that makes him all the cooler. Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi (to an extent) are overrated

Definitely Sasuke, and Shikamaru.

It's pure luck Shika hasn't had his ass handed to him. Besides, he's only faced long distance opponents so he could go hide and think. Any close distance fighter who doesn't give him time to think (Neji, Naruto) would destroy him. But noo, he coincidentally faces Temari and Tayuya. What is it with him facing all these chicks..

In the fandom, Shikamaru seems quite overrated. Altough I love the guy, one, if not my #1, favorite character in the show.

As far as abilities go, I feel that Kakashi is overrated (this is in the anime at this point, note) because his Sharingan leaves him severly weakened and we see him lose Sasuke as a student, as well as not seeing his top capabilities dispalyed.

Also, I feel that Sasuke is hyped up by all the characters in the show (as well as Itachi, though we've never seen him directly face anyone BUT Sasuke).

As for underrated:
Shino
Ino (how long can she control an enemy? Why isn't she on serious spy missions?)
Naruto (yes, they correctly assess that he is an idiot. But the kid is also an unstoppable demon for crying out loud!)

Naruto, naruto, naruto, and more naruto. The show is supposed to be about him. you would think he be top ninja by now. masamuneehs is right, for god sake he has a demon inside of him u would think it would be easer for him to learn atleast couple of jutsu, since he has unlimited source of chakra. I have never seen a main character like him before. If they would cut some of that stupidty off of him maybe the show would get even better then it is right now.

I say oro, they make so evil, u think he can pawn everyone. the reason I didn't choose itachi is he knows his limits. hell give hinata right set of jutsu and we'll have snack bar-b-q for dinner.

The show would be boring if Naruto was the perfect ninja..

I think Tsunade is way overrated in the anime. She could barely keep up with Orochimaru, who was severely wounded by the way, and somehow she became Hokage. Yes, she's retardedly strong and a great medical ninja, but she doesn't seem to have any of the jutsu necessary to take down badies like Orochimaru and Akatsuki. Jiraiya was a much better choice for Hokage.

well. i think naruto is obviously underrated in the show. Everyone thinks he is stupid, but he is obviously really smart when he does think. Its just that his temper prevents him from thinking things through, that doesnt make him unable to think at all. Overrated is of course sasuke, for obvious reasons. Another one is kakashi. He is supposed to be this tensai ninja trained by the 4th, but he has basically been struggling for the whole series, excluding the fact that he is famous for an eye that isnt even his.
