Most of my 3d studio max renders are geared toward character-based realism, rather than an abstract sig-style

Altogether it feels sorta monotone, try to bring out some of the color of his face instead of covering it with the green. Unless you were trying to make it look like a forest or something then its good. Text is nice.

Yea its pretty damn good, text is too big and bad font but that can be fixed. Although the render takes up almost every part of the sig, and from what I can see of the bg theres no depth and its just sorta smudged colors. Download some brushes and try that.

Great for your first try tho, I like the white outline you did. Originality is always a plus.
