I was just browsing One Piece in animenewsnetwork when I noticed that Nami had two different VA's...
One that apparently took over for episodes 70-79...
I was wondering if any of you noticed this, and also if by any chance you know the reason behind why there are two diffrent VA's for Nami?
I noticed, but I dont know the reason. If you lisen, the vioce in those episodes are less high pitched than the Nami that we all love.
For all you awesome people, it's just Phoenix. The numbers are just the amount of times people misspell it.
I dont listen to women when they talk anyways, I just stare at their boobs, so I didnt notice.

I didn't notice the first time but when I found out about it I went back to look at those episodes and in fact it was different.
Then I heard that the reason for the change of VA's in those episodes was because the original VA of Nami was giving birth at that time.

but I've never heard of a voice actress leaving their whole fucking role for 2 months+ just to stay home with her baby (even though the voice acting process itself hardly consumes more than 2 days a week).

This is an industry ruled by money... and again, I have never heard about maternity leave in the japanese voice acting world before.
They probably do the voice acting for an amount of episodes in 1 day.

What surprised me was that I didn't noticed that the VA had changed... so that's what really made me make this thread... If I havent read in ANN that they changed VAs for 10 episodes, I would've never known that such a thing happened... So I think that the replacement had to have done a pretty good job in imitating the other's voice...

Amazing how some people can imitate others.
Only few people noticed the voice change. Maybe because in Little Garden arc (ep 70-79) Nami didnt have a big part to play and gets sick at the end of the arc. Either that or the other voice actor did a pretty good job.
