That was highly entertaining.
Iggy's nose didn't detect it either though. That was a big one.
And even a Stand's energy was supposed to be detectable. I think it's safe to say this Void Stand is a pretty big deal when first encountered.
Anyone else find it amusing when villains begin to refer to the flurry of Platinum star punches by actually calling it "ora ora thing"? I think the sword stand did that too.
Well, if one assumes the old Calling Your Attacks trope to be in effect, since that's the only thing he says when he does it, they don't really know what else to call it.

If neither of the heroes is coming back to life by bullshit ass-pulls, these last couple episodes will have´been really great. Reminds me of the first two seaons of the anime, when it was starring Jonathan and Joseph. Finally, we´re getting real fights where heroes aren´t save just cause they´re heroes.
Damn, Polnareff :(
I'm confused.
I assumed Dio brought Ice back after cutting his own head off by making him a vampire. But he's apparently not, because sunlight doesn't seem to bother him.
So can Dio's blood just bring people back from the dead?
I also don't believe for a second that Avdol and Polnareff are dead. Ice says his dimension of darkness is like being disintegrated. But I'm sure it's just a portal. Otherwise, Ice himself wouldn't be able to sit in it's mouth.
I expect when Ice is defeated they'll just fall out of his pocket dimension.
I somewhat expect that as well, but in this series, you just don't know. Just because we've grown to like these characters more (more screentime) doesn't mean that they are invincible. In Joseph's story Ceasar got crushed as well and he was on the same 'hero' level as the people here.
That said, I do think the pieces he took from them still won't be connected to them anymore. So Polnareff won't be able to walk, Avdol's arms will still be cut off.
So while I don't think they're dead, I think Ice has taken 3 of the heroes out of the rest of this arc.
This entire episode I was expecting flames from Avdol to come bursting out of the hole and kill our Cool Ice.
No one needs real body parts. Whatever you had, Speedwagon Foundation will do better.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Well...that ran counter to my prediction.
Kinda doesn't make sense that it took so long for Ice to become a vampire. If he was undead enough to come back from cutting off his head, he should have been undead enough for the rest of it right from the start.
It's too bad Polnareff won't be able to enjoy having been saved for very long...

tbh that´s a really lame power. It´s so imba that the only reason for anybody not instantly being dead in front of Dio is his own volition to play with his opponents rather than finish them off as soon as possible.
Thinking for similar, but way better powers, I´m reminded of Hidan and Pain from Naruto, both featuring extremely deadly powers, but being limited in a way that allowed an opponent to defeat them with his own ability.
And fuck, spend 40 episodes of crappy, comedic fights where nobody dies, only to finish ém all off at once. :/
Hey, remember when Kakayoin could paint your picture, and then swipe the painting with a brush and it would cut you?
Seems like that would have been a good power to use at any other point in the series.
Any way, Time Stop is exactly the kind of power one would expect a Big Bad to have. I'm interested to see what happens when you give Guldo from DBZ's power to someone who doesn't completely suck in combat.
I'm pissed Joseph is dead. I was really hoping this arc would end with a Sunlight Yellow Overdrive to the face.
Oh, that existed too. It would have been even more imbalanced from a plot point of view than Time-Stop.Quote:

What IS imbalanced is that The World seems to be everything that Star Platinum is with Time-Stop.
My guess was that Star Platinum will be so fast that it can move despite time being stopped ... or being slowed down in that case. But since The World is equally as fast, that won´t be happening.
The outcome of the fight now hinges on how much playing around Dio decides to do.
. . . What?Quote:

Lol, that's so true. When you think about it, Dio is actually really goofy.
Watch the OP, it changes slightly
HS - Episode 47
----------------------------------
That was tight. I really thought Dio would have died right at the end, but this persistence really is Dio for you. Too bad he becomes less manly after absorbing Joseph's blood. How does that even work?
I loved the changes to the OP. :p
I suppose that's one way to deal with having a villain with a broken power. Just give the hero the same power.
Not sure I understand why though. It made sense when Dio had the same power as Joseph and Holly, that vine theme, because it was like Dio had two stands. His own, and then Jonathan's. And you could think that Vine power just ran in the family.
But if Dio's own power is stopping time, not sure why Jotaro would have the same ability. Unless Jotaro's dad is secretly a Brando or something.
That's the Bishonen Line, baby!
Episode 48
Well, it's over.. It didn't give any hints to a next season.. has anyone got some news about this? I understand there is more in this series.
Even though Joseph's comeback was a bit of a stretch, it was a nice way to end this arc.
Jotaro's last attack, was that Hamon, or just a very hard kick?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CamPXxfl7Lw
That was a pretty epic battle. Almost made up for the entire rest of this arc, which, I really don't understand the hype for.
Putting Dio's blood into Joseph seemed like a really bad idea. And I wonder if it's going to have repercussions later. At a MINIMUM it should have made Joseph a vampire.
I might have chalked it up to Jojo suddenly learning Hamon, but Hamon doesn't work on Stands.
But without using a Sunlight Overdrive, there's no real logical reason why that attack should have put down Dio. And there's no reason Dio shouldn't have just stopped time again while his legs healed.
Yep, since that's exactly what happened to the Void fellow (Vanilla Ice?) - but I suppose he didn't turn (for who knows why) until the first time he died. Perhaps Joseph Joestar will become our next villain?Quote:

Anichart hasn't listed more Jojo for the coming season, and I've heard of no news for more.
They were probably waiting to get all the ratings for this season before deciding to spend money animating the less popular seasons.
Even if it wasn't, I don't know why A. A punch from Star Platinum would cause his whole body to blow apart and B. Why Dio couldn't just regenerate from it. Vampires seem to regenerate everything else.
How I thought this fight was going to go in the beginning, was that Jojo would have to defeat Dio, and then Joseph would finish him with a Sunlight Overdrive to the head.
I'm going to go with Jotaro doing a magical ripple punch at the end to cause Dio to explode.
When Joseph and Dio were fighting earlier, Joseph was using ripple-infused stand to protect himself, which Dio very carefully avoided punching with his own stand.
I'm also going to chalk Joseph not being a vampire up to ripple as well.
In the end, it doesn't really matter, because this is a bizarre adventure and anything goes.
I'm surprised people are still watching this despite the many inconsistencies described in the posts.
If anyone can get away with "rule of cool", it is JoJo.
I'm of the opinion that no one should get away with breaking rules they set themselves.
tbh i found this final battle rather lackluster. It was an okay fight, a fun to watch fight. But after all this time of hyping up Dio as some sort of uber being, it was just too ... regular. Towards the end of the fight, it even felt as if Jotaro was the villain - super quickly adapting to The World´s powers, and even making Dio engage in careful approaches instead of simply punching Jotarl dead during stopped time. And he lost his cool too quickly, too.
Dont know.
So... for everyone that doesn't know Japanese and could only understand the "4" and "To Be Continued":

Well, I'm certainly going to keep watching, because I'm already invested. But if Stardust Crusaders was the arc everyone said was the best one, I'm not going to get my hopes up too high.
On the other hand, if people think that was the best one, it is possible that the next arcs are more similar to the first two and thus not as "great."
Eh, I doubt it. I feel like the show isn't as good since they introduced "Stands" and I know characters use Stands for the rest of the series.

Did the art get even cheaper? It´s one thing to go for a certain style, but the simple coloring and lack of animation is really cheapening the overall impression. I cannot remember the beginning of this series to be that bad.
The episode´s contents were fine, though. I love the casual depiction of a villain who murders and rapes and has fun all the while. You don´t usually get to see it that clearly, only subtly hinting at such stuff. But here we got at least two scenes where he´s raping, and one post-rape victim in the present story. That´s fresh.
Obviously, we need to find out the limitations of Josuke´s ability. Surely, there has to be some sort of time limit, otherwise he could bring back the dead. I guess it´ll be something like 5 minutes at most, where he can return injuries to intact properties.
Two major points of criticism:
1.) WTF is going on with Jotaro´s hat?! It looks like it´s half-fused into his hair. PLEASE let there be a logical explanation for that. Please. God, it looks so dumb.
2.) It might be nice and advantageous strategically speaking, but no matter if you return that lady´s stomach back to normal, SHE WILL HAVE FELT THE PAIN! Fucking lol. Skewering her body with full force, that gotta hurt enough to drive you insane. Josuke migh THINK he´s a hero, but he´s actually an asshole, using his power like that. Same with the turtle, he should have saved it before it got painfully hurt. This reminds me of Ajin (I´m at episode 8), where it also is treated way to lightly how, despite being immortal, these characters still feel the pain. It doesn´t matter if you´re healed afterwards, having all your teeth smashed by a brute drill is going to hurt you beyond your believes. And I wonder if Ajin feels less pain. Though nothing points in that direction as of now. As for Josuke, it´s not even him who feels the pain - thus making this an asshole-power.
That's the art. It's been around since his first appearance.Quote:

Heh, Bad Company is a pretty cool stand.
Anyway, you guys don't seem to be talking about this season very much so far. It's definitely an odd departure from previous seasons. But, it seems like it might try and explain some things that Season 3 never bothered to, like where the fuck Stands come from.
Okay, Origins of the Ripple / Stand.
Just watched the new episode. I´m already enjoying this much more than last season. We´re back to a continuous story, not the "one bad guy per episode" lameness. Feels like the first two seasons <3
But I have to mention it: Bad Company was already shooting when Josuke did his counterattack. Even accepting that his repaired missiles are faster than the bullets of Bad Company, what happened to the bullets already in mid-air? I´d like to say "well, they vanished when their user got k.o.-ed, BUT then the broken missiles also would have disappeared after being used, but they´re clearly somewhat independent from the user.
It´s not all-ruining, but it was silly, like when Sasuke escaped Deidara´s on-going explosion.
I never really needed an "origin" for Ripple because it just seemed like your basic Chi counterpart to me. When an anime tells me that it's setting has Ki/Chakra/Nen/Reiatsu/Haki, I simply accept it as a given.
Stands however are far more complicated, and rather than something that's simply always seemed to exist, is something that very much appeared suddenly within the world between story arcs.
btw can someone answer me this spoiler via private message: Are stand here to stay, or will the be replaced by something new, too, at some point, just like stands replaced ripples?

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do I get the feeling that the rest of this arc is going to be a bunch of high school students fighting each other...
11
----------------------------------------------------
I'm betting Joseph is only pretending to be feeble to lure Chili Pepper into a trap.
16
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why are the animal stand users the most interesting ones?
It's odd that Jotaro kept assuming the rat would behave like a normal rat when it's obvious that Iggy and Petshop(and that baby) had heightened intelligence.
So, is it as obvious to everyone else that the "guy" that rescued Josuke and his mom in the past was some kind of time traveling version of himself?
Yeah, this was the best 'stand off' we've seen in a while, as far as the fight itself being entertaining.
22
Brutal.
I just watched the last 10 episodes or so. Very nice.
Joseph is still rocking it. The writer must have realized that giving the most awesome Jojo dementia is a waste.
23
--------------------------------------------------
I'm confused as to why Koichi suddenly needed his Stand to explain it's powers to him. That wasn't the case the first two times.
nah, he didnt know his abilities earlier, too. He figured it out by trying.
anyway, last 2 episodes have been really good. finally no more monster-of-the week. i wonder if this guy is connected to a greater evil or if he´s just a really strong stand user.
Also, Jotaro was dumb as hell in this fight.
When the guy was baiting them when he was pulling the jacket, he could have just stopped time, grabbed the tag, and run out with Koichi.
Instead, he didn't use time stop until AFTER the badguy set all his powers in motion.
Wouldn´t be Jojo if the heroes didn´t NOT do something all the time ;>
Johari was just being super cautious. He and Joseph are the smartest Jojos thus far. I'd rather follow his lead than Koichi's. Using time freeze too many times let's others learn about it.
It's funny how he calls The World out despite that being Dio's stand name. Technically he should still be yelling "Star Platinum".
My understanding is that, once he learned to stop time, his changed his Stand name to "Star Platinum: The World"
Episode 24
---------------------------
Stop killing hot chicks. That ain't how you write anime :(
Aya really shouldn't have changed his face. Even Koichi would have been smart enough to know that someone doing a face-change wouldn't leave you behind as evidence. It's a dead end either way.
Why did she change his face, anyway? He obviously forced her, but how? She knew he was a gruesome murderer on the run. Better dying instead of helping him, then dying.
I gotta say, I feel like the renaming things is getting ridiculous.
It's one thing when he was naming characters after actual people and bands.
But when he's naming attacks and powers after simple song titles, it seems like changing them shouldn't be necessary.
25
------------------
Lol, I thought that shadow in the opening was of an old man holding a shovel. But it just turns out it was Kira's tiny dad holding an arrow.
Jotaros's so nice in his own way. That was totally Okuyasu's dumbass fault.
Koichi too. "Can he really not breathe?"
He's a ghost, genius.
It wouldn't be Jojo without mind-boggling stupidity on behalf of the heroes to facilitate the antagonists.
The stupidity of the heroes IS gratingly frustrating, though. Fucking lol. All the excuses Jotaru made about why stopping time wouldn´t help. DAmmit, STOP TIME and grab the photo before it´s up in the sky! Problem solved!
Other than that, Jojo has finally gotten good again. After all those shitty monster-of-the-week episodes, we´re in the middle of an overarching story. Love it.
26
------------
Aaaaaand now we're right back to monster-of-the-weeking it...
That kid's Stand is crazy strong. A Stand that can steal other Stands? Too bad he's defeated before he can even take one.
I was more impressed with Rohan's. His is the OP one. The other guy can only get lucky.
And I wasnt impressed by this episode. Why couldn´t Rohan read about the boy´s past happeningsß Being shot by an error, having the ability to rob other´s stands, etc.. It should have been there ...
Maybe he realized it (how it works) during the fight (and thats when it would have appeared in his 'face book')?
I think it's a bit of a stretch to suddenly realise that you can absorb other people's stands, with the conditions being that you only absorb a 3rd at a time, and can only challenge someone five times.
Koichi having his stand explain its own powers makes no sense otherwise.
Potentially, yes.
Like gambling.
27
---------
Oh Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, you're so bizarre.
I´m ... not sure about this. :|
Aliens? Feels like opening a can of worms, similarily to HXH´s Dark Continent.
It's really NOT any stranger than anything else in the series. It just seems like a weird thing to just drop on us as, like, a one-off in the middle of a story arc.
Seems like the kind of thing that should be it's own arc, with the aliens as the villains.
Hey shutup! That's awesome.
At least, in concept. I'm not reading it, so I don't know how it's been going.
Episode 28
--------------------------------
/turns on CCTV
"Mum hasn't gotten naked in front of Dad lately"
... this kid...
That kid was the biggest bullshit of it all, and that´s quite the accomplishment, considering what happened in this episode. It kinda sucks that Kira will be revealed to Jojo-tachi, because his pseudo-daughter turns out to be a super creep.
pseudo-son*?
Wat
additional letters so I can post my above "Wat"
I simply recognized the child at the end as a girl. Never crossed my mind that it´d be a son.
Episode 34
---------------------------------
No little boy. "I'm the only one who knows where the tapes are hidden" isn't a deterrent for killing you. Quite the contrary in fact.
35
--------------------------------------------------------
Okay. So you get stabbed by the arrow a 2nd time, your Stand gains a new power.
That seems....ripe for future plot exploitation.
Brutal power too. Though it shouldn't help him much in a stand up fight. But it's great for covering his tracks.
Such a weird power. It's not even his 2nd power, but his 3rd. They're also oddly specific.
It doesn't feel like an ass-pull just yet, but it's close.
So the time travel is the boy´s power or Kira´s power?
