Maybe it was still material in the last war, and Shirou's dad got it to stay somehow after Saber herself was gone.

It could also just be that he got it through more mundane means (found it? Inherited it from his teacher? Summoned it from some other place?)

Saber's pretty matter-of-fact about him possessing the scabbard, and it seems to me like her being summoned at all was contingent on the scabbard as a bond to contract with her (but that may just have been the condition for Shiro, because of his lack of training). Still, if he had it before he had her, it would make sense for him to be able to use it to summon her, and would also make sense for him to have it afterwards.

We don't really know a whole lot of anything about the elder Emiya, but we know he was a particularly competent magician, who was also apparently pretty handy with a gun, and had a certain degree of morality beyond the expectations of the average magician... who knows? Maybe he's Merlin's heir?

the weapon that Gilgamesh used to kill Lancer, Archer has that too right?

  4. #444
Was it the thing archer transformed into the bow and arrow? now that you mentioned it, I think it is...

amazing episode, so much information and emotions in it, very awsome. Well i was right sorta about gilgamesh's master. But what an evil bastard, all he wants is destruction.

Also i believe he was gilgamesh's master in the last war. Saber was not able to defeat gilgamesh but shirou's father did defeat his master, but shooting him. He survivored becuase the one who makes the wish is protected by the holy grail.

The only pact that was made was with lancer, gilgamesh was already his servant.

Finally had time to watch this episode and man did I like it. Seems that I was right in thinking that Kotomine was Gil's master and Board was right about Lancer's origional master being female. The thing I find weird is that Lancer seemed pretty noble, it just seems weird that he would both let his Master be killed and then make a pact with the person that killed her. I was also hoping Gil would use the scyth again , I need to stop watching the opening since it spoils scenes from the current ep but it's so catchy.

I watched all the episodes and its not to shabby. Emotions are too exaggerated though. When Rider originally fought Caster, Caster said something about 3 Knight servants. Would those be Saber, Lancer, and Archer?

The translation I watched, done by Eclipse, had a note saying "Saber, Lancer, and Archer are known as the three knight classes. They are officially known as Saber Knight, Lancer Knight, Archer Knight."

A fine episode, but very much would have belonged bundled together with the last one. Well, of course nothing but cliffhangers could have been expected considering the circumstances. Still, there was surprisingly lots talk of lesser content than in the previous episodes. One thing I can't help but wonder is how much Shirou actually used time to think how to defeat Kotomine, or is he just relying on luck and trying to do it offhandedly.

Considering that he is shiro (which I believe to be one of the worst main male characters ever made, appeance and personality wise), he probably just went there and hoped that in some magical and impossible way he will win. Im guessing he is going to use tracing and the dagger he got from rin to beat Kotomine in the next episode, but you never know. I think the preview is like full of spoilers. It doesnt just imply that they won, it more or less proved it, (though that is what one would expect anyway, a little suspense is good sometimes). What I am really interested in is the ending itself, and whether saber will get to stay or not. Im hoping that this series ends well, and a happy ending, at least for me, would be welcome.

Heh. He's far from being the worst male main character... Maybe you are lucky if you haven't seen worse. I could name a few, but that would probably earn me negative reputation, so I'll leave it at that. In fact, I don't even think he's that bad. He has developed somewhat during the series. Plus he managed to kiss Saber, which is more than great many male characters ever achieve...

I have no idea if Saber stays or not. Since this is from the same maker as Shingetsutan Tsukihime, I almost think she vanishes at the end, and Shiro is left with only memories of a lost love.

Yeah, he is not THE worst, what I said was he is one of the worst ever made. First of all, its the character design. Ive seen really bad characters with decent appearances, but he just looks ugly (not that I like bishounen types either, its just that he has nothing, no appeal, no nothing). Then its his attitude. Its like he says nothing worth listening to, and his responses to archer, saber, and everyone else was crap. I do agree that he became less bad in the last few episodes, with him kissing saber, but how he talks and reacts about sabers situation show little if any respect to her wishes. He is arrogant, with no power to back it up with. He is an outright idiot, walking around alone, trying to be chivalrous and ending up a hostage or a handicap. He is downright selfish, always complaining and asking for whatever he wants, and since his acts of so called kindness seem to root from his guilt and his 'inherited' sense of justice. Then its the issue of the inconsistency of his skill. This is usually a problem with fighting anime, but FSN, though has a lot of action, shouldnt be classified with fighting anime with the sterotypical plot of just getting stronger (which leads to problems with power levels). From being an absolute weakling, he suddenly is able to fight with casters master, then just gets stabbed at the back by lancer. It just makes no sense. But probably the reason he seems so bad is, because saber is a very good character, personality and appearance wise (one of my favorites in fact). It just seems that he doesnt match up well.

Oh, and there are a lot of bad and sterotypical characters looming around in anime. But even if they are copies of older characters, fundamentally they are solid character builds, which is why they are still duplicated and reprocessed after all this time. Shiro is like an attempt to make a unique character (I guess thats the deal with his face, too) that ended up with a main character that is very hard to like, and extremely easy to hate.

this was an amazing episode, once again so much was condensed into such a time space. I was actually praying that the epiosde was not going to end just yet. Can't wait for the final episode, and i am also sad about the whole thing. Oh well i can always hope that there will be movies and ovas(Great ones, not pieces of crap).

Getting the scabbard out of Shiro was far too hurried. I remembered that now. It looked like it would be a really cool scene, but then it just ended suddenly. There was a nice vibe when Shiro was standing without a shirt, and Saber laid her hand against his chest. (Shiro should have then grabbed Saber into his arms for some more kissing... Well, that wasn't what I felt was missing from the scene, but anyway).

Wonderful episode, although it didn't have the "we have to stop them before the destroy the world" feel it was still nice to see some action.

Shirou has indeed turned into a good main male character, he started out thinking he had to do everything himself, but gradually mellowed on the "I can't do everything I think I can" approach. Saber turned into a hard ass, then a soft loser, and now she's a confident hero(she is King Arthur after all).

Gilgamesh and Kitomine or however the hell you say his name are asses. And Avalon will more or less kick their asses

    R.I.P Captain America.
