is this ep subbed?
yeah, it's subbed
So is it better or worst then Mai Hime?
Or too soon to judge?
It's a little weird. It doesn't feel like the same show as Mai-Hime. You recognize alot of characters but they have all changed.
Its a pretty good first episode I just hope they explain what happend to all the Himes the action is the same as the previous serious so it looks like is goin to be a good one
I really liked the parallel with the desert and the sandship and the ferry of the first one in the first 5 minutes. A nice homage to the original. But it was even better that they ignored her completely.
Awsome first episode. Shizuru is better than before in here. I want to know where this show is centered at. It seems that something happened betwwen here and the end of Hime. Nina said something about perserving Earth's tech. I want to know how that happened. I've seen alot of new and interesting characters as well as some old ones. I checked the opening and the boy (can't remember his name) with the blueish silver hair is back. I swear that I also saw Mai in the opening with the Kagutsuchi symbol.
This isnt a direct sequel. Its a parallel universe.Quote:

I took too long writing this, so I'll just elaborate off what Phoenix20578 said:
Mai-Otome is related to Mai-Hime, but not in any sort of contiguous story line. It is a completely different universe, convienently populated by many of the same looking people. Some have the same if not similar names, but they are different people dealing with different problems.
-Mashiro (the headmaster of Mai-Hime, always in a wheelchair) is the princess of the country (forgot its name) of where they are.
-Natsuki is the headmaster of the Galdelupe school where bodyguards (and whatever else MAiD's do) are trained.
-Mikoto is now a fat cat.
-Akane appears to be playing a much larger role in this series.
-Aoi (the brunette of Mai's two friends) is apparently a high ranking maid (the regular kind as far as I can tell) of Mashiro.
The rest of the series description I got from AniDB:
The MAiDs aren't quite your usual run-of-the-mill maids. They support royalty and politicians, and act as advisors to them as well. It's a profession all the girls want to do when they grow up. Girls who want to become MAiDs are gathered from each country and attend the MAiD training school, Galdelupe, for two years and undergo intensive training, after which they become MAiDs. The chosen among them who have the abilities might dream of becoming "My Star MAiDs".
Ah. Thanks for the info.
I wanna know if Mia will return as the all powerful one again. I saw her in the opening blasting all those slaves. It looked really cool.
i miss mai's big boob's.
I don't really like the main character. She's pretty annoying.
Well the main charcter yes is a factor, but that one snobby girl kicked some serious butt there lol.
Too soon to judge, but hey all I wanted was girls fighting (as that is what the 1st one essiantially was)... and it worked out fine for me!
It's a pretty cute annoying, but one episode leaves it hard to judge her yet.Quote:

I'm giving this sereis two more eps to see where it goes but it's too CUTE for my taste. Ok idea but they could have been a littel more original on the Bloody Character design.
I'd say the first episode was pretty good. It was awkward watching it with the same characters, but not exactly the same. Mai needs to come back and take a bath
this looks like a more light headed version of Mai-hime? the world is a fantasy setting instead of the real thing, there's lots of weirdly-cute outfits and no one seems to be serious about anything.
think i'll keep watching it though, if not only for the magical ninja girl action and perversion of language.
didn't seem terrible, altho i was pretty disappointed with the way the other series ended. i guess i'll give it a go. shows about awakening latent mysterious powers is always the cheap way for me to suckered into watching =P
What kind of series is this? and how was the first one? should I watch it first?
so many questions...
Watch it, because none of us can really make a jugdement yet, there's only been one episode.
Also, its a sci-fi/fantasy anime, if thats possible.
coo... i'm downloading it... but should I watch the first season before this or not? if its an alternate reality thing i guess not... but sometimes it helps...
You'll recognize the characters if you watch My HiME, thats about it.
Just watch the first series first... there's no reason to simply just jump on this series...Quote:

Static-Subs just released... they released 2 versions, so check tokyotosho for them... there's a normal quality one, and a high quality one...
Everyone stick with Static, they'll do the best work for Otome
here y'all go
static-subs epi2 HQ
static-subs epi2 LQ
doremi-fansubs epi 3
the first esp. was ok, the action was good, but the main character is annoying
Finally ep 3.
Static-subs released episode 4:
Mai-Otome_04(LQ)
Mai-Otome_04(HQ)
Episode 5 is out from D-O. Pretty good episode, but I was hoping for more action.
So far this series is rather boring compared to Mai Hime. Still good though.
i think this series is good but I didn't watch Mai hime
The tracker has been down for days. Waiting for it on IRC, which is a pain in the ass...
Im just waiting for Arika to activate her Saphire jewel thing or something.
Something's just awkward about this scene. You be the judge.
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/4654/awkward7xf.jpg
If you don't get it, Haruka looks HUMONGOUS. (not her chest)
or arika is just small
I just finished watching My Hime since I heard it was better to watch it before starting My Otome. My question to you all is after the first five eps are Natsuki, Shizuru, Midori and Nao still the best characters? I'd really hate if they were downplayed cause there is another main character.
Sorry, Aeon, there's another main character. And she's annoying too...
My Hime was ok, but I don't really know about this one... If a maid gets exposed to PSA she loses her powers? So they all have to stay virgins? WTF? And the princess is a little TOO bratty. Still, the combat scenes have been ok so far...
yea the princess is a bitch
Edit : wow i just looked at some screenshots of mai hime and i found excatly the same face characters...
I thoguht they just had the same storyline and character traits but not actually the face...
Mai Otome 7 from Doremi

Finally the story is moving, it was a pretty good ep.
Yeah its seems things are going to get alot more interesting in both the school and international struggle realms
so akira is now a mai-star that was fast
Yeah its seems things are going to get alot more interesting in both the school and international struggle realms
why are you repeating yourself?
Wow, that was a cool episode. But I still want Mai to apper and kick major ass. I [img]i/expressions/heart.gif[/img] Mai
im trying to finish mai hime before watching this...which group has the best translation?
Static-subs(IMO).Quote:

Alright...
im on episode 22 now (mai hime)..so i would like to know if the story proceed in mai otome or a brand new story+characters?
it starts all over again with same storyline and same characters but diff. names
u lied
how did i lie?
looks kinda different...i mean the storyline..
oh well...we will eventually find out thanks.
Arika put a sandwich in her uniform lol and then the machine broke woot
just finished watching episode 1. well...there are characters from mai hime with the same name O_O
That link doesnt work Lazykid or maybe its just me. Well...anyone with the same problem please post a new link.
Last episode was great. But why did she have to give her one of hers? It wasnt necessary (Or at least thats what I think) She could have just kept both of them. I bet the blond guy (cant remember his name) and many others already know arinkos real identity. This episode made it quite clear. Seems something big is going to happen in the next few episodes.
So I finally caught up with Otome and it doesn't hold a candle to Hime. On the plus side Nao still is one of the best characters.
I hearing all the time Hime this and Hime that....Is it worth while for me to spend hooouuurs and hours downloading to see mai Hime? Coz I thought someone said it had nothing to do with this story. The characters are similar but nothing else really. Is it better or worse than Mai Otome? Nice if someone could answer me....
You might have to wait until this series is over to get an accurate comparison =P But so far, I feel like the quality's the same-- which would be "okay". Do you like watching chicks fighting each other? Do you like fanservice? How picky are you about plot and animation? *shrug* Personally, I turn a temporary blind eye to fanservice, don't mind chicks fighting each other, and not all that picky about plot or animation. In other words, Mai Otome is an average series I watch to pass time with.Quote:

I think ill watch Mai Hime when Ive some time. Thanx anyway Honoko . I watch it to pass time too, while Im waiting for Shakugan no Shana and Bleach ( Naruto is crap just now, think everyone knows anyway) those I do recommend to every anime lover.
im starting to download Mai Hime because im curious to the similiarites of Mai Hime and Otome
The reason My HiME was so popular is the fact that it gave so much detail into the personalities of theQuote:

characters. Otome hasn't reached that point yet, considering it took about 14 episodes for HiME to do it.
Hmmmm....I think ill start downloading tomorrow. Can anyone post a link plz. That saves me time and Im sure there are other people wanting to download it just like me. It would be very nice if someone did post it.
You can get the batch file from one the links on this page.
so what does "mai" in mai otome means?
because in Mai hime...the main character name was mai...
Otome means Maiden, and Hime means Princess. As for the Mai part, who knows.
The kanji used is translated as 'Dancing' which in way, was supposed to describe their way of fighting.
In Mai-Hime, Nagi frequently referred to them dancing, and in a much later episode, the tradition that led to HiME/element/Child 'festival' started from maidens dancing around a tree for their beloveds. The Academy celebrated that same tradition with the ribbons tied on the circular railing in the main entrance. That is the place the tree once stood.
I'm actually amazed that I remembered all that, since it constitutes to about 3 minutes total of the entire series.
Thanx Aeon. That really saved me some time.Quote:
Nice explanation Ryllharu.
Cool, Mikoto (the real one, not the cat) and Miyu make their first appearances in ep 8, if you haven't noticed. This further increases the chance of Mai showing up.
Mikoto??? Don't you mean Midori?Quote:

Nope. Midori was the red haired, justice filled "17" year old teacher working on her doctorate in the original series. Now apparently a hateful, evil crazy Mai-Star of the Black Valley robosuit people
Mikoto appeared above the organ in eps 7.
Ah, right, completely forgot about Mikoto above the organs.
BUT Midori DOES appear (kinda) at the end of episode 8. She's the one who steps up to that lord guy after one of her comrades calls her name out.
I said that too:
"Now apparently a hateful, evil crazy Mai-Star of the Black Valley robosuit people"
You can tell its her from her voice. Its the same seiyuu, Yukari Tamura, one of my favorites.
Shit, I must be going crazy while I'm reading stuff now.... my bad, Ryllharu.
wait, so is Mai Hime possibly connected plot wise? or are they just reusing characters? I havent seen Mai Hime so if they are connected I want to see it.
Reusing characters the same way that Tsubasa Chronicles reuses old CLAMP characters. Same name (for the most part, a lot of the family names are changed), same face, but a different person. Its a different world, some have the same personality (Nao, Shizuru, Haruka, Chie) and other are varied levels of different from their old selves (Shiho, Mashiro, and probably Midori).
im getting all confused with the names
Mai wil be in the show. I'll be using the first episode as a reference, but check out 03:45. That's defintely Mai in the opening, I mean the hair and silloutte is a clue, but wth the three fireballs there is no question who that is. Looks like she might have an evil presence in the show though. I haven't seen eps 5 - 8 yet, watching them now. But I loved Mai-HiME and have decent expectations of this. I feel as if I've had more enjoyment of Mai HiME come episode 5, so we'll see how far this show gets.
thx
#9 is a fun episode, hiking yeay!
Shizura-chan seems to enjoy female company a bit more than the other girls
Ended up not so nicely. Guess she might do something unexpected. Next episode we will see some action.
Mai Otome ep 10 is out by Doremi!!
Doremi
mmm. torrent is not working for me
if you goto animesuki.com, the torrent works over there....
Who hoo! Midori is back! This is freakin sweet! She even had Gakentenou. Now if only I could see Mai and Kagutsuchi.
I think Mai will end up being an Otome, so she probably won't have Kagutsuchi, which is unfortunate.
But Midori is, as always, consistenly impressive. I really liked how they switched her from spear/axe/polearm to twin katanas.
I always like these series (Mai-Hime/Otome). They seem a bit slow paced at first, but then cram so much storyline and changes into the last like 16 eps that it seems like it was much longer or even two different series. They've got as of eps 10, the Organ, Tomoe constantly hazing Arika, Midori and the cyborgs (and all the pre-colony tech that will need to be explained), whatever Nagi's been planning, Arika finding more about her mother and Arika's contract with Mashiro (parallels the others, so not really separate), and potentially a large scale war (Somehow Nagi related perhaps?). I've no doubt at all that we'll see all of these fully develop, the series are paced so well.
Finally the pace is picking up
This series is really starting to pick up. Seeing Midori again was awsome. But what the hell are Slaves?
They just seem like the Child's from HiME.....
They ARE like the child's from HiME, but one clear difference, they arn't as cool or the ones we've seen so far. If the slave dies so does the person who summoned them.Quote:

I think it would be great if Mai was the only Otome to have a slave. She is the only one who can scream Kagutsuchi's name. Once I see that pair I'll be happy.
Ep 11 is out by Doremi
http://weedy.1.vg:8394/torrent...175b6307407969c4dd2353
okay episode... next one will be... interesting.
We finally see Mai's brother and that tomboy! I hope Mai shows up soon.
Does anyone kniw what arika's group age is?
In eps 11, didn't Major Wong wish Nina a happy 15th birthday? Unless I heard wrong or imagined it.
Nope, he said 15.
This episode was ok. I was hoping for a little more. I really want Mai to appear.
