I don't really think that any coordinator would really hate Lacus that much, seeing her just on national broadcast is enough for coordinators to agree with what she had just said, whether its the truth or not . Then again maybe theres a small group of people angered at the weakness of the Clyne governing back in SEED so it might seem logical that its this group that wouldn't mind taking out Lacus. Its going with Gil's plan anyway, by taking out Lacus, Meer has the undivided attention of PLANT without the real one interfering. I still believe that Gil had a hand in it, just like the terrorists that dropped Junius 7. That seems to be logical for now until the show deems otherwise.
While earth was initially incensed at PLANT, even to the point of attacking it, Gil made attempts at peaceful talks with earth and used the defending of PLANT to further his war. EAF probably made the mistake of attempting to rally the whole of earth to fight PLANT once again, most countries remember what happened back in SEED and wanted to stay neutral. EAF had to forcefully round them up to join them, which was probably what Gil was expecting, making his cause of 'taking back' ZAFT's terroritories easier. The Logos speech was most likely a trump card to rally the whole world against Logos, taking out another obstacle.
