I dislike the usage of "free" with psn plus, since you don't actually own it; the moment you stop paying for psn plus those games go away too.
I'll always have + for the cloud saving, so that doesn't really affect me. It's the only way to backup encrypted saves.
Three day weekend. Drank every one of those nights. Never done that before.
Feels good man.
Did you get Yom Kippur off or Columbus day?
Man I've been searching and searching for this scene from Oliver Beene for years. It was a "Wonder Years" type of sitcom on FOX back in 2003-04 where a kid retells his life in the 60s. He meets a black kid at school and accidently hurts him, so his parents invite the kid's parents over for dinner and hilarity ensues. Besides lines like, "do we serve our food or their food", there are plenty of gems in this show.
The best line and what has been tickling my memory for years is when the Jewish dad asks the black dad (who works at the parks department) if he knows this other guy. The black dad gets mad and says "oh, just because we're both black, you think we know each other, is that how you think it is?!" To which the Jewish dad answers, "no... he also works at the parks department". To which the black dad sheepishly replies, "oh yeah, I know him... he's a good guy."
Went to a choir concert the other night at school and saw many of my students from last year singing.
I wake up at 3:00am every morning to go to the gym, and work well beyond the school day ends. Being at school at 8:00pm to see the concert meant going to bed an hour late for me - getting only 4 hours sleep instead of 5. The singing itself was tedious and amateurish but I felt what I assume only proud parents feel when I saw my old students on stage. While I was there, most of the parents around me talked loudly while the choir groups were singing. I could barely hear anything. I asked the parents next to me to quiet down during a song dedicated to 9/11 victims and received a ghetto-head-bob and eye-roll in return as they continued to talk loudly.
After the concert I shook hands and hugged my students from last year. One of them screamed "MISTER!!" like a kid on Christmas morning and squeezed me so hard I nearly got knocked over. That made it worth it.
Absolutely.
I made vanilla bean ice cream with my girlfriend and it was delicious. It was the first time I've ever attempted ice cream and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it came out.
No'amor Gadhafi :]
Now its time for our 4 biggest oil companies to move on in there and show NONE of the free oil profits to the people of either country and somehow not have to be taxed on any of it.... what can we do? We the people don't run the country, the Oil Companies tell us how its gonna be or else we don't get to use their sweet sweet oil.
Watching the newest episode of Tosh.0, they have a segment with some of the most disgusting things you've ever seen people do... but they show the audience reactions and there are some really hot girl-next-door type women in the audience of Tosh.0 recordings.
I teach at a Ninth grade campus. So 14-16 year-olds.
I thought I'd hate it, but in the end they're young enough to make an impression on (and to assert authority over) and old enough to form a good relationship with. My favorite students are not just kids I teach, but really cool and intelligent people.
The Simpsons Arcade Game classified in Australia
That made me smile. I've been wanting this game to come to XBLA for years and now, it looks like it's finally going to happen.
Australia has a stupid system about which games can be sold and which can't, right?
what's the deal with your people?
What isthe dealwrong with your people?
I was acting like a mad scientist today in lab. So now I want to make a series of lab instructional videos for Organic Chemistry etc. on Youtube.
How often do you follow through with your crazy schemes Sapphi?
When have I not?
After 2 hours on the phone i managed to bargain my way from 30.99€ to 20.99€ monthly for my Internet service.
I feel a strange sense of accomplishment...
You need to learn to take a compliment.
I did a similar thing when I called AT&T about a potential fee before I signed up for their Uverse service. They ended up waiving the fee for 6 months, so I saved $60 from a 5 minute phone call. Previous to that, I called them to cancel internet service because I was unhappy with their service and ended up getting half-off monthly service for 6 months, a $105 savings.
Finding out that someone broke into my car while I was walking my dogs, who stole a total of 2.34$, a half pack of pack of menthol cigarettes, and a Dir En Grey CD I got from their Family Values tour with Korn. The part that made me smile was the police officer who told me the suspect dropped their wallet full of ID in my car while rummaging through my backseat; Karma for the win >:D
So did you get it all back?
Stupid people who steal with ID.. reminds me of the guys who broke into our shop at 3am to steal.. then reversed their car towards the front of the shop to make moving goods easier. Because of that, the camera got their registration plate (and the car wasn't stolen).
I just gave the student I mentioned in this post a "job" helping me organize my classroom, file papers/assignments, and do light grunt-work while I let her listen to music and chat to her about life while getting some work done after school myself.
She's really grateful but could totally make more money working part time for minimum wage. I can't pay her much but I really need the extra help.
I didn't get my stuff back unfortunately, but it wasn't a big loss on my part anyway I'm just glad I didn't leave my phone oranything in the car it could have been much worse. It just brightens my day to know how dumb some criminals are :)
She may not make as much as she would at another job, but atleast she got to choose her own boss, doesn't have to deal with "customers", and if she were to strive for a teaching/substitute position after post-secondary education it would look good mon her resume. Its a win-win for both of you in my opinion.

By coincidence, I got escorted home from lab for about 10 blocks by about 600 raging 99 percenters and 40 cops. I was all, 'inb4 tazed bro'.
No one got tazed.
Yeah, today was a big event for OWS. I'm kind of upset that I wasn't able to attend.
I tutored the son of my teacher for half a year. That was... interesting..
Did anythinginappropriateinteresting actually happen?
I can't believe I misread 'son' as 'child.' I am not interested in knowing what the ellipsis in Buff's post meant anymore.
EDIT: posted this before I read the comment from Buff above.
I just wanted to clarify. It has nothing to do with being reasonable (appropriate/right/whatever you wanna call it) or not.
So all of us have either done extra work for a language teacher or are language peoples employing students.
Since posting gay things became the new hippy/cool.
I smiled because we got a special Two For One deal today at the buffet dinner I went to. Furthermore, it was much improved compared to my previous trip a few years ago. Perhaps it's to attract customers in times of lower economic activity (and they'll try to make up for it with the casino), but I had a shit-ton of prawns, Moreton Bay Bugs, smoke salmon and oysters that I totally didn't expect to be there.
The fact that I managed to hit the right spot (full, but not I-don't-want-to-eat-for-a-week full) made it even better. I have a nasty habit of overeating when I go to rare and tasty occasions.
Managed to get some pretty awesome deals for Black Friday and i didn't even have to leave the house or get in line.
Apple's Australian site sent an email earlier in the week telling me there'll be Black Friday Specials. I was all excited thinking such a custom would come to Australia, and was hoping to pick up either a new smartphone or a laptop.
Turned out their "discounts" weren't even 10%, and no discounts on the iPhone 4S. I was a sad little buffalo that day, but Skyrim eased some of that.
Google Offers is selling $40 Newegg gift cards for $20. I bought one and used it to get House of the Dead Overkill for PS3.
That made me smile.Quote:

Noooooooooooooo I'm too late!
Didn't really smile, but I was able to meet my neighbors for the 1st time last night. They are 2 young women who seem friendly.
I flat out ignore them, do the whole "gaze upon the horizon" thing when i walk pass them. They either think I'm rude or possibly autistic.
Inb4 "little do they know, you're both"
I do the bins for my neighbours.
If memory serves, your neighbours are also your family's neighbours. Your opinion is only valid once you finally hit the road and leave your folks to eat the dust, finding your very own neighbours to either ignore, treat with rudimentary but cold politeness, or be friendly with. Or even hate.
I experienced that on Black Friday, Buff. After hours and hours of Skyrimming, when I went out into the real world with all the idiots and fools, I was very disappointed that I couldn't run a sword through anyone who got in my way.
Just saw a Pileated Woodpecker in my backyard woods, poking around a bunch of logs. For size comparison, these things are the size of large crows. I'd seen glimpses of them before flying through the woods, but this one stuck around for a good twenty minutes, so I got a real good look at the underside of the wings and it thwacking away on fallen logs and dead stumps.
Very cool.
Best Buy having Saints Row: The Third on sale for $39.99 made me smile. I wasn't expecting that, but it worked out perfectly for me. They are having a buy 2 games, get a 3rd free sale and I needed a third $39.99 game. I ended up with...
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 - $39.99
Dead Rising 2: Off The Record - $39.99
Saints Row: The Third - Free
Product Total: $79.98
Reward Certificate: -$10.00
Shipping: $0.00 (Store Pickup)
Sales Tax: $4.90
Order Total: $74.88
As much as I hate working fulltime, I just got an amazing job offer.
Federal boob inspector?

Pffhahahaha!
So.. what's the job offer?
awesome salary and equity in a +$2B product.
Tebow continuing to troll the NFL made me smile.
Last night I saw Girl in a Coma in a small venue. I was about 11 feet in front of singer Nina Diaz and my heart ached with longing. She's so cool. I said hi to her after the show but couldn't say more than a sputtering "Really great show".
They ended their set then came back on for an encore and played their cover of Selena's Si Una Vez. Everyone went apeshit:

Wow, she's purdy. Not a fan of tatted chicks, but I'm sure it fits her lifestyle.
My friend asked for a $50 dutch oven pot for Christmas. I got her a $250 dutch oven pot instead which requires less maintenance, is easier to clean, and will last her the rest of her life, possibly until she gives it to her child as a family heirloom. The fact that I could upgrade for quality without worrying about the price makes me smile.
how could you afford that 200$ price jump?
Working extra hours instead of sitting on my lazy butt playing Skyrim like I'd otherwise do. I'd work regardless. If I didn't spend the money on this present, it would just go to savings and do nothing.
If she still doesn't put out after that one I'd move on bro.
Let's just be happy he got her the cookware, rather than just giving her a dutch oven while smoking pot.

Christmas makes me smile~<3
I got dressed to go out for dinner tonight. This year's summer has been really cool so far, and tonight it was lower-mid 20C (8C cooler than previous years) in my part of Australia.
As I walked outside with a shirt and some jeans that I haven't worn since spring, I felt really weird. I did not remember my pants feeling this way. I could not describe it.
Five minutes passed and I realised I felt like I wasn't wearing any pants.
It felt airy. My jeans felt baggy.
For the first time since starting my diet one month ago I felt actual results... and smiled.
I thought he was going to say he realized it was a dream... like one of those nightmares where you're not wearing pants.
Checking in to say I also read that he wasn't wearing any pants.
I've been watching the 90's animation series "Gargoyles" lately, and I've just heard a familiar sound.
Misnc, from Baldur's Gate series, is there. "your help is not needed. Go for the eyes, Bronx, go for the eyes!"
As cheesy as it sounds, spending time with my family and later with my girlfriend's family for Christmas really put a smile on my face today.
Watching the new Makoto Shinkai movie.
It made me cry, but made me smile after.

Reddit is pretty cool, i should browse it more.
I would be super pissed if I got outsniped by a 86 year old woman. I'd rather not know.
Camping and sniping sounds just right for an 86 years old woman. Not awfully lots of running, awareness, and fast reaction times needed. Just a little bit of experience to know when to pull the trigger. I believe this applies to any shooting game.
Good review, yay.
Well damn...that is some unbelievable talent. That review just made me pick up that show subbed by the sexy people of gotwoot.
I recently rediscovered the joy that is American consumerism at a Sam's Club (like Costco). The last time I went to one was something like 7-10 years ago and I don't recall the prices, selection, or quality being that great back then. Now, all 3 are awesome!!! I've been 3 times in the past week or so and spent over $100 each time, shopping for one.
I just enjoyed part of a 1.5lb block of smoked gouda cheese... delicious.
I just had an intense emotional discussion completely in Spanish and was told that I was very wise by my non-English speaking friend.
Really cements my progress as a language learner that I could handle complicated shit like that. I'm proud of myself.
pat yourself on the back and get a beer.
Yesterday I got an email from someone at a huge marketing/PR company saying she got my resume from some other person I had interviewed with. I called her and talked to her for 10 minutes, and she had me fill out an online application. Literally 2 hours later someone else from the company calls and starts asking me stuff, and I just figured that it was a follow up. About 3 minutes in, I realized I was being interviewed for the position I had just filled out like 120 minutes ago. They actually wanted me to come in for my 1st "in person" interview, but it was too short notice, so I scheduled it one Tuesday. That was the fastest response I have ever gotten from a job application, and this position would be what I really want to do at a very well known company.
Sweet, good luck. I hope you get it and godspeed.
Me too, thanks!

I ordered Mafia II from Amazon. The product features clearly states, "Includes all of the downloadable content available for the standard edition, adding more than double the original gameplay. Featuring new storylines, new playable characters, and new city-based quests with leaderboard challenges."
I was expecting the Platinum Hits version, but that's not what I received. I tell Amazon about this error and they overnight me another copy. Today, I received the original version again. I start a chat with an Amazon rep named Cristina, and she decides to give me a refund and lets me keep the game. :)
Quote:
Cristina: I'm sorry for this.
Let me see what I can do.
Me: Can you verify that you guys even have the one with the downloadable content like the features say?
Because they've sent me the original twice.
Cristina: Oh, I'm sorry for that.
I'll be needing more minutes to research on this.
Me: k
Cristina: I'm really sorry for this.
Would you like a replacement or refund for the item?
Me: Do they have the one with the downloadable content or not?
Or is the original all they send?
If they don't, then they need to change the product features.
Cristina: I will forward this to our higher department so that they can remove this on our website.
Me: I want a refund unless I can get the one with the downloadable content.
Cristina: Alright, let me now process the refund for you because I'm afraid that you might get same item. You don't have to return the wrong item.
I've successfully processed the refund for you. I'll send you an email confirmation about this.
Me: k
Amazon sounds awesome. They need to come to Australia sometime. :(
I was checking off students' papers today with a red pen making whip sounds whenever I made a check mark. Got called a dork by this one girl who meant it as a strange compliment.
"I just said you were a dork, Mister."
She said it's cool that a teacher can be "that way".
