You could always start fresh and borrow your dad's Vista disc if he's willing. Or is Vista smarter about multiple installs now?

His Vista was pre-installed... and besides, I wouldn't be caught dead with Vista on my computer.

External Hard Disk failed to show up under My Computer after the XP "dun DUN", followed shortly by the infamous clicks of doom. Luckily it didn't have any important data in it. Anime was all backed onto DVDs. I think there were just a few gigs of movies that are my dad's.

Annoying thing is I didn't even get much use out of it. I've probably only turned it on like 20times, and I'm pretty sure it's lasted no more than 6 months. I would so return it to Samsung straight away if there wasn't the problem; that is Dad bought it off ebay. I'll see what I can do about it. My other one better not die. It's still got all my lecture recordings on it.

A used HD? It must have been so cheap it won't be much of a loss.

HDs are really the one PC component not wise to buy secondhand unless the price is really good and you aren't planning on saving anything important on it.

I'm pretty sure it's not second hand, but I'll have to check. I'm just not sure if it was an actual online store that sold it though.

Plus, there's no receipt, and I can't find it in the control panel since it's been longer than 60 days.

    I found the quote

It was in the box, but I missed it every time I took out the damn thing. Has email, address, website, everything...plus a 1 year warranty.

One of my housemates keeps locking the front door, even when there are people inside. For example, he often leaves 5 minutes before me in the morning. He looks right at me, closes the door and locks it. What the hell? I'm going out too.

I don't know man, I gotta side with your roommate on this one. Too much could happen in that 5 minutes, and it would all fall on him for not locking the door when he left.

My sleep schedule is messed up. Two weeks of vacation in the western hemisphere and my biological clock was reset to US central time. Now I'm back in the east and day is night and night is day, so I've been up since 4AM local time. I'll crash around 10AM local, right when I'll be busy with work.

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

    Ah... that's gotta suck.

All I really have to bitch about is the sheer exhaustion brought about by football practice, but that's nothing. A little sunburn, a lot of soreness, and quite a bit of fun.

There are drugs that you can take for that, though unless you're a frequent traveler and sufferer, I doubt it's worth it. But yeah, like Python said, screwed up bio-clock sucks. You either have to oversleep or undersleep to fix it, and either way makes you feel shit.

Python, I envy you and the days you're living now. Good times when you can take a break and spend an arvo on a field with friends just about whenever you want. Good times.

So on Thursday I was at the beach and I dove under a wave, but stupidly didn't put my arms up, so I face planted the sand. It didn't hurt at all, but it left me with the most hideous scrape on my forehead. It looks like a friggin' birthmark!

Sucks that I just cut my hair because it would've been covered otherwise.

i was thinking of making a thread for this but decided to just put it in my favorite thread.

I went to deposit my stimulus check yesterday afternoon at the bank. This guy had just got there before me, did not hold the door for me even though i was just behind him.. whatever. So i fill out my deposit slip and notice this guy (kinda big, 6ft / 250 - black wearing wife-beater) is just kind of looking around, then walks out... i goto the door and look and his car is gone and i was thinking, what was he doing? is he going to rob the bank or something?

ok. get back in line and not more then 10-15 seconds later i hear somebody come in and kindof turn around to see 2 black guys in hoodies pulling bandannas over their faces, one of them has a gun he is pointing at people and they tell everybody to get on the floor.... so i did of course. omfg.

I could make this a few pages but I wont. The 2 robbers end up only stealing this poor customers $140 which the bank said was of course his... so he is the only one who got robbed, the bank lost nothing. I was then held hostage for about hour and a half by police and then was able to leave after the FBI guy asked me questions.

risking 10-20 + years in prison for $140 is.... well, its insane. and if there were 3 of them that means splitting that 3 ways... get a fu*(#*%ing job.... jesus.

Cool story but you would have saved yourself and us a lot of grief if you had direct deposited that check. You're an IT professional and you still accept paper anything?

None yet, actually. I think it's because the thing looks more like a giant hindu dot than anything else, so they crack hindu jokes a lot.

It's healed up a little better though, but not by much.

I think im sticking to the drive-through for now on when banking is concerned.

also going to try to use this as a way to break our lease without consequence.

Why, so then they can rob you and jack your car at the same time? That's no solution. The best bet is to limit the number of visits and amount of time you actually spend anywhere near the bank. Do as much electronically as possible. The tech-phobics will warn you against entrusting too much to our machine overlords, but it's inevitable. Better to assimilate now.
