Lilium of Elfen Lied.
There are great many marvelous songs in anime that I have heard, and I could write here a long list, but I'll stick to mentioning just one. Not only is Lilium such an extraordinary song, and the visuals of the OP extraordinary as well, but coupled together with this is the fact Elfen Lied was one of my earliest anime shows. And as such it had a tremendous impact on me. So, it's only natural I name Elfen Lied my number one anime show and its opening my number one anime song.

My favorite OP would have to be Avenger's OP Gesshoku Grand Guignol. Followed in a close second by Bleach's 3rd OP, Ichirin No Hana by High and mighty Color.
Favorite Anime song out of them, would have to be Madlax's Nowhere, by FictionJunction-Yuuka.

Wind by Akeboshi (1st ending Naruto - my favorite ending of any anime)
I liked the opening songs to Fate/Stay Night and Shakugan No Shana.... The female voice is just sexy.
Well, I like anything by Yuki Kajiura (See-Saw and FictionJunction) and KOTOKO. But if I really have to pick one, it'd probably be God Knows by Aya Hirano (The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi Insert song) it's just awesome.
O, Fullmetal Panic and FMP:TSR OP's are pretty good too.
I'm kind of amazed you guys can so readily pick a single favorite. It all depends on my mood at the time, what I'm doing (homework, reading manga, driving, etc). I can't pick only one, hence the list on the previous page.
a few other
Motherland - Crystal Kay, FMA 4th ED
No Regret - Koda Kumi, Law of Ueki 2nd OP
Mayonaka no taiyou (The Midnight Sun) - Kuroda Kayoko, Tenchi GXP OP
Every Heart - BoA, Inuyasha 4th ED
Tenchi Muyo! (Love Will Leave You Crying) - SONIA, Tenchi Universe OP

Almost all music from ROLW (it was my first anime so it's my fav. as well)
The 2nd or 3rd opening of Naruto and a few openings/endings of FMA
most of the music from mushishi was really good :)
music from chobits was very happy.

Hm, Lucifus is lazy and has but like 3 soundtracks on his computer and PSP and has no clue where to go hunting for soundtracks. So, to help Lucifus and his laziness, would someone kindly provide some links to whats listed here, which Lucifus is sure, will kick ass. :D
gosh there's no way i could answer this question... there's been so many animes, and so many quality songs... unfortunately, i tend to remember the songs from OPs and EDs and forget all about some of the awesome tracks that play throughout the actual show itself, since most tracks don't have a fitting/distinct animation sequence to go with...
the first song i can remember being gaga about was "Who will give their lives?" off of Gundam Wing (most memorable in the final episode fight between the Wing Zero and Epyon)and from there White Reflection off the Endless Waltz. Haruka Kanata (Naruto OP #?), Asterisk (Bleach OP 1), ignited (Gundam SEED Destiny OP 1 or 2), and so many more that i can't even recall... quite a shame too. i really like looking through this thread, reminds me of alot of good songs I'd forgotten about
edit - forgot about Life Goes On, one of the EDs from GSD. "I wanna go to a place..." is another GSD ED that rocked... shame that that show had such crap story to go with the awesome music and pretty rocking animaiton...
Do you happen to have a link for that song ("Who will give their lives?") that you could PM me? Thanks.Quote:

i'm pretty sure it's off of the Operation 1 CD... but now I am beginning to doubt that I got the name right... it's been several years since i had these songs, and i sure don't recall where i originally found them (probably Kazaa on a dial-up...) Probably is what's listed here as track 34... and the titles of the songs are horribly translated...
http://www.altpop.com/stc/reviews/gundamwo1.htm
actually, looking at the list of tracks from the Operation 1 CD reminds me how many good tracks that show had in it.
Just something to add to my list:
Mai-HiME PS2 Game Opening: Ali Project - Asura Hime
The following is a link to view the opening. The video itself is alright, but I think the music fits really well.

Yeah, necro bump. Was going to start a new thread, but this one will do.
Been thinking the past few days on anime songs that have stayed with me throughout the years... and there were about 3 that always seem to be in the forefront for varying reasons. So kept thinking on songs, and the list kept growing, so just going to post a few that I think are very good anime songs. And hey, now we can post videos, so let's revive this shit.
1. Kurau Phantom Memory - Insert Song - Lonely Freedom by Yukari Katsuki
This is by far my all-time favorite anime song. Not only is it beautiful, but it was perfect for the series. Even more so, when this song played, it played through one of the most touching scenes I've seen in anime. So the song, coupled with the scenes just made it absolutely perfect. I wish the scene was still up on YouTube, but it was taken down. So for now, just enjoy the song... it's the first one in the video. It never fails to give me goosebumps.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN9SNq0mkTs
2. Ergo Proxy - OP - Kiri by MONORAL
Simply put, this song REALLY put me in the mood for each episode of Ergo Proxy and I just really like it. I don't think there's much to say other than that, but that it really fit the anime and just set the tone perfectly for me. It really stayed with me, and when I try to recall Ergo Proxy the first thing that comes to mind is this song in particular.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAXrRWLKzko
3. School Rumbler - ED - Onna no Ko Otoko no Ko by Yuko Ogura
In contrast to the previous 2, this one in particular was more about how fun it was to end each episode this way. It has a catchy tune, and I thought the lyrics were clever with nice rhythm.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZdGBB6Kit8
4. DearS - OP - Love Slave by Haruko Momoi
Honestly, I don't know why I'm listing this here, or why this song has never left me, but that's the thing... I think anime song, just about the first song that pops into my head is this one. It's nuts. I don't even think it's that good, but man has it stayed with me throughout the years.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksJ52xCq1xI
Anyways, hope you guys share some of yours (which you probably have as it is earlier in the thread).
That's a good choice. Was probably mine for quite awhile.
I think mine is most likely:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQwxKpu-HfA
Though it's hard to argue with You Say Run these days...
easy :>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy-H-KJRYbw
and I used to sing along to this, but it's in german.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoOF1oEI7G8
The japanese themes rarely do it for me. There are some that I like, but very often it's just a small part I like very much and I endure the rest to get to that part.
I have a couple, but this wins by a hair.
https://youtu.be/Utl_Yt5RWfQ
I'd probably pick something from Symphogear, but I don't know how I would decide among all the great songs.
Radiant Force from the Season 3 opening scene had quite the amazing scene to go with it: https://track3.mixtape.moe/jjgwte.webm
Second Flight (Onegai Twins) - Still my absolute favorite anime song by an insane margin. Perfect tempo, with a beat that just conveys forward momentum. KOTOKO and Takase Kazuya's arrangements are always good, but the ones she performed herself? Crazy.
https://youtu.be/X9RyipTBE7M
Groovin' Magic (Diebuster) - I love NINO's voice, and this is probably one of her most fun anime songs.
https://youtu.be/Ggrt9qtUEHI
Shiki no Uta (Samurai Champloo) - Wish I could find the full version somewhere online to share it, but Champloo's jazzy ED has a great soothing feel.
https://youtu.be/mQAfG3DgG7M
Scramble (School Rumble) - Still love it. Just fun.
https://youtu.be/VyErqaeieEU
Utsukushi Kereba Sore de Ii (Simoun) - Wish I could find one with clearer sound, but this one is hard to track down. Can't even embed a non-cover version of the song. The anime it was on was...pretty terrible, but the song still sticks with me. The refrain conveys motion very well.
http://dai.ly/x5kuad
Shoujo Meiro de Tsukamaete (Strawberry Panic) - Another one where I really like the tempo of the song.
https://youtu.be/xzQwppF-pEM
Kata Tsubasa no Tori (Umineko no Naku Koro ni) - The OP it comes from is one of the better OPs of all time from the framing, song choice, visuals, adapting and updating through the series, but the full version of the song is even better.
https://youtu.be/Hk1a7HSXZoM
Taishou a (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai) - Haunting, soulful...fuck I love this song. And oh yeah, the lyrics.
https://youtu.be/5ptnDFsmSGk
I don't know, but it would be good if you could pin point to the anime series along with the song you're posting =)
Funny on the School Rumble one, I loved the OP as well... but for me it was always about the ED as I indicated on my previous post
Here are a few more:
1. Aldnoah Zero - ED - aLIEz by Hiroyuki Sawano
Probably my favorite song in the more recent years and made me become a big fan of Sawano. He seems to draw the ire from many people, but to me he's usually spot on with the song selections
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVaRSPaBlDc
2. Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan - OP - Theme by Saeko Chiba
Now, I find this funny... this one has stayed in my head throughout the years and I've only watched 1 episode, if that at all... but it's SO catchy. I guess I have a thing for themes like this that are custom made for the series and come off as fun jingles ~Pi piru piru pi~
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKp-tOmmi9Y
3. Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase - OP - Neko Mimi Mode by Chiwa Saito with Dimitri from Paris
In my younger years I used to listen to some Dimitri, but that aside, I don't think this needs explaining.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lflXu4bRA8
Fixed, with series attached.
I have two more as well.
Makka na Chikai (Busou Renkin) - Seriously...how can you not immediately love this song?
https://youtu.be/qGACnQfyUls
Shirabe and Kirika Duet (Symphogear G) - There are better versions of this out there, but what sets this one apart is that it is actually two completely distinct songs (Oukyo Shulshagana and Gokuren Igalima). But when they're superimposed on top of each other, they compliment each other instead of overriding (musically and thematically), and they even have synchronized moments of harmony. It fits in perfectly with their character arc in the series. That's some seriously impressive composition and lyrics work.
https://youtu.be/w7yTufECls0
You're simply reminding me of how many anime I've missed watching throughout the years.
A few more:
1. Rozen Maiden - Ending - Toumei Shelter by Kukui
Really don't have much to say on this, just that it had a cool catchy beat and it was always a welcomed sight after each episode ended.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVjMpMjPYGs
2. The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye - OP - Sajou no Yume by Yuko Sasaki
This is another song that has stuck with me throughout the years. It brings me quite a bit of angst because while it was a favorite series during the season it was airing, I can't recall if I ever finished it for some reason. I've been on the verge of re-watching at least the 2nd half.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im-Q6_vuhcQ
3. Madlax - Insert Song - Nowhere by FictionJunction Yuuka
Like them or not Bee Train series are filled with distinctive songs throughout all their series. The songs may change, but often just by hearing the style of the song you could tell it was a Bee Train series. Among them, from the ones I recall, this one in particular stood at the top.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mArmkaZMU0
