are you saying that sasuke can't point his chidori in any direction? i don't see how the actual action of hitting with the chidori is any different than the action of hitting with the rasengan. hitting with the rasengan is also a form of thrusting. and if you're going with "i think if naruto just moved to the side before sasuke comes..." logic, just don't ignore that it can happen both ways. sasuke can just move to the side before naruto comes... blah blah.
