Anyone else from the Houston area?
I'm safe in Austin, but my mom and bro are evacuating. So are all my friends. Scary shit...

Oh shoot, my friend just got discharged and is still around the Houston area. Hopefully he'll be leaving soon.
intresting...wonder how well the emergency response will be this time around after all the weaknesses were made clear during katrina
Ah I'm in Houston.. and it seem we will probably evacuate tonight.. or sometimes tommorow?

No one but the enemy will ever teach you how to destroy and conquer. Only the enemy shows you where you are weak. Only the enemy tells you when he is strong. And the rules of the game are what you can do to him and what you can stop him from doing to you. I am your enemy from now on. From now on, I am your teacher."

My friend's at Fort Hood. He told me it took him 3 hours to get to Dallas from Houston.
Yeah, apparently EVERYONE is evacuating either tonight, or at some ungodly time early tomorrow morning. I've been trying to keep up with this. Looks like they've upped it to a category 5 (or are about to).
Also, my cellphone won't work b/c of this. Must be because the service is so busy.

I can't believe there's actually idiots still in Houston that think the warnings are just a "bluff". My sister's friend's family is staying there because her uncle told her to. The uncle thinks the government's trying to scare everyone.
That's what I thought too, seeing as they upped it to a category 5 and then dropped it back down to a category 4. Like they were saying "It's a fucking hurricane people! GET THE FUCK OUT!" Just scare tactics? Who knows.
I have friends still in Houston, but I have family and other friends that have evacuated. Took them 13 hours to go from Houston as far as San Antonio (which is usually a 3 hour drive). Also, the wait for gas was long, b/c of some shortage or something.

Glad it wasn't as strong as it could have been.
