looks fake to me.
if that is the real roster, ill be extremely happy, i just wanted g&w and mewtwo back.
but it would be weird to include micaiah as playable char, instead of lyndis, who is a assist trophy (which sux)
whose the guy beside captain falcon? batman?Quote:

There's much more recognizable f-zero villains than Black Bull....like Samurai Goroh (assist trophy) and that green alien thing....or even Blood Falcon.

Thanks for posting all this here, UChessmaster. I'm trying to keep up with all the news being revealed and can't be bothered. This is all too amazing.

Updated Roster, with Toon Link:
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/5...krostercd1.jpg
it seems the only two character left are jiggly and wolf
It's kind of odd that Captain Falcon is still the only confirmed character in his franchise in this game.
The idea of Wolf being in Brawl really bugs me for some reason. We don't need another Star Fox character!

Ahahaha.....oh Snake-u~

This game will be so epic. I will get very little sleep come this March....

I hate this game.... no mewtwo, but yeah bring back falco woohoo.....

Though im really glad about g&w
Lucario could end up being the new mewtwo based on that pic with snake.Quote:

mewtwo is the only cut i regret :(
@XanBcoo: *cough* getamodchip *cough*
Well, until there's confirmation about that last character, I say Mewtwo is still a possibility.
But sources say it's 90% likely it'll be Wolf. He was posted on a roster list sometime last week along with R.O.B., Toon Link, Lucario, and Ness. All of those have been confirmed except for him.
Personally I'd prefer Mewtwo to Lucario, but I might get used to it.
But Xan, Lucario is all small and blue:Quote:

^^^^^^ That was already posted a while ago, Assertn.
Toon Link vs. Gannondorf
Disappointing thing is that both of them look like clones of Young link and Captain Falcon, respectively. Awesome thing is the level and the music and also the new designs I guess.

Edit: I take it back, Lucario is not a mewtwo replace.
utter phail.....
I'm trying reallllllly hard not to be annoyed by Wolf's inclusion.
I think it only seems a little underwhelming because of the way all the new characters were introduced to us. If I had been told that Wolf and Lucario were being introduced to the game way back when it was announced, I wouldn't have even cared. And then if I was told about the 10 new characters, including Snake and Sonic, that were gonna be in it, I would have shorted out.
This way it's just kinda: "OH SHIT! SNAKE! SONIC, WOW....OLIMAR...Lu..cario...Oh, I guess Star Wolf is in this too...?"
I'm happy though. Still can't wait.
Explain? Wolf is a little disappointing, but what more could you want/ask for?Quote:

Personally I'm disappointed with this roster. I don't mind the characters they chose, I don't even mind that theres only 35, what I do care about though is that so many of the characters are too similar to each other, or even clones! If they could only make 35 characters in the time they had, fine, but make it a unique 35, don't put in a stronger but slower version of a certain character.
The 3 Star Fox characters I'm okay with, I'm surprised that Wolf got in over say someone like Krystal since Sakurai mentioned that they would like more female characters, but I don't really mind. What I do care about though is that all three characters are pretty much the same... Why does Falco have the same final smash as Fox? Didn't he say he hated the Land Master? And if Wolf's final smash is indeed yet another Land Master, thats just plain laziness on Sakurai's part.
Toon Link is the pretty much the same as Young Link in Melee? Why couldn't they make him a new character with Wind Waker items such as the Skull Hammer or the Deku Leaf? And Gannondorf still being a clone of Captain Falcon? Jesus, at least let him use his sword.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm still very excited to get this game, you got online play, a very good looking adventure mode, better graphics, nice looking levels and a whole lot of neat and fun additions. And although there are still some interesting characters added to the roster such as Sonic, Snake, Meta Knight and a few others, I can't help but feel disappointed from what I originally expected.
There's something fundamentally wrong about complaining about this number. I think once you start playing through the game with each and every one of these guys, you'll realize just how large that number is. This isn't M.U.G.E.N., any roster higher than 40 is just unrealistic. In any case, there are 36 characters since Zero Suit Samus can be selected from the selection screen by holding R. This was recently confirmed.Quote:

36 characters
26 old guys - perfectly acceptable in Melee
10 new additions - including Sonic and Snake
6 clones - 4 of which are returning from Melee; so it's hardly unexpected
Once you stop saying "only" this and that, the roster is pretty fucking beefy, and I can't see much wrong with it. Wolf and Toon Link were a bit of a letdown, but again, it's all in how the information was presented to us.
Well, I admit I phrased that pretty poorly, 36 in fact is a very large roster for a fighting game, but I was expecting around 35 clone free characters.
Now I'm not saying the roster is bad, not at all, thinking about it now my expectations may have just been unrealistic from the getgo, I may have just been excited by seeing the majority of the characters released fairly early, and expected a lot more new characters in the game.
However, Toon Link, Gannondorf and Wolf, I think those 3 are my biggest disappointments. In fact, if all 3 of those characters had a unique move set, I think I would like this roster, and thinking about that, I'm probably just overreacting about this if thats all it would take to change my opinion.
Overall I still am a little disappointed about the roster, but rethinking it, it's not as bad as I first thought, and like most games, I should reserve my judgment until I actually play it.
Yeah, you know I really won't defend the Wolf and Toon Link thing. It is kinda disappointing. I just think the differences will stand out great enough to make it not matter.Quote:

Wow, Lucario is actually significantly different than Mewtwo. I think I really like him. Gannondorf was also changed up a bit to make him less clone-y.
Falco in 1 vs. 1 action
Most of his move set is different.
Lol what, tekken 6 has 40 chars, and soul calibur 3 had 42 chars..... and these are all fighting games with very big moves lists and such, yet brawl with its miniscule moves list per char couldnt have more then 35.Quote:

Utter Phail.., i just hope sakurai thought of something smart like Downloadable characters.... *sigh*
In most other fighting games, the move list is the only unique element in every battle.
In smash bros, there are far more things to worry about than just the move list.
Besides, I find more complexity and strategy from the simplicity of the character gameplay vs holy-fucking-shit-up-up-down-Select-A fireball that does 5% damage!!!
I concur, you really can't compare Smash to other fighters.
Brawl is a combination of placing, moves, settings, and timing. Soul Caliber is just a series of combos. There is definitely a huge difference. Im glad there isn't more than 40 characters.
Yeah, this was similar to my response. Smash Brothers is unique and deep enough in quality to not warrant having 50 throw-away characters.Quote:

The stage editor gives the game literally unlimited replay value. And you're complaining because you wanted more characters? Most guys only main with 1 or 2 to begin with. What do you need with 50 others?
Fwd, Back, Fwd, Half-circle forward = Dizzy's Gamma Ray! The only complicated inputted attack I will never forget. (Also one of the few worth the complicated move if your timing was good.)
Smash has never been about the inputs, or so much the characters. It's supposed to be a fun fighter that's easy for anyone to get into. Sure, there's all the "advanced" techniques (read: exploited glitches) and insane frame analysis like any hardcore 2D fighter has, but at it's core the only requirement of Smash was timing. Or...you could just C-stick if you were new or lazy.
I always saw Smash Bros. as a series where the ITEMS were the most fun part. What other major fighting franchise incorporated items? There were also so many of them. Granted, purists (read: tourneyfags) will turn off all the items and demand the ultra-bland arenas, but the appeal for me was always the totally chaotic feel of a free-for-all match with all items on and the item rate set to "excessive."
It didn't matter if Guy-down-the-hall was insane at recoveries, you just hit him in the face with a barrel and won the match when it somehow exploded.
Call it luck, call me a bad player for never bothering to learn wavedashing, I was only in it for the fun.
-------------------------------------
At least now the tourneyfags will have to at least leave the Final Smash on. Even they are not immune to its shiny luster, overpowered attacks and amusing animations (in some cases).
I've got nothing against itemless final destination matches because, let's face it, it IS a little more competitive to minimize the randomness of a match. I usually like to keep items low, but I never had anything against the crazier stages like poke floats. I just like matches where players can utilize pure skill that they've developed through experience.
Glitch exploits are retarded, and developing your skills primarily off of training mode using cheap tricks people post in the smashboards forum is dumb and alienating to your friends.
I agree, my friends and I typically play with a reduced number of items (the pill capsules, Homerun bats, food, the little freeze block, pokeballs, beam sword, and few others) with the dispersal rate lowered. Then either the Temple, Poke Stadium, or the starfox level (forget the name of the ship).
But I've always enjoyed the occasional item-heavy match at the Mushroom Castle.
4 player Giant Melee on Final Destination with Super Mushrooms set to Very High is still my favorite crazy fight.
Otherwise yeah, low-ish items, on a large stage like Hyrule Temple or Corneria is probably the best kinda fight when you want to play "competitively".
No way, that is just way too much. They call me the Item King. Anyone anytime anywhere, Bob-omb to the face.Quote:

Some chain throws are included, intentional or not. I saw a video of a King Dee Dee down throw Ike across the stage and then just edge guard really well. Could have been a result of bad DI though.
My only beef is that L-cancelling seems to be gotten rid of. So certain jabs or pokes will now result in a shield grab or similar counter. Guess it's up to the player to be extra tricky or careful. It also puts more of an emphasis on special moves and learning the blockstun of different moves.
From the videos I've seen on youtube, it seems like items just dominate the playing field. It was really hard to follow what was happening sometimes. I like the occasional item bash, but if I want to fight somebody straight up, I would much rather play minus items (except Final Smashes, because those look tasty).
Personally i know how to do advanced techniques, but when i play with someone i play however that person plays, can`t say i love items but i don`t mind playing without them.
Anyway... the game seems to be a dual layer dvd, since there was no wii dual layer raw dumper there is no iso... yet, because a program was released, it seems to be almost 8gb
The game does NOT works on wiikey but it does on cylowiz

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/howto...chnique10.html
Sakurai also confirmed that you can change between Zero Suit Samus and regular Samus by not only holding shield before the match starts, but also by mashing your taunt buttons rapidly in game.
That's pretty neat!
Holy shit. There are some of the serious hardcore 2D-fighter techniques in there. These are the kinds of things we see in some of the SF games, Guilty Gear, Melty Blood, and even Virtua Fighter. Yes, I know VF is a 3D, but its one of the most technical fighters period, and Smash shares Ukemi with it among a few others.
Ukemi is a mixture of teching and DI. Essentially if you air dodge after an attack (preferably opposite the direction of the blow) you cancel the momentum significantly.
Perfect shielding was insanely hard to do in Melee even with awesome reflexes, let's see how it pans out in Brawl.
Small jump or short hop was already vital in the SSB64 and Melee if you wanted to play competitively. It led to the SHFFL of aerials and such. Good thing they pointed it out because it is really important.
I'm confused, is "Ukemi" not exactly the same thing as "teching"?? Where are you getting the rest of that from?Quote:

Yea, Ukemi is essentially teching but you also have to DI towards the ground, wall, or ceiling, otherwise you'll blow right past it.
Hopefully you can still do stuff like this though:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QElifBiVv60
What I was talking about was the insane DI ability. I read on smashboards that if you DI towards the stage while air dodging after a blow that would kill you otherwise, it significantly reduces knockback.
edit:
the insane DI ability was debunked because due to the fact that attacks get weaker when repeated.

Even if you don't want to "participate in battles" with me, you will most likely play someone who uses these techniques over the net especially seeing how much faster they will proliferate online.
Way to ruin the game for everyone else really quickly tourneyfags...
I have to say, it's disgusting that the first thing so many of these people do after unlocking most of the characters (if they even waited that far) is to spend 80 hrs straight looking for exploits.
Neg rep me if you have to, but can't these types of people just enjoy the damn game like the rest of us? Nooooo, they need an "edge" that they happen to only be able to achieve consistently under highly controlled circumstances.
There's nothing to say Nintendo can't patch this game and remove a couple of these glitches. Darkshadow already posted the possibility that Sakurai would and quite possibly can update the game.
This is...after all, the first Nintendo console connected to the internet.

Besides, like Xan said in his post, there's nothing gamebreaking. You really only ought to be complaining if, say, it was discovered that there was a way to make every smash attack an instant KO in every instance.
What I don't fully understand is why people dislike it when people play Melee competitively. It has literally no affect on their lives and how they play whatsoever. If I want to play Melee/Brawl with items and never do a single advanced move, then by all means I would do that, but I sure as hell wouldn't start cheering when I find out wavedashing and L-cancelling are removed. It obviously never had any bearing on how I played in the first place, so why would I care whether it was in or out? Similarly, I wouldn't start complaining when new techniques are discovered because I would never use them anyway.
Brawl definitely won't match the speed of Melee, which is one of the things I found really fun and made it into the competitive game it became. Granted some of these new techniques are ridiculous, but the ones that will help Brawl approach Melee's speed, I will gladly accept.
You didn't hear the cry of relief from them when Final Destination was listed on the site?Quote:

The characters not allowed will undoubtedly change, with all the balancing, but it's only a matter of time.
@darkmetal: It's not Melee, it's any fighting game. There's always a select few to even just that one guy who sucks all the fun out of every fighting game. Tekken? You can't use Eddie (okay, I will give them that one, since most Tekken games, I don't know about the newer ones, have no counter system). How about Guilty Gear? Can't use Instant Kills (despite how much skill is required to not miss, and the huge disadvantage if you do). Can't use EX modes, at all (despite damage not really being affected, only move lists). Soul Caliber? Can't use several stages, and a few characters.
All in the name of "playing competitively." It's a fighting game, a genre designed for the arcades and competitive play. There's always going to be some advantage or another. You can get around the majority of them if you really are as good as you claim to be.
Nop, you can make your own stages...Quote:

Talking about stages, now? Again, no one is degrading the quality of the game by not allowing you, personally, to play in any stages. Honestly, if you disapprove of that "Final Destination only" rule in whatever tourney you attend that much, just start your own tournament with your own rules.Quote:

I would have to agree with Ryllharu, but only for the Super Smash Bros. series. For games like Tekken and Soul caliber, they seem to be meant to be played that competitively. But for such a game as Brawl, it just doesn't strike me as one that people should be fretting over for finding exploits. Its more of a goofy game with whacky scenarios and to me it feels that it should be played simply for the fun of it.
Not that I would stop other people from wasting their valuable time trying to find techniques such as wave-dashing, they can do what they want. But I'd be a little discouraged from playing with a group of people who are constantly on the look-out for new techniques to instant KO.
I think finding exploits and glitches are completely incidental. There's nothing inherently wrong with that since I don't think people actually spend time trying to find some of that stuff. Maybe I'm just optimistic.
As for the BS rules that people make up, I'd just try to ignore them. Play with people you know you'll have fun with and do it by your own rules.
Actually, looking at the exploit vids that Xan posted, the nature of quite a few of those glitches are "goofy" and "whacky," so it fits in line with how you describe Brawl. Afterall, you can't have a fun PvP game without ever once shouting out "THAT'S BULLSHIT!" and having a fine laugh over it.Quote:

I will gladly concede that most of the Brawl glitches are just for fun, but I can't help but see that in those videos, the people doing them were hunting for competitive exploits (except maybe the Jumbo Jiggly, which certainly happened by accident). Someone was looking for an alternative to wavedashing, which we all knew was gone (not that I ever even bothered to learn it, I only play with friends).
Well I was referring more to wave-dashing... some of the glitches shown in the link above were obvious and didn't really take much time to figure out at all :\
I remember the old forum engine had a way you could post "answers" to threads.Quote:

Which is why instead of always getting caught off-guard by the same tricks and bitching about them, you learn and develop methods to get around them.Quote:

Actually that is not true at all. The best counter measure vs any tourneyfag is to turn off the game when you finally realize you are playing one.Quote:
