I think that if Lee had been put up against opponets that don't have these "Ultimate Defense" moves, he'd demolish just about any Ninja (kages aside). You saw the look of startlement/fear in Neji's eyes after he had opened more than 3 gates. If Lee and Neji had fought, and Lee went all out, I think Neji would be hard pressed to pull a draw.

Rock Lee is the mother fucking man. He still remains one of my favorite naruto characters. I affectionately refer to him as the Learning Disabled Ninja. Think about it for second, just like student trapped in a self-contained learning disabled class room nothing comes easy to rock lee. The poor guy simply can't comprehend ninjustu or perform it just like an LD kid can't read, write, or do math really well. But did he give up and let those genius mainstream classroom ninjas screw him over, fuck no. He worked his ass off to achieve something greater. To equal if not surpass those who have been given the easy ticket in life. I find that so inspiring. Hell If can someone make me a rocklee signature where it calls him the LD Ninja. I would be indebted to you for life.

I was waiting for a thread like this to show up what with all the talk of Rock Lee lately. Kudos Jadugar.

Rock Lee is my favorite character. What else is there to say? He is inspiring. I don't know whether it's embarassing or not to say that I've actually come to apply some of the lessons "taught" by Lee to my everyday life (to some extent). His fights in the series have been the best, and he's great for comic releif.

Neji will always own Rock Lee.

While I'm not an enormous fan of Rock, I'll admit that watching him is always fun and his fights are definitely among the best (if not THE best) in the entire series.
So yeah, I'm very glad he's in it.

I'm the exact opposite, Terra.

Back when I originally enlisted into the GW membership, I claimed the spot for no. #1 Rock Lee fan. I'd still like to think I hold that. I adore the character, and I am an astronomically avid fan of the Taijutsu specialist.

His fights are the most entertaining to watch, due to the awesome animation and effort that's placed into perfectly showing off his hand-to-hand combat skills. Plus, his own personality and determination is admirable.

He can undeniably make us laugh, as his polite antics and whimsical nature with certain things can't help but make us giggle. His drunken display with Kimimaro is all I need to say in support of this. Hell, even his first appearance with his attempt to court our favorite useless kunoichi, Sakura, were comical.

Again, while some may not like the character or care too much for him, his fights hold the majority of the best battles throughout the series. And, as someone stated, considering how Rock Lee progressively unveiled his true skills, there would not have been any character capable of handling him, nor possess a relatively minute chance of defeating him. He is nothing short of impressive, at the very least.

One of his favorite lines of mine is, "The Lotus of Konoha blooms twice. I promise the next time we meet, I'll be a stronger man .." And, all of his interactions with Gai-sensei, as he's filled to capacity with eagerness and excitement, are fond moments of Rock Lee.

Also, along with Senpuu, is Reppuu, another technique of his that he's known for.

In regards to the question, I'm not sure which Gate you're referring to by "that," but .. I do not believe Initial Lotus [Omote Renge] would be enough to defeat Neji. As powerful as the technique is, and can be, with the sheer speed Rock Lee is moving at, I don't see it at a greater level than Neji's tolerance and endurance.

I feel the purpose of the Extreme Lotus [Ura Renge] was to ensure Neji's defeat. Gai-sensei states this, as does Rock Lee, prior to landing that final blow upon a battered, beaten and frightened Gaara.

I like Neji, but I love Rock Lee. So, I cannot be as resolute in saying Neji will always own Rock Lee. However, I think a portion of Neji's pride is in the fact that he can continuously beat down on Rock Lee. Something like, some people feel empowered by placing others below them and drilling such into their head, verbally or physically. In that case, as Lee improves, I see Neji dramatically doing the same to remain on top.

Here's to hoping Rock Lee surprises him soon, though ..

I like Rock, hes an cool character. His fights are among the best in the series since I have yet to dislike any of his fights so far. Sasuke earns the 2nd best fight scenes imho. Rock has a cool personality being a Mr. Nice-guy and I love his determination to win. He trains so much to reach perfection that even if he gets knocked out cold his unconsiousness manages to keep his pride in tack. This is noticeable in the end of Gaara Vs Rock Fight, almost made my shed a tear.

Rock is among my fave character list but he isn't my fave as Gaara and Neji succeed him in my views. I too think Nejo would still be able to beat Rock in a 1 on 1 fight. I think Neji was just shocked that Rock could unlock some of the gates. Would be a nice suprise if Neji could unlock some himself to make a stronger byakugan. Neji is very smart and I think he would out witt the masterful Rock Lee. Neji is also competant in taijutsu too with his familys famous fighting style. Neji gets the upper hand with defense and with the aid of his white eyes.
