    Legend of Galactic Heroes

Just wondering if anyone here is watching Legend of Galactic Heroes...

I'm currently on episode 11 downloading from Central-Anime a.scarywater.net/ca who are on episode 36 at the moment...

Also if anyone is interested on what this is, this is a series similar to the likes of Crest of the Stars and such... It's an OVA that started in the 80's with 110 episodes, if not mistaken it's the longest OVA to exist yet, and it took about 10 years or so to release it all (I think more)...

So, If you like Sci-Fi, war and battle strategy, political struggle, power struggle (social classes) and a pretty good drama and some action, then you might as well give this a try...

There are also Movies and other OVAs related to this one...

I have seen alot of people watching this show and has wondered how the battles are? Is the battles any good? Its a must in a anime like this.

up to what i've seen, there haven't been many battles per se, and the ones shown have been shown for strategic reasoning other than showing an all out battle... in one of the melees, they faught hand to hand it was pretty good i must say.. don't know if the battles get better after it (it probably should since it's such a long OVA, that the animation and such should've improved throught the years)... the strength behind this anime is the plot, the events, and the political struggle.. at least atm...

When i say battle i dont only mean all out battle. I like strategic battles alot more.

I'm dowloading the first 4 eps just to see how good this show is. I have a weak spot for sci fi so i will probably like this show.

Still don't expect extremely good strategic battles yet... they should come on later on when the two main characters face each other or something

    Legend of Galactic Heroes

THIS SHOW KICKS ASS!! Some of the most interesting and realistic characters I've ever seen in a show.
A near perfect blend of military life, personal struggle, ambition, political strife, ruthless betrayal. This show has it all, without villifying or glorifying any particular side, and the dialogue and lines all seem to be very-well written ( & extremley well translated)
The battles aren't much to look at, but the strategy behind them is pretty damn impressive in my opinion. Some of the tactics and moves employed so far (up to episode 24) are quite brilliant and what really strikes me is how different leaders' strategies really correspond to what kind of person they are. Oberstein turning off those lights, so ironic. etc. etc.
While some of the battle strategy isn't too complex or extremely interesting, you got to keep in mind that the best strategy is the simplest and easiest to carry out. Many classic examples of foolishness and genius taken from military history are employed in this series.

Glad someone made a topic on this! I think Yang Wenli is the bomb!

    Legend of Galactic Heroes

I've sort of fallen behind on the old LOGH bandwagon. Still around episode 30 or so...

This series does have one of the sweetest stories and some excellent characters though. Just wish it wasn't so ugly... I can't tell if its the subbing group but the dialogue, narration and all written elements are superb. Feels more like a series of epic novels than an anime.

Damnit, this should be an awesome episode...

It's the last episode of the second season, so I'm sure something big will happen... I just hope none of the characters I like die in this battle.

And I need someone to download it for me, crap I can't wait.

Masamuneehs, what episode you on right now? Still on 30?

Earth cultists are crazy, like charlie manson.

This is by far the most epic anime I have watched in terms of scale. So far im up to 57, the series still has the same "history channel" feel (not a bad thing) as when the series started, but its gotten alot more graphic and, as a whole, alot more interesting. It sure will be interesting to see how Yang deals with his current situation. I still cant beleave that episode 57 is only just past the half way point, so much has already happened!

    Nice, another convert...

Yeah, this series is really amazing... it has gotten 10 times better since episode 26... The gore surprises me... the series is pretty clean, then all the sudden someone gets a bullet to the head and all his brain spills out...
