Their subs aren't just mediocre, they're just plain wrong.

well this was really needed its hard to watch 18 episodes and not have a clear bad guy and i dont care what your reason when you attack unarmed civilians you are EVIL! and man poor Louise and Saji I was at the point wear i was hateing those two but if there is anybody i want to see get some revenge its these two. now lets hope exia can bring the pain and is not just going to get owned.
no, the real question is, "could Graham be any more awesome than he is after whupping up Eins with his Over Flag Custom?"
i'd like to direct your attention to two things in regards to that encounter...
1. Graham has a Gundam beam saber now, which could be equipped on his Flag to make it even more awesome...
2. The Flag finally shows that it, when in the right hands (Graham's, that it), is an amazingly well built and dangerously fast mobile suit, even if it does hand out wicked g-force punishment on its pilot...
in general, Graham's speech about his love of the Union Flag mobile suit tells me he won't be getting a Gundam at any point soon... more likely, he'll get a stylishly badass upgrade to his Flag...

i must say, the Louise/Saji situation was amazingly well done. the emotion portrayed in that single scene is the sort of thing that keeps me continually interested in G00.
i did, however, in a blog or something like that, see someone make a very interesting point about Saji... here goes me moving on with that, since i'm feeling pretty secure in my already stated theories regarding stolen Celestial Being/Solar Furnace technology, etc etc...
alright, so, Louise's entire family is killed and she loses her left hand (importantly symbolic in relationships, since it is the hand a wedding ring is worn on, thus she now feels she can never be married (?) or something of that nature)... his sister is digging deeper and deeper into the Celestial Being organization and all of the odd things having to do with it over the past... she's going to probably end up getting waxed soon as well... and then we've got Saji. poor, nice guy Saji... his life in shambles... what is an engineering student to do? enlist? perhaps talk to his friend/neighbor Setsuna? maybe join up with Celestial Being?
at the very least, Saji is soon to become notably more relevant, i think...
Gundam 00 - 18 - [Shinsen]
Grahm Acre is like unto the Gods. I've NEVER seen anyone disarm a Gundam and then use their Gundamy weapon against them. Utter pwnage, screw Mwu La Flaaga and Zechs Marquise, its' all about Grahm. *drools at the thought of Grahm in Tallgeese *
And Saji and Louise, that was just plain depressing. Poor Louise never did anything to anyone and now she's like that. And what's worse the Trinity bros weren't even that bothered by what she did. There's no way people who have absolutely no compassion could be tools for stopping war, since they would have no reason to want war to end. This makes me pretty confident that the Trinity's were brought on specifically to accomplish whatever the secret evil mission is and the original Gundams are all just dupes.
After a while an episode I was pretty satisfied with, and don't have much to complain about. Graham was indeed kicking ass in a splendid manner, and it was made even more believable and in a certain manner cool by the fact how he exceeded the acceleration safety limits in order to win. And yet kept his head cool enough to immediately switch to the Gundam blade.
The only complaints I could have about this episode are the AEU forces' nonexisting AA skills (like a couple of dozen mobile suits shooting at a practically stationary object and none scoring a hit - wft?) and the passiveness of the governments when their bases and other installations are being wiped out left and right. They should already declare a state of war and mobilize their full wartime armed forces to counter the threat and minimize losses. The longer they wait, the more resources they will lose before anything can happen.
Wow that was so screwed up, for Louise, her parents, and that married couple. I kinda feel sympathy for them now and if their characters continue to be well written in future episodes like this one I might even start to liking them. I really well it seems to me that Nena might end up becoming the Frey of this series. Also Im surprised Marina hasnt made that much of a appearence the last few episodes considering she supposed to be the leading lady if im not mistaken.

I really have no choice but to first mention that Graham is exceedingly awesome, easily the best pilot in this series, and probably most of the others.
If it was in the comments of a blog, it was probably me that reminded you that Saji and Louise were Aerospace Engineering students in college. I seemed to be one of the only people that remembered. Does that mean that they will be ready to help out someone to kill the Gundams right away? Maybe not, but the possibility exists.
It's awful that Nena attacked the wedding simply on the basis of thinking that it was unfair for people to have fun because she had to work. Worse, Johan didn't care, and Michael actually thought it was funny.
I'm betting Nena dies first. It shouldn't be too hard to kill her, since she doesn't seem to have very strong weapons for Mobile Suit combat (more than enough to kill people though). That way, sister-complex Michael will go insane with rage, and be an easy kill for one of the others. Johan might even lose his cool too. That, and the writers have certainly vilified her the most.
I wouldn't say easily the best. If we believe you, the AEU mobile suit is clearly inferior to the Flag, and thus Ali who has fared pretty well with one would thus need to be an excellent pilot indeed (fighting well with an even poorer mecha).Quote:

Pretty nice episode, despite what happened to Louise(her and her bf are the show's punching bag). I'm really starting to not like the trinity sibs. Them going around claiming to want to stop war while killing pretty much everyone(it was probably them who shot that guy in the street) is the "evil" way to do this.
They need a serious ass kicking, unfortunately Setsuna sucks and can't do anything, and enemies never kill each other the first time around(according to the anime bible). It was still a nice ending though.
I have to admit, I got choked up during the Louise and Saji scene.
That doesn't really matter in the bigger picture. I sometimes wonder if Setsuna even knows about the ultimate goal. Probably not. He seems like a person who has been told they are there to stop wars, and likely that's the only thing that could have made him interested, considering he's from a stock of simple minded fanatics. However, Setsuna taking action will hopefully force the rest of the CB to do something as well, regardless of whether they initially just wanted to sit on their hands hoping they can adjust their plans accordingly, no matter what the Throne does or not. Right now the ultimate goal, especially since it hasn't been clearly stated, is still a bit abstract to be considered of much use to the plot in practice.Quote:

I thought the Throne dude self-destructed the arm so that the Union wouldn't be able to retrieve and study it.
i could be wrong but it looked like the arm completly blew up and or was detonated. i find it hard to beleave they would just leave it behind. and even then who cares without a doubt the gundams are constructed on another level, but im pretty sure the main reason they kick so much ass in this series has to do with the solar reactors?
I don't think it would matter anyway. It's my understanding that the Gundam beam weaponry in Anno Domini relies entirely on GN particles. All of Exia's blades supposedly have a thin layer of the particles projected over them, enabling them to cut very cleanly despite looking like an airplane wing.
Since Billy won't be able to create a Solar Furnace, or probably even a copy of one like the Thrones have, the stolen beam saber won't do any good. We should really be amazed that the GN particles stayed in Johan's blade long enough for Graham to cut the arm off.
I'm a bit worried about Kinue though. If the AEU pilot was shot right after their meeting for divulging that information, whomever is behind this (undoubtedly Alejandro and the Thrones) will have her on their list now too.
She hasn't had her chance to shine yet, and I fear it will probably be a blaze of glory...
And I also assume Marina's role is next to worthless now.
I think everyone will agree with me when I say that Gundam matured with Ep 18. Breaking the "Gundam Loop".( Powerup Hardship Powerup Hardship Powerup )
Adding a new faction that is yet similar to the principal, yet an enemy is well done.
And finally some well done drama.
With that, I think now we can say that Gundam 00 is not only about Mecha and lasers.
That should be true if the sword's efficiency is based on the particles. However, it's no wonder it stayed active as long as it did. After all, the dragoon system (or whatever it was called) stays active for a really long time after completely detaching from the main unit. Also, although the Thrones just seem to be attacking bases at random, you think a trap involving some hydrogen bombs could be set up somewhere along the way...
That scene with Saji and Louise was awesome. Dude bought her an accessory for the one body part she lost. That's some O'Henry irony right there. Looking forward to seeing how he continues to develop. Maybe one day he'll even be as cool as his sister, who kicks more ass than CB's intelligence.
Alejandro Corner plays it well enough... but I'm still pretty sure he's evil. Wang Liu hot body Min showed an interesting perspective too, almost as if she'd be open to the Thrones' agenda... But probably just a terrible Shitsen mistranslation.
How have you people not talked about Livonze and Tieria yet? Seriously, I know you guys don't like to speculate as much as I do, but there was some major shit going on with those two in this episode. After learning that Tieria is somehow part computer, we find that part of Veda has been altered and then access blocked. Sumeragi expresses it later, but Veda being breached really messes up CB's operations. We're also introduced to the idea that there might be a traitor somewhere in CB. And, if we're to actually believe Alejandro Corner's words and that he's actually not up to no good.
Well, aside from the fact that the Veda-breached scene ends with an otherwise totally inexplicable shot of Livonze, there's also the next episode teaser...
So, let's try to weigh in here. What's up with Livonze and Tieria? Are they both somehow cyborgs that can interact with Veda? I'm thinking that Livonze is the upgraded version that doesn't have gender-switch malfunctions. They seem too human to have AI, but I imagine Livonze might have been tampered with by whoever is behind "Lagna" and the Thrones. He's certainly in a position to get ass loads of stuff from Alejandro Corner (wording chosen deliberately here), but is Corner really that dumb? I'm betting they're humans that have been so enhanced with nanomachines that they can actually control them, although they retain a human personality.
I'm finally very happy that Setsuna went off on his own like the terribly insubordinate snot he's proven himself to be.
I lol'd at Lockon's comment about "I'm no Allelujah, but I can hear the cries of the world against us"
Lastly, goddamn the Trinity triplets are fucking stupid.

If you think about it a bit, you will realise two things: If it's impossible to study, it wouldn't have been developed in the first place. And furthermore, it was developed a long time ago using inferior equipment and inferior knowledge (the initial situation). Like giving an mp3 player to some old scientist geezer from the year 1913 or giving it to somebody from 1981. Neither would really know what it is, aside from the fact it contains and plays an awesome amount of music, but the one from 1981 would be in an inifinitely better position to understand it. I didn't want to say it, because it is totally lame and a cliche, and I was hoping by not mentioning it, that I might be wrong.
From the teaser in the preview, the suspicion on Alejandro switched to Livonze. Sure, Alejandro is an evil bastard well enough in his own right, but that smile just gives off the "I'm the real evil mastermind. Nobody suspected me!" sound bite followed by minutes of evil laughter.
But I know what's really going to happen....

Louise, totally distraught from the loss of her mother and her hand, will wander off aimlessly. Livonze, confident in his soon to be victory, will kidnap Louise, and drop her into the Dark Satan Gundam hidden underneath one of the Space Elevators. The Gundams will fly up and try to hold her off. Even the Thrones will have a change of heart after being used by Livonze so badly. Then Setsuna, a little down after being whipped around by the Thrones a short time ago, will hear of Saji and Louise's plight, and trade Exia to Saji. After that, Saji will upgrade Exia. Then he'll fly up, and declare to Louise that he loves her, and can't be without her. Louise will be freed from the DARK SATAN GUNDAM and it will explode.

The way i see is that Setsuna rejected Thrones as part of CB,CB would never attack civilians or any pilots would say "it's not fair", which leaves they nothing more then a terrorist group. And it is CB duty to eradicate any armed forces that seek conflict.

I'm having a hard time givin' that they will improve as much as you've stated iny our post about shieldings or any other kind of resistance, if not the Professor did somewere/somehow stash a "legacy" to support Billy with proper information/equiment.
The connection between those two feels more than it's portrayed, wich means IF this goes deeper and Billy finds more, somehow Sumeragi will be involved, even having the thoughts of silencing him. Sure, maybe way to brutal.
It would be a nice twist having Billy dead, telling on his death bed that he somehow developed a new suit for Graham. (for the next season, and yes, give our poor mediocorefuckingbestpilot something that his body can handle)
Giving that it's "mostly" a beam saber, fueled by GN Particles, they still have to figure the particles itself. They do need more than a beam saber but I am SO not seeing getting a peak at the current Gundams.

i hate to say it, but the more i think on Livonze, the more I think Ryll might be right... honestly, it'd make the most sense if he AND Alejandro Corner were in the evil side of the pool together, because otherwise Corner is one of the biggest idiots I've seen in a while...

1 - Graham is awesome! (lots of people said it... but I have to say it again!)
2 - I'm amazed that know really thought that what Setsuna did is also awesome, the "I have decided that..." means that he basically means, he's passed judgement! He's the hammer of God. BTW, if you look at the preview the Trinitys don't seem like they are playing with him (even tho two are just watching), so he's not gonna just get owned.
3 - Someone in another thread was talking about how the powers only use one type of suit. well, in this ep, they showed a Union pilot in something called a Rialdo. also, i rewatched the ep where the thrones first appeared, and Patrick Corlasawar was the only one in an Enact. the other AEU units were Hellions. and HRL has been using quite a few variants of their suits for a while. The Enact and Flags are simply the F-22, Eurofighters of their time.
btw... I don't want Graham to get a Gundam... i love the Flags... I wish all the good guys would get Flags...
Hmm...I'd say the Louise thing was more Maupassant that O'Henry, but I might be wrong. Anyway, the Livonze-Tiera "enhanced human" theory seems pretty interesting, since we know that Tiera isn't quite normal, and the shot of Livonze during the preview was pretty ominous (also the one after they showed Tiera realizing Veda's being hacked). I think that Nena also had something to do with it.
And finally we hear the mention of Espionage being a possibility to some of the troubles that are occurring to various factions. I mean besides Wang Liu-Mei's Green Hornet friend, we haven't had too much mention of that, which I was a bit surprised at, seeing as how I would think that would be a part of the..well, let's say political dealings between factions. You should always try to get a man on the "inside" in order to see what your enemies are up to. (Now that I think about it, that may have been Ali's role. Maybe he was more than a simple mercenary...think about it).
And yes, of course Graham is full of win, but where was Daryl at when he flew off?? Also, I don't think the arm exploded, and to boot, its in the Union territory, so if they can retrieve it, it should tell them something about Gundam tech, even though we found out the thrones use 'incomplete' solar furnace units.
The other suits were probably old models. The Flags and Enacts were the latest suits and might not have been out in high enough numbers yet to equip all of the air forces with them. Graham actually said in this ep he was the main test pilot for Flags, and affected that the Union chose it as their main mobile suit. So, we can also assume it had competition from other contractors, although it's likely those other latest generation suits only exist as a few prototype units the air forces could test. The same goes for the AEU as well, probably. Although considering it's Europe it would also be possible the competitors could have higher numbers out (produced by its individual country of origin).Quote:

I just got the different factions names a bit mixed up. Of course I knew it was in

granted it is sad as to what happened to Louise, but i see her purpose in Gundam more to show the effect of War or conflict on civilians. it shows that even if you are a non-com, no one is safe from the battlefield, and civilians usually are the ones who suffer from someone else's choices. they have been involved in at least maybe wat, 2 or 3 incidents? first with the orbital block, the bus-bombing, and now for louise a random act of violence.
yeah, actually, it's sorta crazy how many times they've gotten caught up in stuff. More likely that Saji would get hit by a car on his pizza route than all of this... but you had to see something bad happening with Louise's rich family eventually...Quote:

Everything's been said pretty much...just a few things I might add:
1) Being able to replace the arm isn't really the issue. I can imagine a wedding nowadays, and the bride has to use a prosthetic hand. Not being able to feel the ring being put on is a pretty big emotional hurdle.
2) Regarding Trinity's seemingly armed interventions, they seem to be taking orders from the Veda counterpart they call Lagna, hence which may explain how they hacked Veda with relative ease. I'm thinking that it was Nena who hacked Veda, and changed the data at level 7. The solar furnace blueprints were already on evil Haro, and they just worked off that.
now this is exactly the kind of thing that was heavily implied by the Jupiter flashback scene, and the fucking Haro's "brother! Your memories!" plot setup. Oh lame Haro plot.Quote:

You realise how many nerve there are on the human finger? Technology will get far, that I'm sure, but I'm skeptic as to whether they will ever produce a replacement hand that good, if at all, due to technological and economic reasons. In the end, regrowing a hand will seem the cheaper way to go, the way I see it. They can mimick it, but I don't think it will ever be the same, like feeling the warmth of someone holding your hand and such. Then again, we're talking about an era where robots the size of skyscrapers can walk easily, something that's way ahead of our time.Quote:

Well, the thing about her condition is that she must heal her spirit before she can heal her flesh. Like, she just suffered a devastating event, the least of which is the loss of her hand. She has to come to terms with that psychologically first, then she can think about prosthesis.

I've been reading around, and I've seen some pretty good arguments for the translation of what I assume to be Trinity's super AI:
Lagna: google "lagna astrology". To do with the creation of the earth. Has ties with Vedas.
Ragna: Old Norse Ragnarök is a compound of ragna, the genitive plural of regin ("gods" or "ruling powers"), and rök "fate" (etymologically related to English "reach"). Ragnarřkkr is another form with a slightly different meaning, as "rřkkr" means "twilight".
In Danish ragnarok is also used as a synonym for chaos.[5]
Lacuna: missing pages of manuscripts. Can be interpreted as the missing part of CB's plan
I thought about Ragnarok first, assuming the mispronunciation "l" for "r." But I had dismissed it due to the Norse Mythology that Ragnarok was the day of reckoning, doomsday.
However, knowing that it's the genitive plural of "ruling powers" or "gods" makes perfect sense. Trinity (obvious deity reference) piloting Throne Gundams, and generally using them in an aggressive manner with an air of superiority and disregard of other humans. Genitive plural ---> "of the gods/ruling powers."
Making Lagna nearly literally, the Quantum Computer of the Gods.
The tie in with Vedas, "sacred texts," is just icing on the cake.

A bit late but to say that this episode was awesome would be a gross understatement. I'm so happy that Graham finally got his chance to shine and what a way to shine it was! There is no doubt that he single-handedly dominated this episode and made his position as one of the top dogs clear enough. But despite Graham's awesomeness Ali remains my favorite pilot in Gundam 00. I just like the guy's style and he possesses some seriously mean skills.
And let's not forget little Nena! Seriously, the douchebaggery practiced by Nena in this episode even made a villain loving scumbag like myself go "... did that fucked up little shit just do that?" When I realized that she had, in fact, just ganked the entire wedding I could merely nod my pretty little head, relocate my inner sociopath and go "... awesome." Though I have to admit that the Saji and Lousie scene made me sniffle just a little bit despite me having disliked those characters for forever. It was just so ruthless...
Needless to say, I loved it all... even the sniffling. Good stuff!

What can I say about the coolness of this episode that hasn't been said already?
I never hated the Saji+Louise parts, I saw them as a part of the story being told from a civillian's point of view (reminds me of the greatness that was 0080).
The feeling I got when I saw Louise's arm was incredible..normally characters are ór killed or are somehow fine. Seeing her like that was just.. wow..
Setsuna's reaction to the situation was super. And he's not even wrong :D.
Indiscriminate killing of civillians is terrorism and that is asking for war, so it is CB's duty to intervene.
I think that the whole crew of Ptolemaios is unaware of the full intentions of CB. I think they are on a 'need to know' basis only.
Setsunas reaction and intervention was not impressive and very predictble.
