Masa's 'Blow-by-blow' analysis of e7 episode 33
7:00: More than halfway into this series and they finally decide to give us a timetable on the setting. About damn time!
7:01: Goddamn Icealchemist! Just stick with a damn name for stuff already!
7:03: Ken-Goh, "We weren't too late. They were just too fast." Well... if looking at it with that perspective will help you feel better...
705-06: Fat man made Renton look slow:p And his important memory is symbolized by a candy:rolleyes:
End Part A thought: Best scenes in this episode so far have all been with Talho. Thought right before the break that a different title would be more appropriate...
713: Aren't the military a little concerned about where the fuck all the top scientists from Tresor went?
713: "And brighten Eureka's mood with your feelings" *barfs*
714: Talho's voice sound way off during this scene to anyone else? Wish they'd stop with the dramatic music in the background...
716: The theme of 'toys' really hits me. Was wondering why the bloody hell Matthew was playing with his music equipment during the meeting (and why they focused the camera on it), and the shot from Moondoggie and the older guys Reffing to the orphans' box of toys really brought it out.
717: Excellent contrast shift. Trust in emotions, trust in science.
718: Hearing 'Hey Stoner!' cracks me up :D
719: The sun sets as Holland takes his (pitiful) last ride...
720: Rings! Holland is lost to the scourge of marriage! Lament, lament!
722: Like any of them were ever going to leave? I mean, most of them are still going to be on 'Wanted' posters for being Gekko-go members, even if they say they've disbanded... I hate those 'Oh my god what's the chances you guys would stay?' bits.
I think this is the first time we actually see what Moondoggie does on the ship.
End Reaction: A little too 'feel-good' for my morbid tastes, but still a pretty good episode with some well-done moments. Only towards the end did I get the idea that the overall theme in the episode was 'Dawn-Day-Sunset' but ending on a point of 'Tomorrow is another day also'. Also the 'toys' and 'mementos' themes were pretty heavily stressed.
Preview reaction: Dewey on the throne (if Norbu is some possible diplomat to the Coralians Dewey (or rather, if I were Dewey) should put a bullet through his head), flashback to Eureka finding the kids (Maurice gets more attention, i hope). Hoping for some action!
Masa's 'Blow-by-blow' analysis of e7 episode 34
well, it's that time again! Here I go
7:01 - Finally figured out who that random Military guy in the intro (radar operator) reminds me of! He looks just like 004 from Cyborg 009 and Moe the bully from Calvin and Hobbes! ;)
7:03 - rather unrefined speech for Norbu, that took me by surprise. Dewey looks bout ready to pull a coup d'etat. Fucking confident as hell.
7:05 - Doggie got demoted. Burned. Poor guy...
7:06 - That the same room Anemone was kept in in the start of the series?
7:07 - Where in god's name did that rifle Eureka's LFO used disappear to? That thing is fucking wicked! The military in this show are fucking retarded
7:09 - Norbu pwns KLFs with his barehands, awesomest part of episode
End part A thought - Norbu is the fucking man!
Hope for part B - this is going to be all flashback isn't it...
7:11 - A Coralian interaction with humans before Eureka... Sakuya eh...
7:12 - Eureka's eyes contract, instant change in behavior. They say eyes are the windows to the soul... I'm wondering if the sight of the kids changed her, or if it was 'seen by the planet' and then the planet changed her. Next line is Norbu saying: "Her birth was of the planet's will." Coincidence? I think not. Makes me wonder how much of Eureka is actually Eureka and how much is input from the planet?
Confirmed: Maurice is going to stop having Eureka as his 'mother' eventually...
714-15: Norbu pwns again. Dialog here was a bit cheesy tho.
7:18 - Is that sage bitch just going to let Dewey pull the rug out from under her? Does she know what he's planning and agrees with it or does she just trust him?
7:19 - Doggie's moving back up! :D
7:21 - second time they've focused on Holland tieing his boots. Last time was before del Cielo, this time is before the Capital... Wonder what they're hinting at...
7:22 - BOMBSHELL!
End episode 34 thought: Norbu might be even more badass than Axel Thurston.. but what exactly is he got in mind?
goddamn this show is awesome... but maybe i've just become less attentive to them, or maybe there's been less of them, but I felt that there weren't alot of 'subtle' hints or themes to this episode... that's one of the things I love the most about this show, and while the plot is good I hope they'll continue with them.
Masa's 'Blow-by-blow' analysis of e7 episode 35
7:00 - New footage for the first few seconds of the OP... just Eureka falling as opposed to the old one with just footage of the clouds. Wonder if that means anything?
7:03 - lol at the computer generated voice in the army defense post. Zoids Genesis anyone?
damn Doggie isn't doing to bad, flying at that low of an altitude with a huge ship like that. Maybe he should have been the pilot all along?
7:06 - they're getting all bookish on us! The Bible (but i don't know from where Dewey pulled that 'Let there be words' as the 1st command from God line... i've never heard such a line from any religious text...) and then it's a Dostoevsky reference (i love that).
What the hell is Eureka being such a wimp about? They're fucking shooting at you bitch! Shoot back!
7:11 - Anemone is fucking scary looking when she's bugging out. An upgrade eh? :)
End Part A thought: Someone please feed Eureka a can of "Bitch shut the fuck up"!
Hope for Part B - And you better eat every last bit of it!
7:15 - For someone who looks so old Dewey sure talks a hell of alot of trash about Norbu's age...
7:17 - Bombshell! I did not see that one coming in any way shape or form...
Give me a needle and thread, I'm gonna sew Eureka's mouth shut
7:19 - Renton finally sounded like a real hero, and not just some run-of-the-mill anime trashbomb. Now let's see him slice some KLFs up
7:20 - And Dewey lands a low blow on Holland! Oh that's gotta hurt! :D
7:21 - Heroic arrival. Blah. Dewey shoulda had those two Ageha squad kids pop Renton and Eureka between the eyes when they were stupid enough to open up the Nirvash cockpit...
7:24 - Dewey is pissed, and rightfully so. He just blew it big time... So why does he look so eerily confident when he goes to face the Sages?
35 Good: Dewey. Dropping plot bombshells like it's his job!
35 Bad: Eureka. God I didn't think that becoming more human meant regressing into a child...
35 Overall: Some excellent action, good music, mixed dialog, real heavy hitting plot elements. But this time I don't think I saw even one subtle metaphor or carefully placed detail or anything. It looks like they're relying more and more on the plot, animation and music and sorta pushing those small things to the side... This was still a pretty good episode, but they need to tune down the 'cheese' factor especially with some of the dialog. Thank god Dewey was in this episode...
edit - wow just read everyone elses' reactions and i certainly seem to be in the minority on this episode... guess i'm just growing numb to flashy fight scenes (they were awesome, i'll give them that) and all the heroics...
Masa's 'Blow-by-blow' analysis of e7 episode 36
36
7:00 - Sticking with the slightly modded, brighter intro i see.
7:03 - Orange looks like (two? )awesome fucking battleship(s). Bout time Dewey got some better firepower
7:04 - Norbu cracks me up. He's like a teenager
7:05 - love the Renton and Eureka noticing the 'scars'. Nice contrast. And the scratch remover going over Eureka's face in the reflection. Those are the little things I love in this show.
7:08 - fucking women's logic...
7:09 - LOL at Young Holland's voice! 12? He doesn't even look much different in that flashback.
7:12 - Don't know if it was intentional or not but I like the 'picture frame/mirror' pause.
The razor was awesome too.
7:13 - Adrock Thurston ftw!
End A part thought: I haven't enjoyed an episode of e7 like this for a long time! I'm loving the reflection imagery. Great choice in episode title too.
Start B part hope - Just keep it going!
7:15 - Eureka taking notes :p
7:18-19: More imagery than you can shake a stick at and good dialogue to boot!
7:20-21 - Feel that atmosphere change? The kids even started crying!
7:24 - Upgraded LFOs, battleship(s?). Didn't the typeEND get an upgrade too? I'm hoping they make swiss cheese out of the Gekko-go next time.
The ED goes soo well with this episode! It's like they had this (and maybe Talho's hair cutting) in mind when they made the ED
Dewey getting them riled up in the next episode preview.
Seriously awesome episode. Lots of backstory that was most necessary, great dialogue, some of the best use of themes I've seen in awhile, Dewey regrouping.
Masa's 'Blow-by-blow' analysis of e7 episode 37 (are you tired of these yet?)
7:03 - Stoner is a pretty funny name for a dedicated historian... Guy seems smarter than most of my professors
7:04 - Finally a good glimpse of the Orange. Looks like a massive harpoon type projectile. I'd always assumed it was just an energy ray, but a harpoon fits the theme of man versus nature much better...
7:07 - What. The. Fuck. Is this Limit of Life theory exactly? They keep referring to it like we should know... It seems to have no actual scientific ground to stand on...
7:08 - 10 dimensions huh? Looks like String Theory to me. 7th dimension seems to be thought, the first 3 account for physical space (action), and 4th is traditionally time. This would be M theory since Norbu talks about Vodareks existing beyond the 10th dimension (M theory holds 10 or 11 dimensions, Bosonic holds 26)
Based off this it seems Despair is like the phenomenon in Ghost in the Shell (and Brain Scratch episode in Bebop) of humans advancing to the dimension of purely thoughts through electronic means.
7:10 - goddamn the antibody Scabs are nasty... And I still can't get over the similarities to Festums from Dead Aggressor. Perfect holes appearing suddenly in physical space, directed at humans, seems to be manifestation of reaching 'the Limit of Life'
7:11 - Confirmed: Even Anemone has a conscience it seems.
End Part A thought - a very deep episode. I like.
Part B hope - Let the new military LFOs stand up to the Gekko-go, please.
7:14 - New & improved LFOs + typeZero look sweet. But i fear a DBZesque fireball duel between the 7 Swell and the Valhalla Swell as the climax of this show...
7:16 - Looked up the word 'Ageha', and in English it means Swallowtail butterfly (Anemone's mech is very similar to that)
7:17 - Dewey is one smart man. He should work for the White House
7:18 - not to mention an excellent public speaker... Love that pause and grave tone.
7:23 - Norbu explains why Eureka has been acting like such a pansy recently. It irks me much less now.
7:24 - And Eureka drops a bomb to end the episode...
Preview - Adrock heavy episode imminent
Overall: An episode relying on the strong themes and undertones of this series, this one still comes off excellently as we get the merging of lots of different (and previously underdeveloped) ideas and themes running throughout the show. Overall a most necessary episode.
You don't want in-depth thoughts on Eureka7? Too bad
Stoner is an awesome character. Most 'narrator only' types I can't stand but he just has this relatable and understandable attitude. You really get a feel for his thoughts.
Oh the great differences between the sexes... While it was a bit over-exaggerated I liked seeing Matthieu and Doggie's lines of thought and how they differed with the girls. Stoner, of course, was the only one who actually had a handle on the situation.
Great contrast too between the 'girls' camp and 'guys' camps and then Talho/Holland's more mature and real situation.

The flashback gives us a little more info on the Amita and Compac Drives. From what Norbu said and what we know about Despair it is clear that a soul can go into a Compac Drive. In the flashback Adrock pulls the Amita Drive off of the Nirvash's Compac during a Seven Swell. When Eureka wakes up the Swell is over and Adrock has simply vanished without a trace.
From this I get the sense that the Seven Swell and the large Coralians (Great Wall included) are kinds of 'gates'. The Seven Swell especially seems to be some kind of special gate for souls, connecting them to a higher level of 'the other dimensions' (remember Norbu's words in the last episode) that Coralians almost assuredly come from... The only time the Seven Swell can be achieved is when a Coralian and a human, along with a Compac and Amita Drive, interact all together.
From Despair (leaving the body but not the soul) and general LFO stuff we've seen that humans interact on their own with Compac Drives. But the Amita Drive (taking Adrock's body & soul) seems to come from 'the other side of the gate'...
The word Amita in any kind of usable context outside of the series is found in Buddhism. One of five celestial buddhas in Buddhism the Amitabha is a Buddha that people, upon dying, can pray to to take them to 'the Pure Land', basically helping the souls about to be reincarnated in the (undesirable) cycle of rebirth to be born into higher dharmas (destinies/forms of reincarnation). Basically the Amitabha is like a guide towards Nirvana, the ultimate state of being.
The Amitabha was once a man who undertook 48 vows in order to create 'the Pure Land' as a place where souls could go to seek a higher state of rebirth and aid them towards Nirvana. The most famous of these vows is the 18th, vowing that those who call upon Amitabha as few as ten times will enter the Pure Land.
The name 'Amitabha' is a combination of Amita ('boundless/infinite') and Abha ('light/splendor'). It can also be called Amitayuh (he whose life is boundless)
More about this can be found on Wikipedia.
And yes, I think this is an excellent angle from which to approach the future themes of Eureka7 from.
Once again, Stoner is the man.
...but not as cool as Dewey... Make that King Dewey
LOL at that Sage using the term 'onus' in an actual sentence. He deserved a bullet just for that.
edit to below - I wholly disagree with your opinion. It seems all the small things I so enjoy about this show are nothing to you at all, which makes me a little sad. It's not always supposed to be whizbang animation, catchy tunes and feel-good attitudes.
Thieves Masquerading as Angels
A new group has released episode 40 of Eureka Seven.
HOWEVER this group is using Nanashi-Fansubs scripts, not creating their own
They are calling themselves "Seraph Fansubs" :mad:and they're releases are based off the leaked scripts from Nanashi.
They've decided to just start at episode 40, cutting right in line.
I personally refuse to even link to them and would ask others to kindly wait for Nanashi's releases, since they put alot of time and effort into their work and have brought us everything about this great anime so far.
