I don't think Neji would waste his time doing Kaiten to deflect shurikens... I do hope he has wits enough to just dodge them, as well as Sasuke's fire attacks.

Power of Level 2 seal is about = "One Tail" Kyuubi-Naruto which is > Regular Kyuubi-Naruto which is just about as strong, if not stronger than the power of the Kaiten (as seen in the chuunin exam fight).

I think Sasuke is intelligent enough to figure out a way to put Neji at a disadvantage, just as Neji could do the same to Sasuke. But I think the fight would result in Neji being forced to defend, as the Curse Seal gives Sasuke so much power. This would put Neji at a disadvantage, and Sasuke would come out on top.

Oh, and yes, Neji can reflect shit with just his chakra, that's how he deflected the last arrow. But I don't think it would make much of a difference.

Naruto broke the Kaiten, but his hit didn't connect, it just knocked him away. Also, Neji was just shitting around with Naruto the whole time and only at the very end when Naruto makes the comment about reforming the Hyuuga does Neji go "Oh, fuck, this is serious".

I really think a lot of the Sasuke support (besides obvious fanboys like Mut) comes from the fact that Sasuke fought an opponent whose style is poor like Naruto and therefore comes off looking a lot better. Neji fought an opponent who was practically tailor-made to beat the living shit out of him. Kidoumaru just so happened to have counters for all of Neji's bloodline abilities. He couldn't be hurt by Jyuuken techniques and he figured out the Byakugan's weakness and had an attack ready to exploit it. If Neji had fought ANY of the other Sound Five he would have looked a lot better fighting them, and yes, I believe he'd have done better against Kimimaro (a guy who's got a fatal blood disease already isn't gonna do so hot trying to fight with major organ failure).

Also, if anime filler is allowed (and this is open discussion, so I don't see why not) Neji can see in slow motion with the 128 strike Hakke attack. It sure isn't as good as the Sharingan, but he doesn't need it to be - each of his hits are devastating and possibly fatal.

I don't think the purpose of spinning is to compensate for the blindspot....thats quite a bit of an exersion of stamina just to protect a small cone in the back of the head. Besides, that blind spot is something that Neji as an individual had as a weakness to overcome, and not necessarily all hyugas have that same weakness (I doubt Hiashi has it, yet he still spun for HIS kaiten). Granted any blind spots is negligable with the spinning, but I think the REAL reason for it is to act as the counter-attack to the attack.

Neji standing still was enough to block Naruto's punch, but it was the spin that knocked Naruto away.
The spin further strengthens the defense, because you're applying momentum as an opposing force, instead of just being stationary and relying completely on your chakra.

And Neji would've been able to deflect kidoumaru's arrows much better if he spun instead of standing there.

As for sasuke leaving himself open while transforming.....
I don't know why people are even considering this as a flaw....does anyone honestly think that if sasuke really wanted to bust out level 2 that he wouldn't be able to pull it off without being stopped?





Overall, I'd say this match-up would be a much tougher call if we were talking about Neji and Sasuke during the chuunin exam finals

Well, of course if this fight happened in the manga, Neji would just stand there and watch just like everyone else does when they should be trying to stop a transformation sequence. Taking time to change forms is a bad tactical idea that only works in manga/anime because the plot says it has to.

If they fought in the Chuunin Exam finals I think Sasuke would lose pretty decisively. He loses a very large portion of his power advantage without the second Seal release, as well as not having the 3 mark Sharingan. Neji loses his anime filler attack and the projectile chakra blast. In my opinion, the loss of the 3 mark Sharingan makes him far too vulnerable to enter close combat, and like others have said before, he has no powerful ranged attacks.

Well, he is really good with Shuriken/Kunai attacks and Katon jutsu like the ones he used against Oro in the Forrest of Death.

I'm don't think anyone here believes that a kunai attack is going to do anything against Neji. He's good enough to intercept them in midair with other kunai, and if I recall he actually caught a few in the exam.

The Katon jutsus work well against opponents like Naruto because Naruto doesn't give a shit about defense - he just charges head on into them. Those powers won't break Neji's defenses.

sasuke always manages to pull moves and get around obstacles that you may not expect

out of all the kids in the series....i still think sasuke is the character i can least predict in combat

The problem is, that now Sasuke has power comparable to Naruto. His level 2 demon chakra lets him go head to head in a power battle against naruto and if naruto can beat neji with that kind of power, then who the hell can Sasuke NOT beat? Its just boring.

Naruto makes all of his fights a raw clash of stamina and power. Sasuke's fighting style isn't about laying down a huge amount of power at once, and the way he uses his power (Chidori) isn't as useful against Neji as it is against Naruto. And, again, Neji was just shitting around with Naruto.

Thats because he has lots of it unlike any other character but then again he does uses its power and stamina strgerically. I am not talking about the fillers where he rangengans everyone and everything that moves. I am refering to his thinking style way back in Zabuza arc where he thought of defeating him with the shadow windmill technique. He came up with it by himself and before Sasuke. He was one step ahead of Neji when he defeated him. Also in his fight with Sasuke he use of kage bushin in the shape of a ladder was imprssive. When he does use his two signature moves he does it well but becuase of his overuse of rasengan and kaga bushin in all the fillers have made it very predictable and annoying to watch.

Then again I like when he goes all kayubi. Whereone need to feel like doing it once in a while.

Chidori is huge amout of chakra concentrated at one point.

Chidori is the exception - he doesn't start a fight with that, and the rest of his techniques are about style and strategy.

i like neji better but i still think that in the naruto Tv show, Sasuke would of won in the Chunnin exams, remember the fight with haku?

if he can prolong the fight, he can start to understand neji well enough to devise a stratagy(sasuke would of against haku, but naruto screwed that up)

so as long as neji does run Rampant with 64 strikes as soon as the battle starts(which would never happen in anime, they would probobly have a kunai duel first, then neji would get a few hits on sasuke, nothing major, sasuke would figure it out, and do somethin cool)

So in a Real fight, out of naruto, Neji would win.

but we're talking about naruto anime, so sasuke gets my vote(although i hate him)

I just read all these post and Jadugar is right they should make a fight between these two but i'm affarid in the fight the plot device kicks in and susake magicly pulls a new move/ jutsu out of his ass and wins.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
