    I think Saya and Diva are more than just sisters, I think they are twins. It looked a lot like Saya, but something seemed...off. That's why I think it was Diva rather than Saya. The haircut seemed closer to the one Diva had as she was laying on the ground in the Chevalier Atrium than Saya's classic straight hair (the long versions from the film and Vietnam).

    That image was also from after the fire, which occured in the flashback the old man was talking about, but yes, it seems likely that either Diva or her servants killed off everyone, either that or Saya went berserk when she was turned/awakened.

    The next eps should answer that question definitively.

    There was a girl with a blue rose present at the site after the killing / fire, but it doesn't still mean the girl did the deed. Of course it would have been natural if the residents were vampires. Well, I just thought to point this out...

    Saya has been useless the last couple of episodes, I wonder why Hagi even bothered giving her his dagger, it wouldn't have made any difference.

    This episode was great though, great animation. Especially when they first started being attacked in the bridge, and Hagi picks up Saya jumping in the air while dodging every attack, it was superbly done.

    But man, what a shitty name Gee is, I bet it really is "G."... that would make more sense.

    I wonder how many times Hagi is going to keep getting fucked up like this, he keeps getting the short end of the stick.

    Awesome episode. Tons of actions, tons of new characters introduced and simply splendid visuals. It also seems like Saya will finally get her act together in the next episode. Excellent.

    Oh, and I'm totally in love with the Schiff after this episode. Especially Moses. He even surpasses Solomon in sheer sexiness.

    Probably "Guy" actually. They're in France. "Guy" (pronounced as it was in the episode) is not a particularly uncommon name in those parts.

    Interesting that they've got 'Dismas" and "Gestas" (the guys crucified with Christ) as the two that got killed, and also have Moses in the Schiff (all pretty unusual names), and then they've got common names like Irene and Guy too.

    I wonder if there's a system I'm not picking up yet...

    Hmm, interesting. This guy was big on aerydynamics, seems to have contributed alot. Although, I see no correlation. Maybe they just chose a random name.

    Is it just me or is Blood+ slowly becoming.... uninteresting? The first few episodes were great, then it fell until Saya lost herself in Vietnam. After that, it's been a little boring up until episode 20 since that's the last time I watched Blood+.
    Regardless, I'm still going to be watching this series (even downloading 21).

    It's a hard thing to balance between action and a deep plot. Now, I have to admit Blood+ hasn't succeeded perfectly in doing that. But I suppose it does earn some credit by not just filling all the eps with simple minded monster slashing, even though that's what the series seemed to be. Saya's current condition is unfortunately an anime tradition, has probably been all the way from Evangelion, if it's not even older than that. Just gotta accept that...

    The anime has delivered in many levels...

    Great action, solid plot, great atmosphere, awesome characters... Nothing uninteresting here.

    Kraco is absolutely right about the 'hero loses his/her sense of self/confidence' as being an anime tradition that has come to stay. I sometimes wish they could at least portray this differently, as it really is annoying seeing the same traits pop up over and over again in all different sorts of animes... Usually has something to do with the character being based on the 'I have special powers I didn't know about, but I just want to live like I'm a normal person!'

    ...I'm thinking about compiling a list of anime character archetypes... that could be a fun discussion

    That may be true, but you have to realize that Saya didn't have any confidence to begin with... So she can't really lose it, she's just the same as when she began her journey.

    We still have 30 or 31 more episodes to go, so there'll be plenty of Saya kickass action to come, I'm sure of it.

    Though I agree with the assessment of she not wanting power and wanting to live as a normal person, but you really have to weight her current dilemma. It's not about having power, is about her being a Vampire who has probably slaughtered thousands of people.

    yeah when i saw his name in the OP, i was pretty damn suprised too, he seems perfect for this, with his last samurai music, and i really do dig the sounds in blood+, every event has a perfect tune too it

    It was a really good episode. Much needed background info of Saya and Hagi's past. Quite conclusively indeed. It was an interesting past, to say the least.

    Edit: Oh, and obviously it also revealed something very interesting about Saya's inherent powers. She's not at all just a killing machine, and she's probably very similar to Diva, in the end. I wonder if it's only her personality that separates her from Diva.
