and it was still pretty enjoyable. However, the plotline in the first episode buys into every anime cliche possible. The second is better, but nothing revolutionary or "Wow!" worthy.

The main character (whose head is as wide as his torso, typical of the animation for all the younger characters) is your "never left my small hometown, but I dream of piloting" stock character. The two Zoid pilots who show up early are "wisened veteran warrior" and "young, talented, female relative". Oh, the girl also has the most squeaky, high pitched VA you will ever hear. If my kid sounded like that I'd cut out her tongue. That voice is unbearable.

The enemies are unmanned Zoids from "oppressive military nation" who seek "precious material" that obviously the little town happens to have. They are covered in armor that "beams and regular firepower" can't penetrate. Think Phase-Shift, but gayer. The only thing that can harm these enemy Zoids are "Metal Zi", think Gundanium melee weapons mounted at awkward angles on Zoids. Obviously the main character's Zoid has these weapons.

One manned enemy Zoid shows up in Episode 2. The enemy pilot, who has a good VA, makes pretty good judgment calls is the only reason I might consider watching Episode 3.

The character designs are pretty 'blah'. Nothing special. The moving animation for characters and backgrounds is a real mixed bag. One moment it will be great. The next, it will look like the dregs of Naruto filler. The Zoids are CGI (i think they are at least), and designs are good (if you like Zoids, if you're just a MS person, no). The battle animation is pretty detailed and well-done. I'll give them credit there. That doesn't mean the battles are well-done. They pay alot of attention to the Metal Zi weaponry, which is mounted at such angles that I can't figure out how they're effective. The enemies breathe fire and have claws. There's not alot of strategy in the first two episodes, but we'll see in the future.

If I have nothing better to do I will DL this anime and watch it. I've already deleted the first two episodes, and if things don't improve fast I'm avoiding it like the plague.

I know I trashed this show (see above post), but I'm still willing to give it a little more attention before giving up on it entirely. So, with that said, this episode 3 better be fucking amazing! They left off with a cliffhanger last episode, and lots of promises of action, so we'll hopefully see this show's true stripes now.

Also, hopefully Megami-Anime has gotten better at fansubbing...

Episode 3 is LOADS better than the first two.

The action in the fight was decent, finally saw that his sword can move more. The blonde military pilot (what's his name) was pretty good, but don't know why he didn't use more flamethrower...

The animation is still mediocre, at best. Sometimes it's good, but then there will be inconsistencies in scope/timing, and the Zoid movement can either be beautifully done or really awkward. Sometimes the Zoids just look like they're being carried by strings.

Lots of typical "leaving home" elements in this episode, but they did it pretty well. I like how they presented the dilemma seriously, and all of the characters reacted pretty believably.

Episode 3 just bought my attention for a few more episodes. Let's see if it gets even better.

TvNihon got episode 4 out before Megami this time.

Zoids Genesis - Episode 04 - TV Nihon

I wasn't too impressed with Megami's version, so I'm totally mercenary in picking up whichever group comes out first. Its not like either of them are the best fansub group out there anyway...

This show wasn't as good as i expected it to be. The high point are the zoids, the rest is kind of decent i guess. At this point it lacks both story and characters, i think Ruuji is a weak main character. The only character i really liked this far is Zairin but his zoid is a piece of shit.

The opening song to this show is great, it's starting pretty slow but I doubt any zoidss show can be worse then Zoid Fuzors.

Episode 4 was pretty good. Some of the new zoid designs for this new series look really nice

The story is a bit slow, but im hoping that is just because its only 4 episodes in. Considering that this is a 52 (i think) episode anime, it should start getting better around episode 9 or 10.

Episode 4 was mediocre. At first I was intrigued by the new character. The twist was something I didn't see coming, but it fed into a pretty old anime character prototype.

I was glad to see some of the old Zoid designs are back. The Fox (makes me want to go back and watch Zoids: Chaotic Century, just for Irvine), the Scorpions, the Bird. Hehe, obviously I've gone and forgotten all of the Zoid names, the sole exception being Liger. The Snake Zoid remains one of my favorites. That guy came out of nowhere.

The action and animation is still subpar in this show. Is it a daily anime? I sort of get that impression because:
Megumi Fansubs (boy do they suck though) has released Episode 5!

Tv-nihon's sub seemed better to me than Megumi's, although both leave alot to be desired. That being said, with a show like this, whichever group releases episodes first gets me to bite.

Some reason I think the little girl will end up being a princess since she wanted him to call her sama.

Watched Episode 5.

This show is starting to grow on me. Its still pretty kiddy, pretty mediocre with some of the animation, but it's not as bad as I first thought.

Galaga made me laugh. I love massive, stubborn, hopelessly naive characters like that. Kotona has no qualms with maniuplating people. What a bitch. Even Mii was more tolerable in this episode. Oh, and the Deadly Kong is a beautiful Zoid. The fight ended so fast that it was hard to tell what was going on, but man was that a nasty trick Galaga pulled out.

Damn, Aeon has some kind of fortune-teller ability.

Zairin's back next episode. Other than that I think it's going to be your typical "protagonists unite against the common enemy" episode.
