yeah, i just broke my leg so now i'm sitting lying in bed with my laptop here and i just put this thread here so anybody who's broken something or gotten hurt can come here to bitch about it. if you dont like this thread then FUCK YOU! okay, now another thing, does anybody know how long i have to be in this damn cast? the doctors wont tell me shit, they just say "uhh, it has to stay on until your legs healed..." NO FUCKIN SHIT! so if anybody's broken a leg, just give me some advice, and if you can, give me an estimate on how long i have to be here. and if you have somethign broken right now, come here to tell your story.

Depends on how bad you broke it but the healing time for most bones I believe is 4-6 weeks, so sit back and enjoy the healing process.

Normally a broken bone heals in 6-8 weeks, can take longer if the injury is more serious, for example if the bone is totally broken of it will probably take longer but if it is broken like through half it should only take 6-8 weeks.

my bad, its not a broken leg (i didnt know i said that up there) its a broken ankle (im hoping that will shorten the time i'm in a cast)

and i broke it while playing basketball. landed on the side of my ankle and "CRACK!"...the rest is all straight foward.

Not good. That happened to my friend. It was supposed to heal in one to two months, then he was supposed lay off it for another two months. Unfortunitly, he does Taekwondo with me. He came back to practice to soon and screwed it up again. Chaos, lay off the hard leg labor or you won't heal up for an entire year and a half.

this is quite odd, on one hand, aramis is telling his story from personal point of view and said 3-4 weeks (about a month)

but on the other hand phoenix said his friend was supposed to heal in 2-3 months. but this is from a spectator's point of view. and dont worry i'm not going to be an idiot (no offense to your friend) and start lifting weights with my ankle or something. i know i gotta rest it.

I've done that once in basketball as well, but only a sprain. One day of taping and it was pretty much healed. Only thing is I don't think it ever healed to 100%, because my left foot gets very tired and sore from intense activities.

hmm, only time my bones have broken was when i was like 7 yrs old, my older cousin was riding a bicycle with me sitting on the back, he was steering like mad and my ankle went between the spokes at full speed, and apparently they were stronger than my foot was. twisted it so hard that a bone cracked. hurt like hell. healed in 3-4 weeks.

My friend was an idiot. Hence he had a broken (or otherwise fucked up) ankle for over a year. But, unlike Aramis, he was 23 and obsesive when it comes to training.

my brother broke his ankle a few years back... it was a spiral fracture and it took a while to heal. he had to get surgery where they put steel bits around the bone to make it heal properly and all that. from breaking to full recovery for him took at least half a year. did the doctors take xrays of your break yet? if not, then it's understandable that they coudln't give you a proper timetable for that right away.

yeah they took xrays, thats how they knew it was broken. my break isnt as severe as your brother's was (as surgery isnt needed) but i was just wondering how inconvient this will be.

then in that case, it's still inconvinient. when you shower you have to keep the cast dry so there's this whole ritual of wrapping some huge plastic bag and taping it shut before you even think about going near water. plus it might best to put a plastic chair in the tub or stall or something so u could sit while you clean yourself =P that, and the hobbling around..... you're in for at least a month of inconvinience. sorry.

Broken ancle huh? Can be a good thing or a bad thing(if you compare with a broken leg) Ancle injuries can be really serious, ask your doctor how long it will take to heal.

I accidently made a guy break is ancle in a game, shoved him when he was in the air and he landed like you did.

Personal experiences with injuries, well my body is totally fucked up, my hipbone is out of position and has been for a longer time which gave me backproblems just got that fixed, still a bit sore in my back. I got flat feet so i need a thing in my shoes to correct that, need to make new ones every year and forgot about it this year so my feet hurt quite a bit every now and then, hoping to get an appointment for fixing it. My spine is crooked to, like an S shape, its not very much and doesn't hurt but it is fucking annoying, makes my stomach and chest muscles look diffrent in size.

Chaos, i hope your broken ancle heals quick.

My dad has that. It sounds really similar. If it's the same thing then you might be in for a lot of pain in your older years.

And Chaos, good luck w/the plasitc bags and tape. When I was in a cast (not for a break or anything though), I bought myself this plastic bag-thing made for taking a shower w/a cast. It was cool. A little more weildy than a trashbag too.

Well, I think I told this story back when I first joined the forum, but probably only a few of you remember. I actually only have 9 fingers. When I was two years old I got my left pinky finger stuck in a piece of farm machinery which my brother subsequently turned on (he was only 4 at the time....we weren't supposed to be playing near the machinery). So that was the end of my finger. It was so badly mangled that they didn't have a hope of reattaching it. Instead, they took out the rest of the bone, so imagine a cartoon character hand, and that's me. No one notices really. I use it as a party trick when people get drunk, they get so confused at how I can make one of my fingers disappear, it's great fun.

lol ironicly i know somebody with 6 fingers on each hand, he'd be happy to lend you one. (well technically he has like 5½ because when he was born they tried to use surgery to cut the extra off, but it grows back.)
