Eureka gets my vote over FMP. While FMP was an excellent shot of awesome, Eureka is beating it in every catagory. From animation to sheer intensity of the cast.
Why just cause you think Eureka is good doesnt mean everyone must like it .......

OK, fist show me exactly where I said that everyone should like Eureka. I used it as an example because it's one of the top 3 anime this year(my #1, yhea, but TSR and Major are still up there). I could have used a number of other animes like Evangelion, FMA, Saikano, ect...

Now don't get me wrong, I like Bleach. However, I don't think it's earning a lot of the praise it's getting. It's had a good plot twist and fun fights, but thats about it. You dont feel for the characters, the soundtrack won't make you go "holy shit", the animation is average, and the plot overall has been done. Bleach is average, it's the popularity wagon thats making it look more then that.

I meant some people think Bleach is the best and some Eureaka.. Some like Naruto and some Saikano etc

Bleach is a shonen and they all get more praise than they should. Only FMA,HXH deserv what they got. But still Bleach is good way better than Naruto at its best according to me.

Thats why FMA is my fav shone cause it has what shonens plus great character that you actually care about in other way than the usuall "i hope he kicks some ass"

H&C would've been my second choice. I was leery of it at first, mostly due to the blantant shoujo art style that I previously avoided. It turned out to be one of the best series I watched all year. Hilarious characters, good plot, and lots of character development and good interactions. Morita was my favorite, and kept me watching, until they introduced Ayu, who sold the series for me.

But Eureka 7 still holds fast as my favorite. The design style really makes that series. The lingering undertones of all the connections they keep hinting at, but never telling you anything keeps you constantly waiting for more, decent mech fights, really weird and messed up psychological dives into who knows where (another one of those mysteries), and even toss in a adolescent coming of age and romance plot.

Well I'll say a bit about all of the ones that I've seen in this list atleast.

Air: Mediocre and I'm guessing like the previous project Kanon its based off of a porn game.

Ah! My Goddess TV: Manga Accurate but really a bit outdated by now I enjoyed it but I still haven't actually watched about the last 5 episodes.

Basilisk: Just plain bad it felt a bit like ninja scroll but never really interested me.

Black Cat: Um Getbackers anyone? This series has been alright but very predicatble so far.

Blood+: Um yeah I might bother catching up on this one some day but so far only so/so.

Eureka 7: I absolutely hated this and deleted it almost as soon as I finished watching the episodes I downloaded. Maybe it got better but its certainly not my idea of a good show.

Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid: Very Differn't and the Ultra violence and nudity seems over the top in a bad way to me but it had a good story so this was alright if you've seen the rest and don't mind excessive gore.

JINKI:EXTEND : No idea

Magic Teacher Negima!: No Idea

Xenosaga: That was this year? Um it was alright but really just not much here for anyone who hasn't played the games.

Peach Girl: Eh it was alright but all the partner switching got old after a while so it was really just mediocre.

Karas : No Idea

Victorian Romance Emma: No Idea

MAR: Alright filler but nothing spectacular really then again the fansubbing is obysmally slow.

Tsubasa Chronicle: Well beyond terrible it gets my vote for the worst Series of 05.

Mushishi: No idea

Speed Grapher: Might check this out later but it didn't really grab me and make me want to watch it.

Trinity Blood Clearly the bastard child of Trigun but overall a decent series.

Noein: No idea

Karin: Funny concept but mediocre show I think its by the same guys who did Midori no hibiki.

Shakugan No Shana: No idea

Suzuka: Great anime if your into this kind of show it got my vote for best of 05 because of how well written the characters are.

Tide-Line Blue: No idea

Ichigo 100%: Read the manga this one has been butchered beyond recognition.

Major: No idea I'm guessing its baseball.

Mai Otome: Well it has nothing to do with the previous series as far as I can tell except the fact they are reusing all of the characters.

Zettai Shounen No idea

Okusama wa Mahou Shoujo: No idea

Jigoku Shoujo No idea

Ichigo Mashimaro No idea

Sousei no Aquarion I like the music and it can be amusing but good luck finding a fast subber for this overall its atleast interesting.

Honey & Clover This one was just REALLY wierd to start off and given it has a rather well written plot and character growth but you have a lot to get past in order to get to that.

Bleach: Overall this has been a great year for bleach and I've certainly enjoyed it. I really don't see how this one can have anything bad said about it. Ok there is that whole "Happy People".

Naruto: Has been a steaming pile of terrible filler.

GSD Was likely the worst sequal of all time they did nothing but try and sell models while burning every ounce of plot alive.

There are more but I've wasted enough bandwidth

Nice to see you watched all of 3 series (as far I as can tell) to completion.

If you'd seen Half of the series, you'd also know half the stuff you said is wrong or at the least uninformed. Kanon and AIR are both made off dating sims. FMP:TSR "Ultra-violent"? Some of the other series on the list make TSR look tame.

Bleach, and Naruto even more so, weren't considered as options because they didn't start this year.

Granted, there are series that didn't finish in 2005 and some that only have a handful of eps as of yet, but at least see more of the eps before you criticize so many series.

Why bother to even include the ones you didn't see at all? It would take anyone 10 seconds to figure out which ones you didn't see. (Which was most as it turns out)

I'm not even sure which of the series you actually would've voted for...

Uhhuh... Reading your post, DDBen, makes me think you hate anime in general. But because you've been here for years and have more than 800 posts, I suppose that can't be the case. But certainly you should be less critical. That way you could enjoy the shows more. I think most of us are here mainly for that reason: To enjoy the art.

.........................

It seems that you have only seen the first episode of this awsome anime. That or you hate Clamp.

For all you awesome people, it's just Phoenix. The numbers are just the amount of times people misspell it.

FMP: TSR is super violent and has a lot of nudity.... WHAT THA HELL??? nudity was there in 1 ep... and violence... well didn't go that far in my opinion..
Eureka 7... two weeks ago i didn't know what it was... started watching eps when i was bored... when it got to about 8 or so, it became REALLY interesting

really, those two series get my vote... even more FMP:TSR (might have said that already but wanted to add Eureka 7)
as for Tsubasa Chronicle, i too didn't like it that much, it was too slow for my liking, it wasn't part of the worst tho...
Basilisk was good at first but kinda declined, now its getting a lil bit better tho
Sousei no Aquarion was plain wrong in my opinion

so i vote for E7 and FMP (yea i know... can't vote twice... but at least i can say that...)!

The dating Sim for Kanon is a Hentai game so yes it is porn.

Bleach and Naruto were mentioned but not voted for just a opdate of THIS years content for them.

Also FMP TSR was ultra ciolent when they show people having guns ramed into there mouth until their teeth bleed, people being shot in the head, Decaptitation followed by blood sprays and so on ith is ultra violent. The only nudity was the lesbian twins who were suppose to be guys in the first place it was still something the series didn't need. I watched it to the end and overall the character developement was good for the series but it still doesn't really match either of the other two seasons/series.

As a side note to this I do read the Berserk Manga which is much more dark and violent then anything else released thats for sure.

As for what I voted for once again Sazuka.

@Kraco I don't hate anime and I've indeed been here for years and have hundreds of series that I've seen. As such some just don't impress me as much as they would if it wasn't the SAME plot we have all seen over and over already.

@Phoenix20578

Tsubasa Chronicles was slow and a waste of time for every episode that I watched. Given in the long run it may have improved but anything that has that many episodes in the begining are just plain bad series it does not matter at all how good the series gets. This is the same for Eureka 7 where I watched probably the first 6 or 7 episodes before deciding I couldn't watch it and saw no reason to waste time continuing to download it.

@Darknodin
clearly your misquoting my post I never said FMP TSR has a lot of nudity I said mearly it has over the top nudity. I think twins washing each other and acting like lesbians certainly qualifies in that reguard. Also consider that none of the other episodes in the other series really contain any significant nudity much less with any defining features given. Also not I do Download Sousei no Aquarion as regularly as its released and I enjoy it but its a reused plot thats done all the time given it has good mecha, music and characters. So thats why I continue to watch it.

Edit: Looking over what I've been watching there are a few other series not on this list that I do watch and I can't recall if they were released starting in 05 or not.

The Law of Ueki
Beck
Project D (likely started in 04)
Ultimate Girls (short and increadably twisted but REALLY funny)
Yakata Japan
He is My Master (not porn I swear )
Beet the Vandel Buster

At least spell the name right. SUzuka

I swear, this is the most misspelled title and character name I've ever seen. How hard is it to spell this name? I'm honestly curious. The two keys are five inches away.

Kanon and AIR are for all intents and purposes, dating sims. AIR barely qualifies as even that by being an adventure game in the form of a digital storybook. There is a difference between them and H-games. The only versions of the two games you can still find anywhere are the non-H versions, and not only were a limited version made, the amount of hentai in them is very small (heard from someone who actually PLAYED them). Key is very well known for this trait, as well as the popularity of the all ages versions of the two games. Check Wiki. Only one version of AIR ever had anything remotely ecchi in it and it is minimal at best. Kanon had it, but that version was not nearly as popular or prominent as the all ages console versions.

Watch Speed Grapher. You won't think of FMP:TSR as violent or graphically groteque ever again.

I'm dragging this thread off topic, so I'm not going to continue this argument.

Basilisk without a doubt. It was long ago since I was this excited about an anime. And it just keeps getting better!

I voted FMP:TSR. Although i would say Bleach if you would have counted that as a 2005 series (since majority of the episodes are relesed in 2005)

RECAP

With 11 votes, FMP :TSR is clearly winning this contest.

Wow, Basilisk has 10 votes. I love this series but nobody seems to sub it.

Eureka 7, my favorite has 7 votes. ( Everybody should watch it )

I would have voted for FMP but it was way too short, although it was a very complete anime in every sense of the word.
