In support of gotwoot:

I just thought I'd write a quick response to some of the bashing of the forum in this thread. I've enjoyed visiting these forums for some time now. I've lost track of all of the websites, good anime recs, tech support, and random useful information I've found here. Mainly I see it as a place for people with broadly similar tastes in entertainment to get together and share ideas, opinions, and resources related to things they've enjoyed, like anime, music, movies, games, etc. It's not perfect, of course, but it works pretty good for me, and for the many other people who visit here and I'm glad it exists.

I come here for news, fun, and some light socializing. NOT for serious political/social discussion. The web is lousy with those kind of forums, and if that's what you want to do there's plenty out there for you. I don't really have a problem with the current events topics, but they're really only a small part of the forums in general, and I DON'T want things torn apart by stupid political or religious conflicts. And one of things I like about gotwoot is how international it is, and how it brings together some very different people. They might not agree about the Middle East, but they both know Ichigo kicks ass There is plenty of devisiveness out there, and I've participated in some of it, but it's nice to have a place focusing on what people have in common.

Ok, now that I've finished my "world peace through shared love of anime" manifesto, on to the topic. Drama, drama, and more drama. I was disappointed that Mut felt he had to leave over his failed power play, but I guess it's his choice. His picture site and contributions to the FMP discussions were decent. Y I can't say much about, didn't interact with him a lot, but too bad he's leaving. People come and go online, that's the way it is. There are still many forum members I enjoy talking too, and I'm sure more will come in the future. As for the mods, well, I sometimes think they could do more, but I'm sure other people think they're too harsh. I think it's best they remain anonymous, and I'd say to them that no matter what they do it's impossible to make EVERYONE happy.

Ok, long post, done, later guys
