yeah thats the thing with Shinn, at this stage he is a character very likely to die at the end unless he mends his ways. But if Shinn does die, i am pretty sure he will take down someone really important with him as well, definitely!

Right, fave pilot? Heero, followed by duo (this sounds a bit gay, but he's cute) (i don want any damm deliberation over this homo thing) , Athrun then Kira

oh and theres yzak and dearka almost forgot cos they were sort of sidelined in destiny.

heero should be in he top 5...wing gundam had its limits (whatk ind of crappy gundam has only 3 shots?)
zechs as well..he's very skillful
then is athrun i think..if he put his all in destiny just like he did in seed..shinn won't be as insubortinate
shinn, though i hate him..he's an excellent pilot
the best pilot of them all, of course is kira yamato- best demonstrated during the fight at the desert

so its
1-kira
2-shinn
3-athrun (though i'd really like to put him first)
4-heero
5-zechs

i have not seen any of UC gundam series..sorry about that..and G gundam doesn't count
that said, does anyone know where i can find zeta gundam torrents?

What the fuck? No they aren't more reliable than him, and they are also vastly inferior pilots (as evidenced).

There have to be other good or even ace pilots that are more reliable as a pawn than this selfcentered brat.
He is not self-centered. He is naive, and very lonely at heart. Cut him some slack.

The only thing, that has made him a "good" pilot so far are his lack of concern for others on the battlefield and his SEED mode. If that's all that is to him then I' ll already say my goodbyes to ZAFT.
You make it sound like having the SEED mode is a small thing. Take a look at all his "few qualities" have done, and you might rethink your foolish ways! (with dramatic music playing)

And by the way, I couldn't care less about Stellar's tits. [img][/img] I just don't like stupid girls, although she was more of a child than stupid, which makes her even more unattractive, when I come to think about it...argh, terra, what are you doing to my mind...?
I don't like stupid girls either, but I like Stellar's tits.

I think they're more reliable in way, because they know how to follow orders, but are not completely lost as soon as there is no higher ranking officer around. Shinn on the contrary gives a shit about orders.
About piloting in general you're, of course, right. They are inferior. But as I pointed out above, this is not about piloting skills.

Naive? Maybe, but definately too much concerned with himself. But just as I said, this is quite usual for a 16 year old. But I won't cut him anything but his stupid head of his shoulders (literally speaking, of course ), because I really don't like the fact, that he just let his insane girlfriend eradicate entire cities and not even acknowledging these acts. I hope that most human beings with even just a little bit of reason would not behave that way, no matter if they love the other person or not. There's no way I would let my girlfriend take the lives of so many people or even give her the chance to do so. (On the other hand most people would probably refrain from eradicating cities, I guess )

SEED mode is by no means a small thing, but I fail to see the use of a pawn/soldier on a rampage and out of control in a game of chess. There are better ways to cause havoc...(triumphant, evil smile appearing on my face, threatening music playing)^^

About that last point of yours...well, ...uhm...good point there.

Shinn probably doesn't care about orders since he never gets punished.
The druggies get killed if they don't follow orders. A whole other kind of discipline.

As for Stellar in Destroy and Shinn's sentiments about it all... well, that's easy to say. But are you really so sure? Feelings for a person is a very complex thing. If your girlfriend destroyed a whole city, would your feelings for her fade? If you kill someone, would your mother stop loving you? Not necessarily. But frankly, I doubt that Shinn actually believes that what Stellar did was right. It's just that right now, it's her death that's on his mind because he loved her (or at least cared very deeply for her). Finally, he also knew that she didn't have a saying in at all (and so should you!)

About the chess... well, seeing as Gil is looking rather delighted I'd assume Shinn works quite well in his game. Also, this "rampaging soldier" which according to you can be replaced by something better destroyed both Kira & Athrun, so I'd say that he's doing SOMETHING right won't you agree? (Glorious smile and delighted roars of "YATTA" Azrael-style)

That is something I really miss, Shinn getting disciplined. Seems like there is a huge lack thereof. But they should've taught him discipline at academy, now it's probably too late.

Would my feelings fade? If my girlfriend had slaughtered so many people? Hard to tell, but I'd say, yeah, they probably would. To make things clear, I was first gonna answer "No, of course, they would not", but when I really think of it...hm, tough one. Anyways, if I was standing next to her with her pointing a gun(a huge one in this case) at group of innocent people with no means to defend themselves and I had the means to stop her, I would do it. I could never bear to live with the memory of just having allowed her to kill 'em. Certainly not an easy choice, but...
And I admit that Stellar was the ultimate pawn. She's not really at fault, but...oh well.

Well, about that SOMETHING: he is a good pilot, I'll give him that. But with a more reliable person all of the additional damage and confusion caused by him could have been minimized. And probably everything would just work out a lil bit smoother. Never use someone hotheaded and slightly "confused" as one of your crucial players. It might be nice for a change or a lil' surprise, maybe, but in the long run this will mess up all your stuff.

With that said, maybe we should be lucky that Dullindal chose him, makes it all the more harder for him to go through with his plan. And to be honest, he's not that good at character judging. He could've known, that Athrun wouldn't like what Gil's planning.

(selfassured wicked grin appearing, a slight chucke can be heard)^^

Hehe.

Well I agree really but then again I think the reason to why Gil has chosen Shinn as his crucial piece is just that.
The fact that he's hotheaded and just too naive (or stupid, if you want to be harsh) to realize that he is a pawn.
Kira would probably notice that he was being used, and Athrun already figured out the truth and left.

Shinn is great but he doesn't have what it takes to be my favorite Gundam pilot of all time.
He is a little too cocky and arrogant, disregards orders and has no respect for his supers. Sure he's a great pilot and is fueled by such raw emotion that its terrific to see him go berserk, but the guy is a retard for the way he handled the breakout with Stellar and trusting Neo (never trust a person whose face you cant see) as well as being a little too stupid sometimes for my taste.

I like Athrun because he is a great overall guy, but like Lunamaria pointed out, is never assertive enough to realize his full potential. He sort of became this listless lignering ghost of himself after episode 28 and only recently gained his resolve. He was my second favorite in Gundam Seed.

Yzak is great for all the reasons Terra and othes have constantly harped on. But the guy is too one-sided, too spiny, and too, well he just yells too much for me to really like. Plus he shot down that civilian shuttle in Seed and I don't think he got what he deserved and a very important event to me was then glossed over and almost forgotten for the rest of the series and covered briefly in Destiny, and we still don't know his real thoughts on it.

Deakka was my favorite Gundam Seed pilot. The mediator, funny and witty, smart enough to know which side to really fight for, handles his encounter with ZAFT afterward perfectly, brave and aggressive in battle, keeps Yzak on a leash. He is just the semi laid back realist that I would admire or at least relate to best.

Nichol was so sweet it almost gave me a cavity.

Then we have Auel Neider, who just didn't get enough screen time to be my favorite overall, but is up there.

And paying respect to the other Gundams:
Char is in the Top 10,
Amuro maybe Top 15,
G-Gundam pilots were all pretty "meh" and I couldn't care much for them, although I did watch the editted Cartoon Network version...
And totally opposite that long series, I really got attached to everyone in 8th MS Team, although it was too short to say any of them are favorites.
Heero Yuy way way down at the bottom,
Wufei Chang at the dead bottom,
Quatre Winner in the Top 10 (I really like the super nice goes, and he really had a huge role in episode 27- 31, where I thought the series finally found its best elements),
Duo Maxwell at 6 or 7 for being a funny guy with a kickass Gundam,
Trowa Barton #2 for being a great guy underneath a stone-cold killer, being the only one smart enough to employ spying and double-dealing against OZ, being pretty suicidal, and always making important points or interesting observations and staying quiet the rest of the time (his talk w/ Noin during the Antartica duel was striking, because it totally went against everything the rest of the characters were hyping up and glorifying.

Then Zechs is #1. Not a bad leader, just faced an unknown adversary with overzealous subordinates. Knew when to keep his love interest out of battle. Was a great, chivalrous, honorable fighter who loved battle not from bloodlust or glory but for personal satisfaction and peace of mind. Also realized, granted a period of some confusion, where he was supposed to be fighting and what to fight for, not just following orders blindly all the time.

Who may trump him? Rey Za Burrell, if he becomes the excellent villain I so see him having the potential to become. I love a good villain, and a smart guy who knows when to speak, how to act in every situation with a level head and respect, ruthlessness towards his enemy (without shooting down shuttles or any BS). The biggest strikes against him are his unwavering loyalty to Gil (which I hope will be covered well in upcoming episodes) and his being emotionally retarded aroudn everyone but Gil. If he wants to control Shinn, he needs to develop some sort of empathy and deeper connection.

And I absolutley HATE Kira Yamato for his goody-two-shoes actions during Destiny and being indestructible when he should be dead. How thefuck did that MS blow up, but the generator didn't? Did it just fall to pieces and cool down instantly because eh flipped a little switch at the last second? Why then wasn't his Phase Armor disengaged and the Beam melt his fucking face off, which is exactly what would have happened to anyone else...Guy is sitting next to a zillion degrees hot sword, a Nuclear Reactor that was just working overtime in an extended battle, and his MS is blowing to pieces, BUT he comes out with NOT A SCRATCH!!! I HATE THAT!!!

Humans are different from animals. We must die for a reason. Now is the time for us to regulate ourselves and reclaim our dignity. The one who holds endless potential and displays his strength and kindness to the world. Only mankind has God, a power that allows us to go above and beyond what we are now, a God that we call "possibility".

I agree with masemune here. It fucking sucks when you get the feelings that people can't be hurt. That's what I hate so much with Wing, it just isn't funny when people are invincible.

You don't hate Shinn terra and he comes out downright as pretty invincilble. The main reason you really hate Kira is coz he owned Yzak

This discussion isn't about someone's ability to get their ms blown up, it's about their probability of surviving it.
