From what I remember of the manga ending, it shouldn't be totally unreasonable.

    Indeed, 67mins was comfortable.

I had to rewatch OVA-9 to remind myself of how the battle went.

Alucard's defeat and resultant resurrection has me somewhat confused. When Schrödinger killed himself and merged with the pool, did he retain any sense of self? What exactly happens to people Alucard absorb? In Seras's example she was living along with the mercenary. They both had their own identities.

Does the vampire have unquestionable control over their own bodies, or do they have to actively dominate their will above the other lives, with the failure of doing so leading to the loss of control over their bodies? Or is it a case of the vampire storing their lives within himself, taking their abilities, but sealing their will also?

In Alucard's example, my biggest confusion is whether Schrödinger existed within Alucard or not. If he was a life within Alucard (one that he needed to kill), how does Alucard kill something that he wasn't able to before? If Schrödinger merely donated his life-energy and ability to Alucard, then is it more correct to say that Alucard disappeared because he wasn't self-aware (amongst all the other shit inside him), as opposed to Schrödinger?

But damn.. Seras and her big guns. :3

Isn't it easier if you just think it Schrödinger's special ability? Alucard absorbed it in his spilled blood and found it hard to get rid of it.

Other than that, I reckon the vampire is in control of all the souls, but his own original personality might get diluted and thus change. One might say Seras's personality changed in a good way after the absorbed Bernadotte, although considering her basic, original personality that's preventing her from turning into a real monster, I'm sure she will never be happy she had to do it.

It would seem as if Schrödinger's ability was given to Alucard, that is correct. But then the reason Alucard disappeared was due to:

    a) Schrödinger no longer being aware of himself? or
    b) Alucard not being aware of himself.

The end suggests that Alucard never got rid of Schrödinger's power. He instead killed everyone within himself until he remained - and that self-awareness allowed him to materialise right there in front of Integra. This conclusion however, requires Schrödinger's identity to never exist in Alucard after absorption, or that he was killable after absorption.

Having to kill all souls also means Alucard won't be able to store lives within him anymore, right?

I'd imagine under normal circumstances a vampire lord of Alucard's calibre would be in control to the extent of being able to decide how much somebody from within could manifest itself. I doubt he would allow Schrödinger too much luxury in that respect (never as much as Seras is giving Bernadotte). So, I think he can separate the special powers (and knowledge) of those he absorbs from their personality, although I still think his own personality will be affected and changed by the traces of those he ingests. Thus, he gained Schrödinger's troublesome power and disappeared. But you are right that it must have required him to kill all the extra souls within himself to be in a position to get in control of Schrödinger's power. If it's a power that requires the mind to be of one opinion whether to exist or not, then having multiple minds pondering it would never be any good.

Who knows, but it's not relevant anymore with the story over.

I have no idea how this shitty anime ever became popular.

The first 3 episodes or so were much more consistent with vampire lore and stuff (you know, actually hunting down vampires that go around feeding without a care), but sometime after that they just dropped everything and turned it into a show about war, supernatural abilities and blood.

Perhaps as Alucard says, it's more interesting if a human takes up the challenge instead of filling the show with monsters.

Forgot about 9 and 10 and watched them this weekend. Great finish. I havent read the manga in a while, but I think Alucard explained about Schrödinger and that it took 30 years to kill off all 3+ million other souls in his body so only Schrödinger was left and with that, he was able to regain his self conscious, thus allowing Alucard to live again. Also since he is able to draw upon their powers, I would venture to guess that Alucard is truly immortal now with Schrödinger inside of him.

That would make sense, except that Schrodinger died. If someone committed suicide and was then absorbed by Alucard, does that person still have a will inside Alucard?

Well, as they keep on saying, The blood is the currency of the soul. So as long as the blood is absorbed so would the soul I guess.
