Basilisk: Kouga Ninpou Chou + FILM : Shinobi

Agreed, Tenzen supplied greatly to my enjoyment of the movie. Him and Yashamaru, who died waaaay too quickly.

(I get the feeling I've written this before)

    Oh what the hell:

    Tenzen <3 Yashamaru <3 Tenzen <3 Yashamaru <3 Tenzen <3 Yashamaru <3 Tenzen <3 Yashamaru <3
    Tenzen <3 Yashamaru <3 Tenzen <3 Yashamaru <3 Tenzen <3 Yashamaru <3 Tenzen <3 Yashamaru <3

    *gets shot*

Hey Jadugar, thanks for uploading all of Basilisk!!! I've always wanted to finish this series up.

I'm actually having problems extracting the file. It says I need a password.

Make sure you didn't rename either of the files: the movie of the subtitles file. Make sure the subtitle isn't turned off in the menus. Also you could mess around with the player a little to see if you could load the subtitle file separately.

However, it could be that you need to reinstall the player. And instead of downloading and installing the components one by one, your best bet would be to get one of those big codec packs that also contain MPC. That way you would be sure to get all the components and a proper installation.

Yeah do watch the anime. It takes its time building up the characters and you get 10 shinobi from each side instead of 5. And I thought Gennosuke looked much better in the anime. And of course there's Okoi....

Tenzen was good in the movie, but he was better in his anime form as well. I loved Yashamaru in episode 1 of the anime.

YES! Heaven is a really really wonderful song. If you haven't watched her PV yet, you can catch it on youtube here, complete with English subs. http://youtube.com/watch?v=eTXX8ZjnsN4

I guess I would have enjoyed the movie a lot more if I didn't watch the anime before hand. But still, because I have watched the anime, I realise how much more this movie could have been...... and that's a little disappointing.

Okay I -finally- got around to see the first episode and... WHERE THE HELL HAVE I BEEN THE LAST MONTHS?!!!

The opening and ending were both awesome (important factors to me! :P) and the occasionally beautiful and occasionally grotesque character designs reminded me of Ninja Scroll (which I loved - the movie that is, not the crappy TV series).

Thoughts after the episode was "So this is what people meant with characters being more fleshed out in the anime!". The entire episode was dedicated to Danjou and Ogen and their similarities to Gennosuke and Oboro! And young Danjou kicked so much ass! The whole thing was really sad (although a Nobunaga Oda cameo is always cool) but at least they died together *wipes tears away*

    AND YASHAMARU <3 !!!

In short, welcome to half a year ago Terra!

    *Instant fanboy*

    The password is "arigato".

Someone asked this in one of the earlier posts.

Welcome to the world of Basilisk, Terra. Be prepared for one of the most awesome and suspenseful animes ever. Oh, and Tenzen. He's at least a hundred times more awesome and cruel than he was in the movie.

Yes, I utterly adore this show.
/ No, you warrant no villain's exposition from me.

You are lucky Terra, you get to watch them all together. We have had to wait a month in past just to get one episode to be subbed.

Because I can only download one episode at a time, and the new one is never finished by the time I've seen the previous one.

    Just saw 12! Yashamaru & Hotarubi flashbacks ;_;

Amazing how attached you can get to characters despite such a relatively small screentime.

OK, so I watched the first episode and I must say, WTF. That is the wierdest most disgusting thing I have ever seen, well not really but you get the idea.

Edit: Damnation! There's a daily download limit! I am forced to stop at episode 14! Horror~~~~~~

The drawing style of humans in the series is a bit different compared to mainstream shounen (or any other pretty much) shows. It's not shining and flawless, but rather cruel and rough. However, in the end it fits perfectly the merciless story, and the fact those rough looking people must all the time do very tough choices.

To be honest, if this show had had clean and bright and innocent graphics like Naruto, do you think the story would have worked nearly as well as it does now? Well, after just one episode it might be impossible to see this, but later on.

I'll be waiting for your revised review of the Shinobi film after you finish all 24 episodes, Terra.

Well, I mean, it wasn't like throw up disgusting. However, watching blood spill everywhere and people getting stabbed in the throat and shot through the forehead at 3 in the morning is alittle unsettling.

    Edit: w00t now I'm a Chuunin!

Edit #2: OMG! Episode 2 is Luffy v Chouji!

Okay just finished the series. What can I say? Without a doubt one of the best series I've ever seen. To prove it to you, I saw the whole thing in 3 days and I'm a guy who's REALLY lazy when it comes to watching things on a row. I was possessed! And the OST/opening/endings have been on constant MP3 rotation between the episodes to boot.

I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT! (well maybe Yashamaru's early death)

The show had me laughing, crying, cheering, and everything. Awesome action, tragic and good deaths, pasts, and even the smallest character roles felt like they were there for a reason. Masterful. Excellent. I lack words.

And as for the revised movie review... well let's just say that you guys were right big time. I expected the anime to end like the movie lol, but the anime's ending was even better (and tearier!). I'm glad I watched the movie first, because that way I got two great experiences instead of one awesome series and a disappointment afterwards. I'm also glad I didn't have to endure all those pauses like you fellows did. I've read the entire thread, and I could honestly feel your pain in the posts.

There is just one thing that I can't set straight in my mind. The flashback during Tenzen's final death. What the fuck was that about? Was the baby Tenzen or what? Some people suggested that the baby later went on to live inside Tenzen. Hardly. How the heck would he get in there? So my guess is basically that the baby in fact was Tenzen, who was sort of "cursed" because he was born from a dying woman or whatever happened. I'm surprised you guys didn't discuss this more since it was in my eyes pretty big. Any new ideas regarding that?

*Five more salutes to the best show I've seen since Gundam Seed*

Edit: Finally finished my Yashamaru avatar, damn, took me longer than I thought it would.
