I'm guessing it's also to prevent the baby from touching anything unnecessary, since, like Ryllharu said, babies do have delicate skin. Anyways, looking sharp, Psyke!

And it was an eye opener for me seeing that...what would you call it, a neck floatie?

As for the swimming aid it's pretty populuar here. I would say almost ALL babies I know off go through this swimming initiation ritual. Haha. :p

Doting parents and a happy kid...

My first time seeing such a floating device. Somehow just imagining having something like that around your neck feels nasty. You can't raise your hands above the neck level or reach your own head anymore. If a mosquito landed on your nose, you could just watch it suck your precious blood, unable to drive it off.

Unable to scratch your nose is indeed a bother, but isn't the main problem...being suspended by your jaw?
