So, while I agree that people of power are involved, it's much bigger than killing Rukia. Byakuya and Renji could have done that when they apprehended her, and passed it off as self-defense. "She fought back, Yamamoto-sama. We had to use force to bring her down."

What I'm lost on, is why did Ukitake and Kyouraku (love this guy ..) feel it was so important to seal that executioner's halberd?

Well im sure they're not out to kill her for simple revenge, or because she broke some rule. Its most likely the first step in a bigger plan, a plan which is yet to be revealed.

@ Strider: I felt that Ukitake and Kyouraku didn't really know that about the supposed plot to steal the halbred's power (the plot Aizen wrote down, supposedly, to Hinamori in that letter) but were just trying to stop the execution because they felt something was amiss, or that the execution was not justified. From what I saw from them they were just morally opposed to it, and quite strongly too....

I don't think Hitsugaya or anyone informed them about the plot... but we still have to wait and see...

I completely forgot about Aizen's letter to Hinamori.

Although, I believe the only ones who know about it are Hitsugaya, Matsumoto and the people who were around when she was screaming about it.

And, speaking of them .. where the hell are they during all of this? Considering how Gin was fucking with Rukia along the walkway, I would have expected him to be the first person there, smiling in her face at the time of her death.

I think Gin predicted Rukia is going to be saved, or at least there is going to be an attempt to save her, and that would invariably result in fighting amongst the captains. Thus, Gin is most likely somewhere else either simply monitoring the situation, preparing for his own part, or further plotting and manipulating yet more people to join the fray.

Speaking of the Hit/Gin fight, is Gin's Lt. still alive? I remember he got caught up in Hitsugaya's Ice Dragon attack. But I couldn't tell if he survived it.

Gin staying away from the action is troubling who knows what the bastard is doing right now.

That was the last time Shiro, matsumoto, and kira were last seen, right?
Also, what happened to the captain and Lt. of the 4 squad? After leaving all the injured people they left to god knows where.

why the hell do people keep askning thse stupid questions.....for fucks sake, if they're location has not yet been revealed it probably has something to do with the future storyline. They can only show so much in a single episode, so you can eitehr finish up the fights, or you can find out where the hell everyone is.

OMG SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE GANJU IS!!!

BTW, I kinda know what some people are getting at with ichigo's whole new shikai discovery. My friends kept saying "the big sword IS his shikai", but I always knew compared to the other deathgods that the altered form of their soul slayer is only part of the shikai, but there's supposed to be a special move to call out in conjunction with it. As is the case here with Ichigo shooting energy blades (Which I believe he's done twice before in the series against uruhara).

Agreed. Let's stick to clarifications of stuff that happened in THIS episode. (Or maybe past episodes in relation to this one...)
And let's avoid the spoiler bait.

He also used it once against Renji when fighting in SS. That's when they flashed back to his training with Uruhara.

He's been able to do it for a long time. But now, because he knows what the attack is called, he can use it whenever he wants.

Yeah but wasnt much more powerful this time?

Im most said i like how shocked Bakuaya looked when Ichigo shoot the energy blades.

I wish they concentrated on one fight at the time. Ichigos or the commanders fight it would much better than showing bits of both.

i remember zangetsu saying something about how knowing the name gives you a lot more power or something, so just knowing what the name of the attack was called allowing ichigo's attack to be something like 10x stronger than before.

LaZie made this...a long time ago.

I believe he said that knowing the attacks name would simply allow Ichigo to use it whenever he wanted.

The attack is likely alot more powerful than before because Ichigo is alot more powerful than before. It's as simple as that.

Well, I think the point here was to show us just how long Ichigo and Byakuya were going at it. Quite simply, we saw when they started; we watched a bunch of other stuff; and the point is, the big boys were going at it the ENTIRE time all the other stuff was happening--the Captains v. Genryuusai, Yoruichi v. Soi Fon... the whole time. And, given that the opponent is Byakuya, that's just insanely awesome. Even Renji didn't last that long against him. And better yet? The real action hasn't even started. *really, really wants to see next ep.*

Exactly. They're getting all of the other fights out of the way at once, and at the same time showing that basically all of SS is a battlefeild. After all that's done with, the focus will most likely switch back to Ichigo/Byakuya's fight, and become the climax of the arc - or so I assume (this seems like a pretty generic formula for Shounen series).

However I do also see that it would be much cooler to focus on one fight at a time. Beginning, middle, and end. Then show the next, instead of breaking the focus like they're doing now.

<@Terra> he told me this, "man actually meeting terra is so fucking big", and he started crying. Then he bought me hot dogs
