Today I learned that when I am bored, I do the strangest things. For example, if figured out that I am 10100111001. And yes, that is 1337 in binary.

Now, if you want to impress your friends (or get beat up I can't remember which...), you can tell them that you are 10100111001.

And when I asked my friend if he was 10100111000, he said yes. What a noob, he said he was 1336.

today i learned that people posting messages to each other on the forums (that's what PMs are for guys) in binary code is even more annoying than those who come here and speak all in foreign languages, aol or 1337 talk.

i'd like to encourage it to stop being used, thank you very much.

Humans are different from animals. We must die for a reason. Now is the time for us to regulate ourselves and reclaim our dignity. The one who holds endless potential and displays his strength and kindness to the world. Only mankind has God, a power that allows us to go above and beyond what we are now, a God that we call "possibility".

And here i thought that "my mother was a saint!" was the universal "I have no idea what you just said" statement. Oh well, I guess that today I learned that some people think that it's actually a response to a sentence...

What the hell is with all this bad news about cell phones recently?? It's really gettin' me down.

Today I learned various definitions of what a "dialect" is, and that Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese are actually closer to being different languages than different dialects.

I was skimming the introductions thread today and I saw the post where Xan wrote, "I'm XanBcoo and I'm a phone" and I nearly fell off my chair laughing.

Xan, learning linguistic facts brings me much happiness. You are doing well, my young apprentice....

I learned so much from my contemporary world professor today about his life behind Soviet Russia. It was so much more interesting than when I heard Gorbachev speak at my school.

He told us that rock music was banned so they would hold rock concerts in apartments or underground. The police always knew about these concerts so they would always arrest everyone there, but my professor would go anyway and always expect not to come back home for 24 hours. He told us that he got picked up so often that he was never able to hear the band actually play.

Russian women did most of the manual work like construction and stuff because men were unreliable since they drank themselves to death.

You could get a arrested for wearing American jeans or wearing ripped jeans.

If you grew your hair too long the police would cut it.

You would have to wait in line for 2-3 hours just to get into the grocery store. My professor told me that people would just wait in line sometimes without even knowing what they were in line for because if people were waiting in line it had to be something good.

He grew up in a communal apartment, where each family took a room. One woman got into a fight with another woman in the next room in 1938 and when he moved into that apartment in 1976 they were still fighting. They ended up living right next to each other in Boston in 2002, and never spoke one word to each other since 1938 even though they've been living next to each other their whole lives.

A lot of the older Russian generation are annoyed with what Americans call "friend" since in Russia you're friends for life no matter what.

My professor is friends with Professor Khrushchev who teaches at Brown University. His father was Nikita Khrushchev, and he once told him that he was only 40 minutes away from ordering the nuke strike against America during the Cuba Missile Crisis, which would have ended the world. Pretty scary.

All Russians had to join the army when they turned 18. My professor got into a fight and was stabbed so he was able to avoid military service that year. He got lucky because that year the Soviet went to war with Afganistan.

    ----

Right when I was writing this an Arab couple was fighting next to me. The guy was engaged to her and then he ended up cheating on her. She's slapping him and yelling at him in the library right now. Freaking scary I need to move now.

Today, or rather yesterday, I learned that a full day at work after being unemployed for 4 months makes you rather tired.

Ain't complaining though! Gotta love my fancy McDonald's job!

For your sake I hope you dont actually work at MacDonalds , but hey, I guess it's still a source of income...

As for me, today I learned that my wage just went from 7.90$ Canadian/hour to 9.00$ /hour, and for no apparent reason either. Booyah! Gotta love my ultra-prestigious job of being a cashier at a grocery store.

That's pretty honorable. I wish America did have a better sense of what a friend was. Too many "friendships" end with some BS reason, or start because of something equally superficial. Same goes for couples. Everyone's just in it for themselves.

Edit: I do have some very good friends though. I try to be as unconditional as possible, which I think is what I like about the Russian concept.

That happens to me TOO! It's like, real life is the fantasy, and anime is the real world. It's a bizzare and surreal feeling.

Today I learned that I really dislike walking around listening to my iPod because it cuts me off from my environment too much. I get nervous if I can't hear the chirps of the birds and the sounds of things happening around me. It also makes me feel like I'm living in a music video.
