Wilhelmina isn't really that good at fighting, nor at understanding people. I wonder what it is exactly she's good at, to make her a decent flame haze and not just a sidekick of little real use.

It's too bad Margery left. It looks like there would be work to do for her as well. Perhaps she comes back.

Yeah, that was stupid of them to do that if they wanted it to be more dramatic

Well I really thought the first half of this episodes was pretty lackluster. Yugi breaks Wilhelmina's spell, Shana (of course) changes her mind and saves him. More drama that we've already seen.

The second half was alot better. I loved the idea of Yugi, Satou and Tanaka (and probably Yoshida and Shana) all leaving the city together. And while I'm 100% that Ike is totally forgotten in this show, I still have faith that Satou won't get the same raw deal. I quite liked his attitude about Margery leaving and the Flame Haze's treating them like objects.

Wilhelmina sucks. Shana sucks. How hard is it to kill a little twit like Yugi? Why not use your friggin sword to block Yugi? Unnecessary cliffhanger drama marred the otherwise awesome end. Obviously Shana will be fine (even without seeing the preview I know that this show doesn't have the guts to break Anime Rule #1)

I'm really liking Sydonay's (Metamorphisis) VA. He was also Tsume in Wolf's Rain and does Zairin in Zoids Genesis (by far the top reason I'm still watching that one)

after watching the preview (well, cliffhanger is ruined... idiots...) seems like Hecate will finally get a good speaking part. I've been looking forward to that as she's voiced by the absolutely incredible Mamiko Noto

One thing. Does anyone know any show that kills off the main character halfway through and introduces someone new after that point? (really killign the character, not DBZ killing???

I've never disliked Shana before but she kinda annoyed me this ep. The whole scene where she was all we have to leave but I don't wanna leave if he decided it after seeing Yoshida help Tune the city was her worst scene ever. And Cliffhangers really arent that effective when they give away the next ep .

nodin, I've seen some animes that kill of the protagonist at the end, and plenty of villians come and go.

but killing the main character (or the title character) before the last episode? Unheard of. That's why it's Anime Rule #1, it's practically dogma.

and i really wouldn't want anyone to post a (oh this anime anime kills off the main character) because that's just being an asshole.

I'm always reminded of Alfred Hithcock's 'Psycho'. They billed it 'Starring Janet Leigh' and, yeah, well old Alfred pulled a fast one on them didn't he? Hitch also made it so audiences could not arrive halfway through the film (which was unheard of at the time). Hitch also sent out several Actress Wanted ads for the role of (and even had a chair on the set for the actreess playing) 'Mrs. Bates'.

Psycho was also the first film to ever feature a toilet flushing on-screen. Joseph Stefano (Screenplay writer) insisted on this, and even wrote an entire scene to make it so.

Also, Stefano and Hitchcock originally planned for the entire score of 'Psycho' to be jazz music.

Somehow I get the feeling Yuji is corrupting the pure Hecate... At least I don't know why else scenes like that would have been shown. If that's the case, no doubt it will be a decisive factor in the battle about to begin. It wouldn't be a miracle: Something that is called Pure all the time sounds like awfully easy to corrupt.

Edit: You could have truncated those links a bit, masa. They are kind of... not very elegant.

Hecate is going to feel sorry for Yuji or something. The following battlesshould be good.. Also; looks like Ane-san has returned. I think Blautsauger is also going to play some kind of role.

Some reason I think Ike is going to play a bigger role in season two(I remember it being stated that this is 2seasons) Ike's love for Yoshida makes me think he'll be manipulated into fighting Yuji possibly by the silver who I'm guessing isn't showing up this season.

About this ep, Hacate seems like Shana. This seems to be the first time she's encountered any real emotions. I never thought of her as a bad guy from the origional opening maybe she'll change sides she's too normal to be a villian in this show.

I agree with the ideas about Hecate getting tainted by Yuji's memories/emotions, especially with how much Sydney carries on about his beloved Hecate being 'tainted'...

Also, this came up in my religion text today. The name is Baal- Peor. Well, I'd just watched episode 22 and couldn't help but notice that the way they pronounce Bel-Peol's name makes it very hard to tell the difference between Peol and Peor.

Baal Peor appears in the Old Testament when Moses is leading the Israelites through Moab. A Baal is a 'god', but never THE God, and as such it is said to be a 'false god' or a demon appearing in the guise of a god.

Anyhow, the Israelites began 'associating' with the women of Moab, and a prophet of Baal Peor approaches them, praising their greatness and giving a great blessing on them from the top of Mount Peor. However, after this prophet of Baal Peor speaks, the narrative focuses on the Israelites, showing that they really are NOT acting in praise-worthy manner (having begun to worship Baal Peor).
As such, the prophet of Baal Peor exhibits 'Adverse Reasoning', which is the official title of Bel-Peol in Shana.

The word 'Pe'or' comes from the Hebrew stem of 'to open', as in 'opening an eye or a mouth'. So Baal Peor, translated literally means 'Lord/God of the Opening'.

Bel-Peol's character design certainly seems to be based on this.

Just watched episode 22, I thought it was uneventful, but it's OK.

The synchronization reminded me a bit of Sousei no Aquarion for some reason, no idea why. Maybe it was because of the liquid thing that sorrounded them...

Damn. I wouldn't have minded if it was 26 episodes, not truncated 24...

But it was a decent episode. Not as good as many in the past, mainly because the fight against the stupid bots was stretched. Stretched enough that nothing explained why they didn't try to escape the room, instead of just fighting the endless battle. Since the existence sucking contraption was local, it would have made sense to try to get as far as possible from it.

But at least we got Margery and the book back. That counts for much.

It's still a bit unclear what the obvious corruption actually did to Hecate. I hope it does cause something in the last episode, otherwise the scenes with her and Yuji would have been a bit meaningless (unless their whole idea was to make Yuji realise he could have treated Shana better... Meh...).
