Bullplop. Shit like that happens all the time in shounen anime. People go hundreds of years at relatively the same power level, then they get beat by the main character, and all of a sudden, they start skyrocketing in power along with the main character to keep them relavent to the series.

I'm not saying I think he's gonna suddenly learn his blade's name during this fight, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he did.

And its not rusty, its chipped.
Well I can admit he might be able to learn his sword's name and release first form, but hell no not bankai. And I think it would take away from him momentarly from his "only dude to rock you hard while not being able to speak to his sword" image yenno?

DBZ died because they kept trying to "miraculously raise power levels" of characters and villains. It just got old after a time.

That's why when someone in a show declares a fight to the death, it should be to the mother-loving bitter death. Characters keep coming back and regain even greater strength and all that BS is stale man. It's a sword fight, cut the motherfucker's head off if you have to, but make sure he surely can't stab you in the back some day down the road!
