They are Special Ops soldiers (or were). They wouldn't be emotional even if something bad had happened. Like Talho said, it's not some happy family onboard Gekko-Go. Besides, who knows if any or many of them were actually present right there when Diane supposedly went in.

I think we're jumping to conclusions about Diane going in. She was in Renton's vision, yes, but so was just about everything else. Hell, those three girls in this eps were in it as part of his class before they turned into whatever. Important things to Renton were in there, along with a lot of messed up stuff (that came from Anemone).

Renton's sister is pretty important to him, its no surprise she would show up.

Also, the members of the Gekko-Go do get emotional about Diane. Holland gets really weird when he starts thinking about her, and Talho gets really angry about her, and when Holland is thinking about her. If something happened, they'd show it on their faces.

It doesn't even matter that they were special ops. Holland loses his temper ALL the time. Talho gets really pissed off at the dumb shit Renton does, and she gets infuriated at Holland too. Hell, Gekko State wouldn't even have existed if it wasn't for Eureka and Holland getting emotional and going AWOL in that city.

Yeah, you are right. I worded that really bad. What I was trying to say is that even getting emotional wouldn't stop them from doing or trying to do something, because of their background.

If Eureka is a Coralian and that Scab/Skurve goop was what she came from or whatever, then how is it that those religious people know how to fix her? Might they have some type of religious connection with the creatures? As they said, the plot thickens more and more now. And I think Anemone was an attempt to clone/copy whatever Eureka is in an attempt to study/comunicate with/conquer the Coralians.

We learned about Eureka this episode and from the preview we should learn more about the Nirvash next time. I hope it turns out to be some cool lifeform like a baby Coralian or something, we'll see.

Just watched episodes 27, 28 and 29. I think you guys have covered every aspect of all three episodes.

This series has given us more questions than answers. Finally the truth about Eureka has become avilable. Now its Renton's sister turn.

So, if I understood correctly, Holland is all worked up about Renton's family because Diane disappeared after she left him. Renton is starting to get a little confused about Eureka's Coralian origins, and putting her off at a slight distance in his mind from time to time. He keeps seeing something else in her. The rest of the time he continues his protect her absolutely vow.

And Dewey plans to attack the Scab (formerly called Skurve) directly? Is this to stop all the earthquakes and other natural disasters that Adrock started up when he decided to make contact with the Coralians?

I don't know if I like the new (or is it old?) Talho look. The OP and ED has grown on me a lot though, so I guess we'll see.

Well this episode sucked... mainly because of Talho...

She went from super hot, to just a dumb broad...

Talho's new look is weird, it makes her body stand out more, though it's not as obviously hot as the old getup, and the hair just plain sucks. If these scientists we able to figure out all the nerves in these aliens, essentially making them cyborgs, when are we going to see all the human cyborgs that should have been created from similar research? Cause if there's one thing any show thrives on, it's cyborgs.

I hope they make Nirvash look different than before somehow, not just the same old, same old.

Well 30 wasn't the best E7 episode yet, but it addressed some things that were bound to come up eventually.

I also don't like Talho's new look. Then again, Eureka has also gotten uglier, and I think the creators are going for a 'the positive changes need to be made on the inside' kind of thing. This can also be seen in how Ray and Charles were always so into keeping their ship clean and neat, while the Gekko-go, whose forces were superior in the end, was usually messy and more chaotic. I also think the 'Inner beauty' being released is sorta the design behind the beauty of the Seven Swell. If this isn't just my imagination, then I wouldn't be surprised if the next version of the Nirvash is uglier than the old one. Better looking or worse, it will still be superior to its past self.

I'll never get over how poorly military technology is guarded in anime. Not even a single KLF platoon to guard your top R&D base? The scientist knows exactly what the commanders are going to use the weapon for? For crying out loud he just TOLD Holland what they were developing!

I'm really intrigued by what's going on with Maurice. Told ya it was going to be a big deal eventually.

I also don't get what exactly Dewey hopes to gain out of attacking the Skurve (Scab). From the episode preview it looks like a massive air strike. But won't that just really fuck up the planet that humans still have to live on? That guy needs more screentime so we can figure out what the enemy is really up to.

A decent episode. I have no bigger problems with Talho's new looks. So much have changed for the crew of Gekko-Go that it's no miracle some crew members feel the need to change themselves, also externally. And I think a good show with a strong plot won't be any worse if the characters aren't only designed so that the audience can leer at them. In my opinion while Talho certainly didn't get any hotter, quite the contrary, she didn't get ugly either.

Whilst Masamuneehs does have a point about the lack of visible defences of the R&D facility, the Gekko-Go got in through peaceful means, in the end. We don't know what kind of weaponry they had there. There could have been also KLFs in some hangar. And of course they had those strange new weapon prototypes...

If there was any military personnel stationed at the Tresor R&D base they must be the worst soldiers in history. The Gekko-go, with or without fake landing codes, is an easily recognizable ship. Hell, letting any ship in general land at your top R&D base is idiotic.

There couldn't have been any military people at Tresor because they would have done SOMETHING upon seeing the Gekko-go. They certainly wouldn't sit by and allow their resources to be used to restore the biggest threat posed to them by their greatest human enemy. What kind of military just throws an important job to a group of engineers and then doesn't leave an officer to oversee the progress? Dewey must be low on men or plain stupid...

Maybe they were just military contractors, responsible for their own safety. Actually you proved that yourself by saying there weren't any purely military personnel present: That means it's not a military base. It's just a research and development base making stuff for the miliaty upon contracts. Chances are they would never ask for armed forces to be stationed there; They looked like people happy with their independence.

Not going to add to the discussion much yet. Just wanted to say that I started this a little while ago and am at ep 13, and damn but if it isn't a pretty good series. Probably take me a while to catch up on it, but that's a good thing

Yeah. What a tender moment between Renton and Eureka... And of course true to the anime traditions, it had to be disturbed. Damn, you could really see how Renton gathered and accumulated all the courage he could possibly muster to this moment, and then it had to go to waste. What a damn pity...

But damn I hate those twisted kids that every now and then pop up in anime. Now I'm talking about that troupe the military is employing. It's not like their job (whatever it might be) couldn't be performed by some experienced soldiers. Or is the thing they are doing so unethical that only brainwashed kids would possibly do it without hesitation (that is, be stupid enough to do it)? Doh, if it was so bad, they should let a computer do it. Would probably be cheaper.

    Thoughts on 31:
Loved the contrast between Eureka's talking about bloody hands and Renton's literally oozing cleaning product.

Bear is hilarious. I said something like his theory before, and I believe he's very close to the truth of why Eureka was sent by the Coralians.

Ageha squad: badass. Granted they are an anime cliche, but man nothing's more sinister than an evil child. I also think that Dewey needs people equally insensitive to others. Children are selfish, easily influenced/brainwashed, perfect for this plan. Jet Black said it best, "And, really, there's nothing more pure and cruel than the mind of a child..."

Was Dewey coming on to that sage? I love how he provoked an attack by the Scab Corals to get humans on his side. I can only wonder how nobody (Dominic!) figured out he and the Aghea Squad was behind it? plot convienence...

Noticed something interesting. In the flashback when Eureka finds the 3 kids Link looks to be unconscious, Matear is crying so hard her eyes are shut. But Maurice is staring straight at Eureka. Goes a long way to explain his growing distant from her.

You heard it here first: Dominic and Anemone will defect from Dewey's squad. Dominic cares too much about the girl, and Dewey seems to be more interested in the Ageha squad right now.
