Freaking heck Flora's dead already and she didn't even have the chance to react. Rigardo simply ignoring and swating off the Claymore attacks while he took out the captains was darn impressive. Sucks for Flora though, I had her and Miria(Clare doesn't count since she's the main character) as the only two that could take on Awakened Beings.
can The Slashers repeat a miracle and take down Rigardo? I sorta figured they were going to kill off Undine, especially after her development last episode (and i hate to see Deneve sad...), but Flora and Jeane all in such a short time was really shocking to me. Flora was especially weak, Rigardo absolutely wrecked her.
Boo hoo hoo, too much crying for my taste. Although I think this will bring Priscilla and Raki closer together, thus ensuring he lives for at least a while longer. She's totally regressed mentally... Ryl's post is quite revealing, as I didn't put nearly that much thought into her scenes... largely because I just wanted to get back to see how the Claymores were doing...
Rigardo is absolute awesomeness, even if I am pissed he killed Undine (and will probably kill some of The Slashers...). They all need to start ganging up on him, right F'ing now. He's just picking apart the leaders too easily... Clare was the only one to try and help. Miria should have taken charge faster. Like I said before, I really feel that only Clare is going to survive, which is too bad because I really like Deneve and the other Slashers... hell, I was starting to not mind Jeane so much...
I'm pretty sure only a Darth Vader no could express my feelings for what happened in this episode. To kill off three awesome Claymore like they were nothing(Veronika doesn't count).
On the bright side at least Rigardo's roar was cool......but still Flora!!!
It seems the first claymores to die were forgotten. They died as quickly as those you are sad for... Maybe a little more violently.
But I have to admitt I was quite shocked Flora didn't have the time to do anything when she's so fast with her sword, and quite a high rank. And she doesn't have the excuse she wasn't ready... In fact she died without even fighting...

I'm hoping that some of the claymore that already had been involved in the plot and were partial awakens will be able to heal after being ripped asunder.. but then again it isn't very likely.. MAd props to Rigardo and being a sexy beast and a sexy beast
Man that was just awesome...my comments earlier were partially wrong since I'd forgotten how fast Rigardo owned those poor leaders. This whole ep covered a single chapter in the manga with the addition of the whiny Priscilla section to fill the rest of the time.
The animation quality seemed to suffer quite a bit in the Priscilla scenes as her eating was just her head moving into the entrails with her mouth closing. Usually I don't notice poor animation but that just stares you right in the face. And on the subject of the Priscilla scene...it kinda felt like crap to me, Priscilla has been awakened for over 10 years and she still cries like that and acts like a human? If that's the case it makes it look like awakening is just a power boost + a desire to eat entrails. Which would make no sense since the I doubt the organization would be against feeding human entrails to an army of awakened ones if that's all it took to keep them acting like normal people. (Read the manga for a better explanation, specifically v09 c50)
Why did Veronica have to die? She was hot with that pony-tail. :D And we didn't even see much of her!!
But one thing I like about this anime is that everything isn't fairy-tale like where everyone survives and such.
I wonder how they will stop Rigardo...
She was hot? I really have an issue calling any of the claymores in claymore form hot.. They are all blond gold/silver eyed.. plain faced folk >> Once they awaken though :D ::fireworks.::
Damn, Rigardo is broken. However, since Clare can't die in this anime, he will perish or run away because Easly beckons him.
I predict that miria will face off against rigardo, and both will be killed. Theres no way for rigardo AND a claymore to survive (that includes clare). So he must die before they're all killed. And the very last scene in the preview shows miria facing off against what seem to be rigardo's claws. Not to mention that little speech about how strong miria had gotten, and how she must have gone through alot since thier last meet-up, that happened when all the claymores first arrived.
I think in the end, 3 slashers will remain, with the majority of the minor claymores surviving. Now that the the top brass has been killed, the organization is severely weakened, with the only 'strong' warriors being the top 4.

Claire and all the other claymores have already awaken, the only difference is that they were able to keep their own persona's and not give into guts eating. I don't know if pricilla can regain her psyche...she's bat crazy.
I'm actually happy they added some weight to Pricilla's character and made her a schizophrenic mess. One minute she's a Lady Killer, the next moment she's a fragile naked girl crying over spilt bowels.

I don't think it was stated in the anime,do not quote spoilers before awakening. Anyways, if you hadn't noticed already, he's Easley's righthand man or 2nd in command.
The third one has different features than Rigardo, check episode 16. She (since there's only been one male generation), hasn't been mentioned otherwise. Her name remains a mystery for the anime watchers.
Rigardo is ridiculously strong, but remember how effortlessly Riful stopped Galatea, Clare and Jeane, as well as how protected she is, you can't cut the body of something made out of ribbons. All Abyssal Ones should be of the same caliber she was.

The girls seemed to be doing well this episode. The leaders seem to have gotten their squads organized so that we saw some nice teamwork that allowed them to take down some opponents. It fell to pieces once Rigardo came on-scene though. Of course they have no chance against him one-on-one, and he took out those leaders pretty quickly. The only way they have any hope at all is with a team-based strategy that takes advantages of the strengths of the different team members. Even so.....things are not looking good for the claymores......
I haven't read the manga but I will once this season is over.
Anyways, my guess is that Miria will die in this battle against Rigardo trying to save one of her comrades.
While rewatching some of the eps on my Ipod I noticed that Easley sent the full army of 27 against the Claymore forces of 24. If the Claymores were outnumbered then how the heck were they able to force 5 vs 1 on their fights?
That's the point, and according to Miria when talking to the other Slashers, it's always been the point. Miria believes they were all sent up there to die. Whether it's to slow Easley down, or get rid of the "problem" children, the Organization sent them up there with no intention of survival.

I doubt the ABs are capable of team work. They are basically yoma, even though they were born from humans. Half of their thoughts should be occupied by the strive to eat guts. Plus they are overly arrogant all the time. That's why it's likely they just marched into the town and each began seeking opponents on his own. As it is, I think Easley has stretched the cooperative abilities of ABs to their maximum simply by collecting an army of them.
Like (I think) somebody said earlier, if it was possible to control the ABs even more than this, the organization wouldn't be using Claymores but ABs as well.
I think Easley might call the whole thing off. He'll realize that Raki wants to see Clare so much and perhaps might use Raki for something. Who knows what though...
That might be the case or it might not be. After all, Easley himself ordered the attack already knowing Raki was looking for a Claymore. If Easley truly does have some plans for Raki and it's not simply that he keeps him around to keep Priscilla happy, then those plans might in fact benefit from the shock Raki would suffer should he find Claire dead. Or of course it could be like you said and he intend to have them fight each other, or something. It's hard to say. Easley doesn't seem to be a man of too many words.

Rigardo=Ingrit guardian from FF VIII. So Rigardo got his nickname from when he was a claymore I presume? Didn't look much like a lion to me, from the looks of his normal form. And Easley's the only one who likes to appear as a claymore, out of all ABs so far, unless he was blonde and blue eyed as a human...

Blue eyes implies he's not appearing as a Claymore. Claymores have silver eyes, which is why the girls are called "Silver Eyed Witches" by commoners. They're also not supposed to be blond per se, more of a really washed out blond/white.
I'm still waiting for Riful to come and save the day. She'll snatch up Clare and Jean and run away! Maybe she'll even grab a few more if she notices their semi-awakened status.

Sorry to interrupt but Im new to claymore. Ive watched up to episode 15 and think its great so far. I've downloaded all the episodes but 18. I tried the link in got woot wich is thru eclipse but it no longer works. Anyone know anotherway to download ep 18? I really dont wanna have to skip 1 episode.
Go to Eclipse's home site, and head to the Archive/Claymore. There are all the eps listed. I checked both xvid and h264 ep 18 torrent links over there, and they work.

Rigardo looses control when he gets pissed. I'm guessing that's how he'll die. that's gonna be interesting to see as he's about the calmest person in the show (barring the organization guys)

Clare didn't look too good nearing the end. Technically speaking her limit should be higher since she's 75% human, but on the other hand, she won't get as much power out of it, so she must reach higher. I guess it's indeed up to Raki then to bring her back.
damn, this episode was in slow motion or something... I get a little frustrated with all of the Raki and Priscilla bits, even though Easley helps by being so damn unnervingly calm... I thought they could have made some of those scenes shorter
I hope Deneve is alright... she's one of my favorites. I was almost glad that to see her get wounded and then still talking, because it at least leaves the possibility of her surviving all of this.
Rigardo is beastly. His reaction to losing that arm was priceless.
Clare is awakening... When I heard that deeper 'Motoh' I was full of OMFGWGH? excitement. Although it looks pretty clear that she'll fuck Rigardo up pretty good, and then have a tearful Raki begging her to 'come back' and she will...
Honestly, I'm starting to really get sick of Raki. I didn't mind him at first, but it's been too much of the same from him for awhile now... I want to see more of the damn Claymores!
I had the same reaction in the end. but... even though Clare awakened, Rigardo should be much stronger than regular awakened beings (Miria could kill them easily enough). he was surprised i guess

Let's hope for some nice priscilla vs rigardo battle or something. At least i hope there will be some big clash before the season ends.
I like Inazuma's theory. Raki tries to stop Clare from awakening and so she stops. The drawback is that because she stops, she loses her current power boost and then Rigardo begins owning them. Raki will probably try to stand infront, but before he gets struck Priscilla will kill Rigardo.
After that... It's only a matter of time before the drama between Clare, Raki, and Priscilla sets in!

What if they go a different route though.... Like say Clare forgives Priscilla?
Wow with Priscilla that close to Clare as well as Raki being around they could probably swing a total wrap up of the story and just have her and Clare fight to the death or something once they deal with Rigardo. It would suck of course, but it would be a way to end the series neatly.
I wouldn't say it wraps it up neatly, since with only 4 episodes left and Rigardo still alive, there won't be enough time to deal with Easley. Maybe the final fight will be between Clare and Priscilla, and then Easley just kinda wanders off like Riful? I think there will be quite a few loose ends.
Also, with Priscilla in her somewhat mentally-incapacitated state, I don't think she'd be willing to turn into something that Clare would feel happy about fighting. Her awakened/transformed state seemed to be punctuated by a certain degree of cold, brutal clarity that just doesn't fit within the framework of her childlike current self.
I predict Clare somehow doesn't awaken completely (maybe remembers the promise or whatever), and she and some other survivors GTFO after beating Rigardo (he's already missing an arm, and while he's cool he's definitely not epic enough to turn around and take our heroine down). I also predict they cover their tracks before the rest of the Awakened army returns, Raki gets there too late to meet up with Clare, Priscilla and Easley catch back up to Raki, and the awakened army settles down and disperses with Rigardo dead and Easley and Priscilla (two insanely-powerful beings) on their way in, thinking "oh, they'll clean up".
Alternative prediction: Raki gets there, Clare doesn't awaken due to him showing up, Priscilla and Easley don't get there before everyone still alive limps off into the sunset. Priscilla vs Clare shouldn't get resolved in the series, as any such resolution would be pretty hollow feeling, given how little we understand Priscilla's current state. She was an interesting character, but she hasn't really had a coherent word to say since "I'm hungry, gtg" back in ep 8.
Prediction 3: Clare fully awakens. Completely transforms. Raki shows up, and understands. Easley and Priscilla show up. Clare understands Priscilla's plight, forgives her, and they all join up, leaving plenty of room for doujin threesomes involving Priscilla, Clare and Raki. Easley makes peace with Riful, due to Clare's presence. Everyone's happy.
Prediction 4: Clare eats Raki's guts. The end.

The only thing that really bothered me in this episode was that the two people Raki, Easley, and Priscilla met while nearly Pieta knew that Claymores had ranks, and moreover, that the lowest was present. Earlier in the series, it's made abundantly clear that the common people know nothing about Claymores, other than what they do, and what they charge, and they are headquartered in the ruined wastes of the east (where obviously no one else lives).
Ranks, that Claymores don't call themselves Claymores (name instituted by the common people), "voracious eaters" versus Awakened Beings (something Clare didn't seem to really know having never hunted them previous), black cards, etc. These are all things we learned directly from higher ranking Claymores, or their handlers.
Well the Claymores did a lot of talking in the middle of the city when there were still humans in town, so it's not far fetched that they might have heard a little bit. This was a unique occassion. It's not every day that you see 20+ Claymores talking in the middle of town about all sort of things.
Oh well, that's what happens when the anime starts making shit content up.

Well...my theory is that because Clare has Teressa's flesh crafted into her, she is now using Teressa's Yoki because she passed her own limit but has yet to pass Teressa's limit. So it could be that Clare's side has awakened but Teressa's hasn't?
Limits seem to be based off mental strength alone. Very similar to the situation with Jeane, who had far exceeded her body's own. If you can keep it in check, you can go up and up. Clare is far weaker than normal Claymores in terms of Yoki because she has Teresa's flesh instead of a yoma.Quote:

I think being 1/4 Yoma is not that different from being 1/2 Yoma.
It seems that with mental strenght they can focus on their Yoma side, being 1/4 means less massive raw power, but limited refined power when reaching/nearing one's limit
Yoma have the uncontrollable urges, instincts, to eat guts and do other inhumane things. Of course it could be argued humans as well have all manner of needs, but for simplicity's sake it could be assumed that humans aren't slaves to such urges. Keeping this in mind 50% yoma is, technically speaking, twice as much prone to not be able to control herself than 25% yoma. Basically the awakening is nothing more than giving in to the beast inside them. Of course individual differences might play even a bigger role. But statistically the average should obey such laws.
Although it bothers me greatly that the big shot awakened ones seem to be totally in control of themselves. In fact many ordinary Claymores are less controlled than them. But perhaps that's just the very top.
uhmmmm what happened to EVERY other claymore?? last time we know there are 5 AB dead and 5 claymores dead and then woosh, only main caps helen, deneve and clare are alive? even though you can see the other claymores when the ABs left?

@Uchess: They're mostly standing around looking shocked I believe, all the strongest ones were just effortlessly slain right in front of them, so they're mostly scared shitless. Also it's easier to cheaply animate 3 people fighting than 20.
I'm starting to think that awakening is more the death of the human soul/conscience then of all self-control. I don't think Awakend Beings feel pity or remorse since they've been taken over by the Yoma. However they are still intelligent beings capable of making decisions about their behavior and considering the consequences of actions.
Priscilla seems to mess up this theory since she seemed sad while munching on that guy, however for all we know it could be that she was crying b/c the guts were cold.
I think she cried because she remembered the scene when yoma killed and ate her family instead of being sad about eating a human. But we can't say for sure why she cried, so everything is possible.
Yeah, I don't see awakened beings as emotionless either. Ophelia demonstrated that ... she was pretty brutal, but she was pretty emotionally devastated when she realized what she had become. Even Riful has a degree of fondness and compassion for Dauf beyond the master/servant relationship, it seems ...
The real kick in the teeth would be if Clare awakens, beasts Rigardo and then turns on Raki, and Priscilla has to defend him, forcing Clare to forgive Priscilla once she returns to her normal frame of mind.
@David - How the hell can you go above 50 percent? Its not the amount of flesh you eat that gives that statistic, but the fact that you are half-youma (whole human+whole youma = half youma). Teresa is already half-youma, plus Clare's full human body, that makes her 1/4 youma. Its technically and logically impossible for a Claymore to be more than half-youma. That idea made me laugh though.
@Yuki - I still think its about self-control. The Priscilla crying scene and Ophelia disprove the loss of remorse idea. The reason why some ABs seem to have lost their conscience is because they gave in to their desire and simply dont care anymore, and even grow to enjoy it (even humans do this quite a bit).

You used Priscilla as an example, and she was obviously human before she became a claymore (her being a claymore {half-youma} is proof enough here). Her weird behavior is similar to Ophelia's behavior when she awakened. With such a good reason out there, I dont get the point of making up such absurd explanations.
But since you changed the premise, I guess it is possible, but highly unlikely since (it is stupid and) it will result in something that cannot be controlled. Come on, half-youmas already have a high chance of going berserk since they are on the borderline of 50-50. Making a 3/4 youma like you suggested means helping the enemy. This is also the answer to your pointless question of WHY they put it at 50 percent.
Though in your crazy world of claymore, it might be possible. Heck, they even say that everything is possible (and some idiots actually believe it). That means you werent wrong with your analysis, but you werent right either.

Has it ever been explicitly stated that half, as in 50%, of a Claymore's body is replaced with Yoma parts? From what I remember we haven't been told much about the process so it could be that they just mean not fully human not fully yoma but something in between, when they say half-human half youma.
Assuming their bodies adapt completely to the replacements and fundamentally change then their flesh would become something with power. If you then took the flesh of an adapted person and put it into a regular human then the human would have to adapt to that altered flesh, conceivably it wouldn't be as bad as adapting to something completely foreign but of course the potency of the yoma influence would likely be reduced leading to an adapted person with diluted yoma influence.
It was never stated, and is highly unlikely. 50 percent just means half-human and half-youma, nothing more.
I would really like to see them create a Claymore. I feel that would clear up some misconceptions -- if there are any.

Ricardo was quite a mofo till the very end. He was only happy to get sliced to pieces by someone who got strong so fast.
I was suprised we've seen Rigardo finished in this ep, compared to the rather stretched eps we've seen so far.
An ep with a lot more action, the swnow storm is a bit anoying in reading the scenes, but it gives a strong "plausible" feeling, when you can't always have optimal conditions to fight.
The only thing is that Rigardo is holding so much, I know it's important for suspens, but very cliché.
I was also sad rigardo lost an arm, the fight could have been fun with him at a better potential. But again, beeing to careless is the price in real life fights.
Wow, that was one impressive episode.

I never would have thought they'd have finished off Rigardo there. Killing claymores or not that was simply one of the best "bad guys" I've ever seen. Awesome character, very cliché, but awesome all the same.

This brings back into question the true effects of semi-Awakening. It's clearly something entirely separate from Awakening. Clare's potential has skyrocketed since then. No need to worry about going over any "limit," since it's already been passed. Perhaps Yoki increases like muscle/bone mass, the harder you abuse it, the bigger it gets.
Riful did say she'd leave them be, preferring to keep them semi-Awakened for now. They'll ripen just like fruit.
I also notice Priscilla recognized the "scent" of Clare's Yoki.

Yup, looks like Priscilla recognizes Teresa's Yoki. I'm assuming it was Teresa's Yoki that Clare used.
Don't tell me Raki is going to scream "CLAAARREEEE!" and then she turns back to normal again.
I'm not quite clear on things though, is Clare able to go beyond her limit so far because she's like 1/4 yoma or something? I find it hard to believe the high ranked Claymores can't do that.
Clare is beyond her limit because she no longer has one. Miria explained way back that they had already passed their limit, so they wouldn't have to worry about going over again. Miria, Jeane, Helen and Deneve could all do it as well, if they weren't as stupid or desperate as Clare is.
Clare cannot use "Teresa's Yoki." It is Clare's own. Priscilla recognized it because Clare has Teresa instead of yoma inside, and that obviously gives it a different feel. Miria and Galatea both noticed it as well. Miria when she fought Clare in the rain, and Galatea is as sensitive to yoki as Clare and Teresa, if not more so.
EDIT: This isn't like Bleach where Clare can pull out a bunch of bullshit Hollow Energy in the form of Teresa lurking inside her. Clare's yoki is growing only from training, overuse and how far she's tapping herself out to mutate her body. It's all her own yoki, from no other source.
Beyond her limit? She hasn't gone beyond her limit as long as her mind still remains that of a human (or Claymore to be specific) and is not turned into a yoma's mind. It's not like you could refer to a textbook to get a specific value for such a limit. And obviously that limit increases when the person's will grows stronger. Clare was about to awaken in the church in the first eps and she certainly wasn't back then anything compared to her present state, so you could say her limit has multiplied already.Quote:

Raki definitely just seemed incredibly out of place. No one really seemed to care he was there, and Helen having to deal with him only made the battle less believable.
I prefer the rendition of this battle in the manga, but sadly, quibbling about it now won't change anything. With the exception of Raki utterly breaking the tension, it was pretty good. The anime and manga are completely separate now, and it's not entirely a bad thing. Keeps me surprised anyway, wondering how they intend to end this.
That semi-awakening is probably my worst fear for this series. Ive always liked it since it was consistent with the premise that Clare is freaking weak as a claymore, and she has won so far with such a handicap, overcoming it with luck, techiniques, and going over her limit to surprise her enemies (take note, though it did gain Clare an advantage, this battle didnt end with Rigardo being surprised, just simply beaten by speed). The leg awakening is stupid, since even if she does awaken them, she is not supposed to be able to overcome Rigardo's speed, since he is probably a stronger claymore before he awakened.
But, since I like this show, I just rationalized it to Clare's awakened form being built for speed. Her legs look like cheetah's legs, and those are the fastest land animals on earth, so this assumption makes sense. If her other parameters are heavily lacking compared to her speed in their awakened form, I think its forgivable that the 47th claymore (based on youki) beat some legend (who is strong in all aspects, except regenration) in terms of speed.
I guess we need an explanation on why the semi-awakened state is much stronger than the fully awakened one....
Would it be because Clare so good at controlling yoki, that she's able to have a 100% efficiency in directing it in her legs and arms?
When Rigardo, a lot more powerful, tends to disperse great amounts of powers in the air? (super angry screams with very flashy red energy field around) and other losses.
There's also the Teresa hypothesis.
Do you think Clare awakens only what's left of Teresa in her? Since Teresa has been stated the strongest #1 ever, that would be more plausible for Clare to be so strong in semi-awakened state.
I figured that Clare's training with Irene developed the skill she needed to fully Awaken limbs as she has done here, and her watching Jeane's fully Awakened body but stable mind allows her to actually do it and control it without the rest of her body awakening. Clare is still using only the skills she's obtained through training.
As I said before in one of my last posts, I think Riful had the right idea. Semi-Awakened are like ripening fruit. The no longer have to worry about going over any limit (they've already gone past it), so by pushing themselves to the limits of the yoki output, they can push more out of it. Like strength training. The longer Riful waits, the stronger her little pupils will become.
Clare isn't all that great at controlling yoki. The reason they allowed Clare to have Teresa's parts seemed to be to retain her particularly unique ability to sense Yoki. But now they also have Galatea, who not only has the Teresa/Clare precision of sensing, but is also very skilled at controlling her own yoki. Clare noticed that and used it to save Jeane, but admitted she didn't think she'd be able to do it again.
If that was true then Clare (and other semi-awakened ones) would have awakened her whole body at once. It's better to have lots of power and little skill than little power and little skill.Quote:

The mental strain to retain Awakened parts must be immense. Jeane barely did it at all, and Irene and Clare have been doing it for some time with the Flash Sword. Even if they can, I really don't think they'd take the risk.
This episode was so fucking dumb, how could all those Claymores (even the still semi-healthy ones like Miria) not be helping Clare defeat Rigardo. It's so fucking dumb and uncharacteristic from the rest of the series.
