They really needed somebody to be a healer. I don't think she specializes in healing, but she's probably just the best on their team at it. Also, just because swordfighting was the only way to play SAO doesn't mean someone wouldn't try out other types of classes in a new game.
And she's proven she'll run up and fight when she needs to.
Shinon wouldnt have HAD to retrieve Excaliber, if Kirito hadnt tossed it away like a retard 5 seconds before! lol It just doesnt make sense. Even if you say that Shinon or Liz or whoever had higher strength stats than Kirito (which is nonsense regarding Shinon, who is a SAO noob, and no, her GGO stats did not convert over, that was never mentioned), why would Kirito toss the sword instead of ASKING his dear friends to carry it for him?! Is he too proud for that or wtf?!? But the nonsense doesnt stop there. So Kirito was too weak to use the sword, alright. But when Shinon gives it to him, heīs all happy suddenly, no problems whatsoever.
Itīs a clusterfuck of not making sense.
And yes, itīd be awesome for Klein to hook up with an A.I. goddess. Hot virtual sex, while becoming the de-facto ruler over a whole virtual world.
Reminds me of my least favorite scene: Kirito kicking Klein in the face when he was about to mention Kiritoīs popularity with girls. What was the, please? Like, does Kirito intentionally try to keep the girls from realizing about their own ridiculous fangirl behavior, cause he likes it? Was super weird.

Kirito is dual wielding those bigass swords. He must have plenty of points in strength or he would tire exceedingly fast and not deliver any damage at all using only a single hand per blade. So, I won't buy the claim saying he was lacking there compared to the others. There's also the thing called inertia which would have allowed him to jump easily carrying the sword if he had run some steps before jumping.
They don't have to mention it. Kirito's stats converted to GGO. All the games created from The Seed are compatible. Stated explicitly in the beginning of the GGO arc. A character loses all their money (not sure about items or equipment, Kirito must have put them in a bank or whatever) when they switch games. They retain all their stats cross-platform.Quote:

SAO and ALO are the only exception and can be safely merged because ALO was a reskinned copy of SAO with the activated weapon skills temporarily disabled and with a spell system added. They are compatible to the point of interoperability.
That's why the AI system Yui mentioned is still active. They copied it from an early build of SAO and it has been learning the same way Yui has been. Now it makes its own quests up and apparently modifies the world for new content.
The sword was so heavy he basically couldn't jump at all. He threw it away because he knew of no way for anyone to take it with them as he didn't know about the bow magic skills. Maybe he was hoping if it cleared the rubble they could go pick it up later. Obviously he is happy to have it now, since by leveling up some more he can actually use it later.
He is most certainly the strongest one there, nobody else could carry it and make the jump.
I don't think this was very well represented/explained by the show, though.
Klein being a serious villain is dumb. He doesn't even want any of these underage teenagers. He just likes to make fun of Kirito and hang out as friends.
He could hold the sword fine in his hands, when Shinon gave it to him. And even if he totally couldnt jump with it, he could have simply gotten on top of the flying tentacle elephant first, before it had flown away some bit. The thing could have just flown directly underneath him, too. So many options, all of which would have made actual sense.
Lol, Klein would love to bang Leafa or Shinon. I doubt heīs interested in Silica. But to ridicule him even more, this episode made a slight hint at Liz falling for him ... so the only girl Klein can get is the ugly one. :/Quote:

I have not read this in the LNs, and so much of it felt illogical. The delivery was horrible. I understand what it was supposed to actually be like after reading MoM's comments, but it looked nothing like that.
1) Kirito's throw of the sword was misleading. He could have just left it on the dropping piece of rock if he could not jump with it. A spinning throw felt like he wanted to throw it somewhere.
2) Sinon held the sword as if it was the lightest thing in the virtual world.
3) Klein getting kicked was utter nonsense. It was like that scene was just there to establish the harem, which isn't really a harem because one of the girls is his actual girlfriend. I understand that Klein is being used as a foil for Kirito, but this really isn't necessary for a character who is being accused as a Gary Stu for years now.
I understand that everything could have made logical sense, but the way it was presented was utterly illogical. The director for this could learn a thing or a million from whoever is doing UBW.

What I don't get is why asking an AI out that you've never talked to earns respect. That was just weird, even more so than the sword thing. At least that explains itself after some thought.
He didn't ask her out. He only asked for her contact info. While you could see it as desperate instead of brave, why not? Not many would have necessarily thought to do such a thing in the middle of the finishing part of the mission. He was polite about it and honest to his feelings, not letting the gallery embarrass him out of it. I think it was quite respectful. I don't see that much of a problem behind the kick's motivation. Kirito has a harem but is embarrassed when Klein calls him out on it. If a friend said instead "It must be sooo nice to bepopularsmart" in a teasing manner, I can see some sort of nudge/punch coming. In real life it wouldn't be a jumping boot to the face, but this is a video game so I make slightly more allowances.
It's still violence, but I can't see it playing out any other way. It's synonymous with those kicks or pinches under the table.
Kirito doesn't actually cheat on Asuna in any way. He maintains his friendliness with the others, and I do believe that Asuna would accept the current status quo. They're all her friends and she can't help that her boyfriend is popular. Shit would be going down if this was White Album or something, but alas this is SAO.

More than anything, the kick came across as Kirito enjoying being so popular with all the girls. So to keep it that way, he didnīt want Klein to openly point it out, thus potentially ruining it for him.

Which consequently maintains his harem.

Which means none of them actually like Kirito that much. At most, they have a crush on him, much like how people like celebrities or 2d anime characters. This makes sense because none of them have actually spent a lot of time with him, excluding Asuna, the legal wife, and Suguha, the legal sister.
I agree. He's like the hot highschool guy archetype. They all like him because he's cool, but only two of the girls would instinctively die for him because they love him.

I don't think it would have hurt Sinon if he casually mentioned Asuna when she was rolling around with her head on his lap.
I'm not saying he should have declared he was not single. There are many subtle ways to do it to prevent Sinon from raising her hopes up. The way Kirito was touching her all over (he never did as much with anyone, even Asuna in normal scenes) was really odd.
I'm pretty sure the adaptation is at fault. I never had problems with Phantom Bullet when I was reading it.
I like to think Kirito thinks of Sinon as a "bro" more than a girl. They've been through similar circumstances. She tries to act more manly than the other girls. I could easily see him being as touchy with Klein, but we don't really get to see them hang out as much.

Kirito appeared to be a lot more donkan in the light novels. He was simply just being himself, and girls flock to him, understandably due to his feats.
The Phantom Bullet arc in the anime looked like he wanted to score with Sinon. A lot of people (especially non-novel readers) seem to think so, so I guess the interpretation has merit.
This could have been done much better. I was expecting a lot from my favorite arc in SAO, but this didn't deliver. UBW and Madan are shaming this in terms of adaptation quality.

Anyway. What a SHIT episode. Seriously, this anime is sooo full of itself. No other anime than one that knows itīs popular could allow such a shit-boring episode. I cant even decide what to complain about first ... falling asleep inside the game ... WHY? And why are they still meeting alltogether?! They gather in-game, half of them falls asleeps, and then they drink virtual tea. wtf.
But my personal "highlight" of the episode: Not only was Klein delegated to random side-character status, we also got our first glimpse at a new group of males ... FEATURING A CRAZY RAPIST SMILE. Seriously, this animeīs goal is to prove that all men but Kirito are worthless, ainīt it so? This is so freaking dumb, haha.
To make the clusterfuck perfect, however, we now have to swallow the news about a new group of players that easily overpower the almighty Kirito (even though heīs not using 2 swords, but whatever) AND that theyīd have earned the dual blade-skill, had they played SAO.
And donīt even get me started about their "original skill". The game either allows crafting or it doesnt. If it does, EVERY player could create original skills with 11, 12 or 100 hit-combos.

While not super exciting, I enjoy watching the characters just get a chance to hang out and not fight to the death. If they were just fighting all the time, it would be dumb.
Just so I'm clear, these are your complaints about the episode:
1) You hate the characters so much that you're only watching for action, and there wasn't any action in this episode, so it is "shit"
2) You don't understand why friends would want to hang out with each other
3) You don't like the cliche creepy rich male suitor characters that show up in several anime
4) You don't like the fact that someone can be stronger than Kirito
5) Original Sword Skills weren't explained well enough to answer your questions about it
I can understand #1 (though like you said, I have to question why you're watching a show where you don't like any of the characters at all).
#2, I really don't understand your complaint. I mean, if you had a super cool house to go hang out with your friends when you couldn't meet up IRL, wouldn't you do it? Isn't doing your homework in virtual reality way more interesting than doing it at your desk alone?
#3, stupid cliches are stupid. Luckily, these characters didn't even really do anything.
#4, being best out of 10,000 isn't really that impressive. The advantage he got from playing VRMMO for 2 years helped him through the rest of the arcs. It isn't that surprising that someone could be better. Though Kirito doesn't fight like life was on the line and we know he likes to play down his strength.
#5, hopefully they'll explain later why OSS are so hard that what Zekken does is super impressive.
I liked this episode. I also like Asuna, so that helps. The hunch is of course, that the Zekken fellow is after Asuna.
What I don't understand is why there's a Trap Kirito in the ED. We just confirmed the fact that these guys can have alternative accounts so it can be as simple as that. Maybe Asuna rejects Zekken by saying she's a lesbian, and then Kirito is forced to date her while being a girl? I'm sure even MFauli would like that.
1.) Currently, Im watching SAO for action scenes more than anything, yes. However, Im not at all opposed to slower, quieter scenes. BUT I hate scenes that add nothing to the ongoing plot. The 2-3 episodes at the wooden house in season 1 were the low point of the series back then. Now we had to suffer through an episode with the sole purpose of reminiscing that time. Thatīs out of character imo.
5.) I sure hope they do some proper explaining.
It IS odd that Klein is the only one not hanging out at their house. Maybe he's on a date with Skuld.
Anyway. I kinda liked the first half of this episode. Kinda gave me the feels.
Second half was obviously just setup for what's coming up.

There's nothing odd about it. Because if he was there, he would be the odd one out. Four girls who all love Kirito. That's what I'm thinking as well. It doesn't really matter if she has those meetings. They can just politely turn down all the applicants afterwards. It will generate less ill feelings than turning them away even before they have a chance to see Asuna, as if they (their families) weren't good enough. Even Asuna's old man, whom we haven't even seen, can't be so stupid he wouldn't realise that allowing Asuna to marry the hero would be less bad than having tabloids write how the heiress was forced to leave the family to avoid an arranged marriage. @Mfauli - Finally caught up with the thread. I wanted to give some short answers to your questions.
2) Sleeping in game - I'm pretty sure they fell asleep while hanging out. It happened to almost all of them in that scene. None of them logged in just to sleep...
4) Kirito losing - He didn't dual wield. He also was not owned. The enemy's HP bar was shown as close to empty, though not critical red yet. Fights like that can go either way.
I think people will take your opinions more seriously if you don't exaggerate too much. Some of the things you said have merit, but they are overshadowed by the nitpicking.
I'd take his opinions more seriously if every other thing he said wasn't so rapey.
I'm with MFauli on this one. I get that it is their little digital clubhouse, but seriously, if you're in the game and falling asleep or taking naps, sleep in the real world. What a waste of time. You spend time in MMOs to grind, "sightsee," enjoy the "story," or hang out with friends while grinding, not idling in game while sleeping at your desk.Quote:

The only part of this episode I truly enjoyed was Asuna struggling to find wifi in Kyoto. That's something everyone with a cell phone can relate to.

I really don't understand your "God Kirito" rant. He is a fairly normal person, and there are plenty of other normal-ish characters in the show.
If anything, you should be complaining about how SAO is basically an exploration of "Introverted nice guy is super popular" which isn't really the case in the real world. But this is anime, so this shouldn't be very surprising.
Kirito probably could have beaten her with dual wield and skill connect, but showing off in front of large crowds for not much of a good reason isn't really his personality. I would also imagine the thing he asked her about in battle was more of a reason that he went easier on her than her just being a girl. Even if he was going easy on her because she was a girl, you're still exaggerating way too much.
Bitch all you guys want, but I still really enjoy the action sequences in this show.

There isn't some magical age where we mature overnight and become an adult, but for the purposes of legislation we say it's 18 (sometimes 16). When someone is capable of understanding and appreciating the implications of their decisions, they should be allowed to make them.
My age comment applies more to the "dictator" part than the "wasting good parenting" part, the latter is way too subjective.
Your use of misery is interesting. Children are miserable when they're told to do homework. This goes all the way until.... highschool? Some insight/foresight is required to see the true benefit of homework/learning, so I don't think immediate misery is a good indicator of what is good or bad parenting.
If you meant that there is a certain age when a parent can still one-sidedly dictate whatever a child should do, then my answer is never.
Discussion and compromise will likely result in a better solution. If discussion is impossible (because the child is too young and immature) then it is slightly more complex, but it is obviously different in Asuna's case.

I agree that Asuna shows she is capable of making her decisions and at her age/mental maturity discussions are necessary. Legally, there are some double standards. At very young age where discussion is not possible, parents can made medical decisions for children as you've pointed out. Regarding Zekken, I seriously hope sheīs not an NPC. That would be so boring. Itīd be much more interesting to find out why some player was able to exceed the "worldīs limits". With an NPC you can always say "well, they can access the very structure of the gameīs properties", so it makes it unspecial. Itīs why Yui fortunately is a side character only. But a human player that could hack the game like Yui? That would be awesome.
So I hope that Zekken turns out to be a total nerd who spent so much time in this world as to explain her mad skills. Although itīs bullshit how many beautiful girls are mmorpg nerds in the realm of anime (looking at Log Horizon here, too lol).

Regarding the "learning" thing, there isn't actually much to learn. It's like saying:
"I picked a partner for my daughter and he turned out to be an asshole. If I choose another wealthy person for her then he must also be bad. That means either:
1) All wealthy persons are assholes, or
2) All people I choose are assholes."
It's much more reasonable for her to think that it was a one-off chance that resulted in a bad person. The one incident where the fiance was bad doesn't actually support the logic that she should change her ways. That's generalising too much. The reason she shouldn't choose for Asuna lies elsewhere.
I don't like Zekken too much. She sounds too much like a trap. Whenever I hear her talk I hear a little brother.
Yuuki (Zekken) is voiced by Yuuki Aoi (lol), probably most well known for her role as Madoka. In this, she sounds closest to her role in Symphogear as the main character, which is definitely somewhat boyish.

There's just too much drama with her. In SAO the first arc it was a whole lot better. Then she was just another damsel in distress with issues. Now it's family issues and more cliche stuff. It started to look like this arc is dedicated to Asuna's personal development, but then when Kirito made his sudden appearance to save the day (which could hardly be called a surprise), this episode suddenly felt like it was slowly built only to give Kirito yet another moment to show his superior quality. I'd call it a pity if this show deserved any expectations in the first place. Since it doesn't, it's all the same. I guess, at the very least, this might help Asuna to solve the issues within her family by giving her some minor insight. Though I still don't see why she doesn't rely on Kirito at all.
nah, the spontaneous boss battle will cause her to forget about the 6 pm cutoff time, which will lead to her mother taking away the device from her. This will lead her to some dramatic depression (because no internet is a real reason for that!!1) and finally call Kirito on the plan to pay her mother a visit. Kirito will then kill the mother with a katana and the arriving police will congratulate him for being such a nice boyfriend.
