I already look ackward in a suit and a pair of black pants with it. Fortunately, that was only the first day of work, so I'm allowed to wear anything after that, albeit without the emotional makeup.

3h guitar jam with friend, that made me smile!
My niece started walking today
She's been taking mini-steps, but this time she was all business.
Finally after great epic battle of wits with damned DHL(arrogant bastards - treating customers like trash - i don't know why they survived on the market) Ibanez bass guitar arrived. after changing strings, tuning truss rod and fine tuning it works perfectly!
Back to playing bass and guitar.
The mail order that I placed recently arrived today. I was bewildered when two packages came on the same order. At first, I thought it was a mistake, but I signed for both when he showed me the label and it clearly said my name on it. After tearing through the boxes, I was surprised to see that it was a gift sent by my relatives overseas. It was a brightly colored sweater with unique zigzag designs and a letter, describing their well-being.
Someone wrote "ha love it" with an arrow pointing to a crude drawing of Spongebob I doodled in one of the carrels in the library. I couldn't help but smile at the written approval.
My neighbour was calling I.T. technicians ' "it" people ' . I did my best to hide my smirk.smile. I even threw in I.T. in my sentences afterwards, but she insists on calling them "it". :)

Got this today! :D
Way too sexy, ill have to wait a while longer till i get mine ;P
Damnit, RE5, Valkyria Chronicles, Killzone2, EndWar, and not enough cash for all. It will be hard choice.
My mom just came back from vacation and got some goodies for me ;P
She got me these:

So yeah, that made me smile :D
Damn DS, you must be the coolest kid on the block
*man-child ;o
aren't you a bit old for having your mom buy you action figures?
on the very least, you should be getting them yourself.
I didn't have them buy anything, thats why it made me smile.
I've just got my guitar case. My Valkyria chronicles' awizo(notice that i can pick it up at local post office - i've got no idea what its called in English) just arrived, and it seems that tomorrow gonna be another guitar jam.

Nice darkshadow, seems you like to collect limited edition and bundle packs, especially since you got the Killzone 2 with the hat :).
What made me smile today was when my little baby niece was talking, of course it was 3 month baby talk which consisted of "Gahs" "Aahs" and finally she can say "hi"
Make sure her fourth word is "gotwoot".Quote:

A small thing really, but it made the day a lot better.
Gunpowder tea balls smell like shit and look like shit pellets, but tastes pretty good when brewed. Go figure.
Itadakimasu's avatar made me smile today :)
I went for our national medical school admission test today. A 2.5hr component followed by an hour of lunch, then another 3hrs of testing....
I wouldn't call it "satisfactory", but I guess I won't know till results come out. I might have done fairly well after all. But since I can't use these scores to apply as it's a graduate entry thing anyway, today was more of a practice run, so I kind of winged it without preparation.
One of my weakness was my vocabulary, which kind of shows in the humanitarian section - but there's not terribly much I can do about that unless I read (and use, or I'll just forget) some really obscure and often long words.
The more important thing I should work on would be essay writing. Not having done stimulus-plan-write-STOP essays for a good few years, I suck at it now :o. It won't be too hard to brush up on this though, and next year when it counts, it'll just be like essay preparation in my highschool days.
Science was the part I loved. Of the topics and types of questions tested, I either did it in first year Pharmacy, second year Pharmacy, highschool chem/physics, or 3rd year pharm... In fact, the first question on the paper was something we just did....2 days ago? :D (Heart valves/sound and their impairments, for those interested).
Study wouldn't be necessary for that part, unlike those who are doing law, working, or something non-biochem based. The only things I can think of that I should read up again would be some rules/concepts on lenses/light/real-or-virtual images, and alpha-beta-gamma radioactive decay.
Anyway, now that that's finished, I topped off the day with some CSS fragging and Hellsing Ultimate 5 (now that Anon's the only choice). THAT made me smile :)
I got on the bus today, and instead of setting my laptop on hibernate like I usually do, I decided to put it on standby instead. Since I've never really tested how much power standby mode drains compared to hibernation (zero minus the small amounts needed to maintain the clock etc), I initially wanted to check the power level after my 1hr bus trip.
I got off the bus and went to work afterwards and went to work, came home and what not.
9 hours later, I finally remembered to turn it on again to find a 10% decrease in battery charge.
It greatly exceeded my expectations, so it made me smile.
Talking to career advisers through my university is helping me relieve some of the worry of graduating and finding a job. Right now I'm seriously considering teaching English abroad. I'd love to go to graduate school, but as it's too late to apply for any for this next school year, my next year will be spent working. I can only hope I find something that interests me.
Also there's a guy sitting next to me who sounds exactly like Noam Chomsky. It's making me sleepy.
Following up from this post:

I did some more searching to find a store that sells that heatsink for $56. It incurs a $20 delivery charge though, bumping the gross cost to $76.
I then checked another site I was getting some Nexus 120mm fans from, and they had a $10-off special going that I wasn't aware of.
So now buying 3 of these fans like I intended covers the delivery charge and then some.:)
My daughter celebrated her 4th month last week, and I made this video for her yesterday. :)
And yeah remember to watch in HD. Anyone knows how to directly link to the HD version of a video in youtube?
I think if you add this tag at the end of the YouTube link, it'll set it to High Quality: &fmt=18
So basically, for those that want to watch the video in High Quality (I recommend that you should), use this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_hYP2ZCQ0k&fmt=18.
Other than that, kudos to Psyke for the awesome video. Very cute, indeed. :p
Nice video, but man, I forgot how top-heavy babies are. That child is about 2/3 head.
I love the last second of the video where she slaps her head on the mattress after flipping over.
The last few seconds just made my day. :o
Aww cute vid, congrats!
Washing my dogs made me grin. =D And smile.
Man, I love dogs. Also...my dad received expensive chocolate and shared it with me.
Chocolate. Guaranteed smiles.

for reference 1 USD is now like 3,6PLN, 1 euro is near 4PLN

Yea, it did. I was gonna play with my friends, then I saw that my Friend Code list was wiped out. My friends were telling me "where are you?" and I replied "oh, yea... I reformatted my Wii." They laughed at me and I smiled a bit.

I finally got the results back this week.
Math I: 91/100
Math II: 92/100
{equivalent of GMAT} - 750/800 - which is actually alot better than it seems, it's more close to 99.5% of total population.
I'm frickin' awesome.
Congratufuckinglations! man good work.
This week I've had a 2 tests math one and polish one, they were just to prepare us for the real deal next year, I'll have to write Physics(advanced), Polish(basic), Maths(advanced), and English(Advanced), Although the tests I've written were basic level they were very easy, and passing percentage is 30%(just like on real deal). When i write them next year marks from those test will be used to determine if i get to the university i want. I'm thinking on Gdansk's Technical University on IT course. I was thinking about Polish-Japanese High IT school - but it'll be too hard for me(it is one of best in Europe).
And that they were easy made me smile - if i have such tests next year I'll pass without any doubt.
I am just floating on air.
Went to a party last night, mostly to say goodbye to a bunch of people from my art club who I'll never see again. Halfway through the night, instead of giving a cliche goodbye speech, I made everyone get in a circle and say nice things about everyone else. It was a great bonding experience, and everyone talked openly and sincerely. Apparently I myself spoke quite eloquently, despite my drunkenness, and the whole thing has given me a high that's been able to battle a hangover.
I also confirmed for myself that, despite what I feel when I'm lonely and being pathetic, I have made a few very good friends here. Graduation sucks.

Okay, so there was this perverted guy in my Physics class and he's a pretty funny and outgoing guy.
So there we were in Physics class learning about atoms, lights and whatnot when he puts up his hand and sets up his question:
"Teacher, this is regarding our last unit about light and vision. You know how clothing can absorb most of the lights and the color of a shirt is typically the color that is reflected back into our eyes, right? ..."
He continues:
"Well, what is the science of light involved in when you can see through a white t-shirt when it gets wet? Is there refraction of light involved in any way?"
After such words were spoken, the entire class succumbed into a roar of laughter. They were laughing at this guy who just asked a suggestively sexual question to the teacher that has somehow infused science and humor together in a perfectly legitimate question for physics.
I was laughing pretty hard myself. But then...
I realized I WAS that guy who asked the question.
I also did not realize my teacher was wearing a white shirt herself.
God damn it!

I checked my connection after it connected, and I was getting 7000kbps downstream with a noise margin of 4dB.
I emailed my ISP and told them I had some dropout issues with my previous provider, and I said I would be willing to sacrifice a bit of speed for a higher noise margin.
30mins later, I noticed my connection went to shit. When I checked my connection afterwards, I see I'm connected at 1400kbps now with a 30dB noise margin.
I was expecting them take no notice, or try something a little lower, but not this........extreme...p.
In any case, that made me smile.
I've sent them an email asking them to change me to a "list of preferred settings", or if that's too demanding, then just put me back on what I was before. That connection was just a bit TOO stable ;)
My snr-margin is 12dB(close), 10dB(far).
I never really knew what this meant though. In what way does it impact the connection?
SNR = signal-to-noise ratio, aka Noise Margin.
For every meter of phone line, joints, interference etc, there's noise on the line. If the cable passes underneath a road or someone's house, trucks passing and partying causes interference noise on the line.
For ADSL modems to function, they have to send their signal ABOVE the background noise of your line so it can be heard above all other interference at the other end, the phone exchange.
SNR is the margin for error that either your service provider, or your modem decided on when it makes a connection. The higher the SNR, the more gap there is between the signal and the noise, reducing the less likely it is that the SNR will drop to zero.
For example:
If your connection specified an SNR of 4dB. If there was any outside inteference, like the sources I said above, or a phone rang, etc, the noise increases from earlier (when we established a connection). If the accumulative noise rose by 4dB, say, the result is that the modem notices it can no longer differentiate between noise and signal. It compensates for that by adding more power into the signal.
(A good analogy is like shouting louder at a gathering when the music turns up).
There a limit to how much power the modem can put out though, and when that limit is reached, background noise drowns out signals. CRC errors occure, packets arrived screwed up, and you lose synchonisation. The result is a disconnection.
Why not just jack up SNR as high as it can go?
That's because the higher the margin you set, the less frequency bandwidth you have for your ADSL connection. By increasing the "gap" between noise (the lower frequencies) and signal (the higher frequencies), you sacrifice a larger frequency range in the middle as a bigger safety margin for you connection, meaning it takes greater noise to rise up to your signal and drown it out. By doing that, you can no longer use those frequencies for your ADSL traffic.
I think I read somewhere that 3dB of margin is equivalent to about 1000kbps of bandwidth.
Some people with short lines, or great quality lines can sig with low SNRs and enjoy great speed, because their line isn't subject to any big sources of interference.
Other people who live really far from exchanges, or have a bad quality line, will be more likely to suffer from noise interference, and thus have to sacrifice some speed for a bigger noise margin, and better stability.
Things pretty much worked out about as well as I hoped it would, so fuck Murphy's Law :]Quote:

HOORAY for Bike to work day!
On this one glorious day they set up 'energizer stations' along the most traveled routes. These stations have juice, coffee donuts, bagels muffins fruit and assorted goodies; as much as you want. They also hand out musette bags
http://www.marinbike.org/Events/BTWD2007/Photos/Bag.jpg
which have in them cycling goodies: cliff bars, patch kits, gels etc. and tehy have coupons for awesome stuff, X% off at shops, free burritos and the like. I even got a coupon book for tons of stuff that usually sells for $25. On top of all that I don't have to make breakfast or coffee so bed to bike is like 10 minutes instead of 30. Finally, and best of all, I'm less alone riding to work.
Today though bike to work day was a trap. The afternoon winds were much worse than typical for May, sustained winds of 20, gusts up to 30. I felt so bad for the people that don't ride regularly and who surely didn't realize what there ride home had in store for them. I tried to help a number of people to get down the road by having them sit on me but the people that needed the help weren't able to hold my wheel and the ones that could hold my wheel didn't need help. After spending several miles constantly slowing back down to 16 so some peeps could catch back on to me, and then get lost again I just gave up and brought my speed back up to my normal 21-22 (fucking winds, so slow). I DID however teach one guy how to track stand. If he heeds my advice, and practices for a year or two he'll be awesome. Ahhhh, riding my bike makes me happy.
On a side note I looked up the DSMV iV for addiction and I'm pretty sure cycling counts. Joy!
Went to a totally swanky house party up in the hills in Bel-Aire last night. The place was huge...they had a room with a giant TV, a room with workout equipment, and a room with just furniture and art. The backyard looked like a tropical jungle with a waterfall, a pool and a firepit in the corner, and a gazebo-looking structure that was a hot tub. There was also a trail in the back that led up the hill with various furniture scattered along the way to just lay down on and look up at the sky or look down at the neighborhood. There was also a band playing there and a bartender serving free drinks.
I think I know what my next purchase is gonna be.
My instructor finally posted my grade for the Sociology class I took online, and I got a B !!!!
Smiling because I stopped doing the assigned reading after the third or fourth chapters and I was extremely cynical about the whole class w\ the teacher on several occasions. Probably the most pointless class ever all of it based on what some random guy thinks, and not about facts.
So, now I just need one more class to complete my associates degree !
On Tuesday my bike finally destructed in a sudden blaze of glory that stranded me 10 mi from home and 20 miles from work. But I got my new frame in, swapped out my grupo. They even upgraded me (a BIG upgrade too) to a Full carbon bike.
Gentlemen behold!
http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/q...l/P1000641.jpg
my new baby. I'm gonna ride her hard, put her away wet and hopefully tear her apart.
I'm no bikie, but that looks like a nice ride. Perhaps even nicer still when it gets a seat in place.
That's how I roll, I'm kinky that way
er...
The picture was taken after she was half built, but before I had found a solution to the seatpost/saddle issue. On wed I rode my mtn bike to work, did a sprint ride too b/c I was late; went to some shops on my way home and found the bolts I needed to finish her. Stayed up all night wrenching. Did a test ride at 3am for 40 minutes. Found more issues, kept working till it was time to go to work. MY GOD THAT BIKE IS FAST. My average speed, (pure distance over time) was 21. covering 22 miles. after having not slept and done a sprint ride the prior day. When she was moving she was going over 20. If she had long enough w/o interruption from intersections and lights, she was holding 25+. You know that feeling when you are driving for hours and hours in the middle of nowhere and look down and realize you are accidentally going over 100. The ride to work was like that; at one point I looked down and said holy shit! I'm going 30. The bike is possessed by some wicked fast evil speed demon, and I like it that way. All I have to do is think about pedaling and she does all the work. It's the fastest bike I've ever owned.
....and it's time to go to work. toodles!
Sounds like great fun. I envy you for having a passionate hobby. Really. There's like nothing that motivates me anymore.
why not? how can I/we help?
Why should there be anything I care about? Sure, give it a try. Maybe I should make a new thread or something for it.Quote:
