maybe kishimoto didnt give a damn, and maybe the producers didnt want to bore the viewers with 15 extra minutes of the genins trying to perform ninjutsus

besides, before anyone did anything, neji used his byakugan to examine the trap
just as shikamaru said, you need to know what the trick is, you cant just blindly claw your way out when you dont even know what'll happen. For all they knew, it couldve either been a simple rock wall, or it couldve been some explosive material that would kill them all if they acted to hastily

Tch, I was slightly disappointed with the episode. Mainly because the tempo was far too slow. It would have been a lot more interesting with more and better dialogue. Oh well, it at least beats the hell out of the previous filler arc.

I think this episode was mainly to show Shikamaru's capabilities as a leader and how his team will react. Obviously Neji and Chouji had an idea what Shikamaru had in mind (meaning they know they can trust him) yet Kiba and Naruto were completely fooled with the "backstab". It's also cool to see the other Genins' moves again, hehe (Kiba's fang destroyer and Chouji's meat tank).

I agree. I also think it was to emphasize the trust between chouji and shikamaru.

Was the move that looks just like 'fang destroyer' Kiba's new move? IT looked the same.

Also, I remember hearing chouji say he has a new move, too. I wonder what it is...

Absolutely freaking awesome that Terra used fucktard! Are you a fan of Red vs Blue? Ne ways, I thought the ep was so-so. Although it did prove to me that Shika is a great strategist and leader. I suppose Chouji deserves some credit as well...maybe. Ne ways, I'm excited to see what Neji can come up with in the ensuing fight. At least I'm assuming there's going to be a fight.

It'll be interesting to see if Chouji will pull off his new move in the next episode. Wonder if Kiba will also or save it for later...

I think Kiba's move will be a combined tsuga with Akamaru, like a double helix.

I have no idea what Chouji's new move is.

chouji and ino have great techniques.. but suck without the brains to fool the opponent into fallling for it...

so shika provides the thinking for them...

If Sakuke really did make it to level 2, then i'm sure Naruto will use his red Charka, but Sakura will possibly bust in and stop the fight again.
