It's because you're too scrawny since you rolled a 3 for your constitution attribute. You need to be sturdy and strong, that would help you fight illness.

Swine flu kills fewer people than the regular flu pe ryear. And the regular flu strikes every year.

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

    1. Wash your hands, soap and water, count to 20+ seconds (hot or cold doesn't matter). Don't bother with any of that sanitizer unless you can't find water, it's not nearly as helpful.

    2. Don't touch your face...ever.

    3. Sneeze and cough into your elbow, encourage everyone around you to do the same.

It's just conditioning. I've kept my phone in the same spot in my pocket for the past 5 or 6 years, so even when I feel the slightest of movements at the top of my left leg, I assume it's the phone buzzing.

Fuck, I think I must have touched my face at least 4 times in the process of writing this post.

<@Terra> he told me this, "man actually meeting terra is so fucking big", and he started crying. Then he bought me hot dogs

Aside from developing a strong habit of touching your face, it only applies after your hands may have contacted something contaminated. If you are, for example, sitting at home, it doesn't really matter (unless you have potentially diseased people hanging around) or have otherwise managed to compromise your last bastion. Out there, like at work, it's an unfortunate habit indeed.

That, as well as black heads. I have anecdotal evidence from people I know (and see).

I don't touch my face precisely because it is oily. I only get zits when I'm stressed I think.

Why the fuck do so many people insist on making as much noise as possible in the library? I thought of all places on a university campus, the library is supposed to be the quietest. Instead of that, I'm always surrounded by jackasses who take forever to unload and pack up in the noisiest manner possible. Meanwhile, there are other vapid asshats who have conversations either on their phones or whisper loudly with some other dipshit about the last time they got drunk, nailed some girl, or got nailed by some random guy, etc. When did becoming a dreg of society actually become something of which to be proud?

The common areas in the library are zoos. It's like a social gathering place for students that's not a bar. I don't study in libraries, though I think it's a skill you need to acquire to be able to work/study/sleep regardless of distractions.

Because in my experience, some of the dumbest people go to the library because that is where they believe one goes to study when at college/university. Most of those kind of people don't really even belong in university, they just do it because that is what is expected in their place in society, their parents are paying for it, and they go to college to party. They don't even have an idea what they want to do in life, and a lot of the them are Liberal Arts majors.

I'm generalizing of course, but this was my experience. Our library had group study rooms for discussions and talking, and they were either (a) empty, or (b) full of people so loud you could hear them five bookshelves away from the closed door. Everywhere else was the barely-hushed whispering and people talking on cell phones or not studying playing on laptops (not the commuters, this was at 10pm).

It doesn't work for everyone, but I got around to studying either in my academic buildings (Engineering) or under headphones in my dorm rooms. Music wasn't really distracting and I didn't really listen to it anyway, it becomes white noise. My roommate was similar, he'd study with the television on for the white noise.

The library never gets used for studying, because that is what a lot of the idiots think is the place to go to be smart. It rarely works for them, but most of their classes aren't hard anyway.

Disclaimer: I apologize for any individuals in the Liberal Arts who paid their own way into University or had a true interest in their field of study, European students who passed relevant entrance/placement exams in their respective countries, or anyone else who earned their way into and through college. I also apologize to persons who legitimately used the library for studying (often under the headphones just like me to block out the noise, and those who used the computers in the library to type their papers and written homework assignments. The statements made by Ryllharu in no way represent the views of gotwoot, the university he attended, or anyone else.

I used to find good spots to study at my old university but I haven't been able to find anything in the past 4 years I've been at my current one. And the thing is, I'm not sitting in areas where there are tables for groups of people to gather, I'm on the 2nd highest floor along the perimeter where there are single person carrels...which is only the 6th floor because this POS university only has 7-floor library. The 7th floor is even noisier, if you can believe it. After almost 9 years (on and off) in university, you'd figure I'd be able to study with distractions but I can't. For some reason my mind seems to focus on the most annoying thing that most people can ignore.

Maybe I should just get a new set of headphones. I used to study with music all the time, and I think I retained information better because I used to also get better grades then too.

I totally believe it. We had a 6-floor library (only four above ground). The top floor was always the loudest. That's where the idiots gather. They want the best view out the windows.

You need to find the microfilm. No one goes there.

I can never study at university period.

The clothes I'm in aren't as comfortable as home clothes, there's people walking around the place, and I can't be myself.

And I don't like study groups. I do things at my own pace.

This is strange. No matter how much I try to remember, I can't recall a single instance when any of the libraries of my university would have seemed noisy to me. I did study in a couple of them over the years and there was nothing disturbing me. Other people were also quietly studying or reading publications or something. Nobody was discussing or talking to a cell phone.

Maybe it's because you have to pass an entrance exam over here. Who knows. Or maybe I was just lucky. Or maybe it's because we Finns consider ourselves quiet people, even though that hardly applies to students.

I also think the idiots gather on the top floor because they think nobody will be there to disturb their moronic conversations. What's really irritating is how they think they're being studious by just being there during mid-term and final exams even though all they do is prattle on like a bunch of nimrods.

On monday I'll check the microfilm floor. Thanks for the tip!

I can never productively study at home because there are too many distractions...like Gotwoot, haha. And study groups are teh suck, I've also always been a lone studier.

What kind of clothes are you wearing to school? I always just wear my normal clothes, although I never wear anything "nice" because anytime I have I usually felt over-dressed so I think I can understand where you're coming from.

Which reminds me of the attire of a majority of university students, a lot of track-pants and Ugg boots. I could go on about how a lot of them are sporting the reprehensible "hobo" look, but I don't want to go off on a rant.

Just jeans and shirt or something like that. Maybe a jacket if it's cold. I wear more well-worn, loose fitting clothes at home.

Oh, and no shoes, while I wear joggers to uni.

LOL, jeans are all I ever wear outside the house. I don't feel comfortable wearing joggers outside the house, but then I only own one pair and I've had them for like 12 or 13 years now. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised they haven't fallen apart.
