Fainting can be a weird experience. You start off by losing your vision slowly, then your hearing becomes "muffled," then you lose your balance and strength in both your arms and legs, and finally, your breathing becomes heavier. As time passes, you regain your vision, but your hearing becomes "amplified" for a while (it returns to normal), and the after effects still remains, like your weakened state.
I completely agree with you, Nadouku. I experienced it once, but it was exactly as you say.
Today I'm learning how to play "Seek and Destroy" on guitar.
That's not at all how fainting went for me. It was more like waking up from a nap.
I was sitting in a chair waiting for a nurse to stick an IV in my arm, but she kept missing the vein. Soon there was blood everywhere, and the next thing I knew I had forgotten where I was and was dreaming of falling through a gray abyss. Then I felt hands underneath me as I jolted awake, and as my vision became clearer I saw several nurses lifting me back onto my chair.
Felt like I had been asleep for hours, but really it was just the 2 and a half seconds it took for me to slump forward out of my chair and fall towards the floor.
Yours seems more like how a traditional KO goes (shock faint)
I've had similar experiences when doctors miss the vein. God, that must be painful.

Yeah, most of my passing out is needle-related too. Generally, I'm ok if I don't watch, but if I see the needle, it's over. Last year, I had to get an IV for the first time, and I knew before they started that it was going to be troublesome. I knew I'd be fine if I just ignored it and didn't think about it. So they put in the IV, and left my by myself in a little room saying they'd be in soon to get me. I could feel that IV in my arm, but there was no way I was going to look down at it to confirm its existence. My inner monologue went something along the lines of...
Don't think about the IV....don't think about it....think about something else....like knitting...what am I going to knit next? Maybe I'll design a hat with- there's an IV in my arm crap CRAP you thought about it, don't think about it....what are these grey spots in front of my eyes? Noooooo, don't think about the IV....something else, think about- my ears are ringing....losing consciousness....maybe I'll be ok if I lie down, I think this chair reclines- crap, don't look down! Don't look at the arm...ok, breathe, think about kittens
...and so on. I managed to flag down a nurse to get the recliney mechanism on my chair figured out. I'm usually fine with blood and injuries, as long as they're not my own.
On a different note, I learned today that a little bit of alcohol has been scientifically proven to aid in learning another language. So, feel free to have a drink or two before watching anime if you want to improve your Japanese. :P

Well i do have problems with needles, i would never let anyone use it on me, if i would be watching. I love that show. There was an episode that tried to show how powerful Katana were, so they reconstructed a human body using some material, and had this grand master try and cut through it in one slice.
He couldn't do it so he ended up just going apeshit on it for about 15 seconds. Brilliant.
They also confirmed Muy Thai to have the strongest kicks of all martial arts.

How to eat Nigiri-Sushi & sashimi:
Nigiri-Sushi: Dipping the topping only into your soy sauce, then place it in your mouth upside-down. ie, fish down.

Soaking in soy sauce with the rice, and forming a mix of wasabi-soyu paste is supposed to be incorrect. Many people do it that way, myself included.
Today I learned how to link to a specific spot in a youtube clip.
You simply add #t=(x)m(y)s to the end of the url, where (x) and (y) represent numbers.

Today I learned that a 2850 with a BMC configured to do IPMI over LAN with a static ip but no DRAC will keep the ip address you assign it and respond to arping, but will not respond to ping or anything else that nmap -O throws at it. Also that it'll do that over the primary network interface, taking the next MAC in sequence from the nics themselves. (eg: if the last octet on the two physical nics are :37 and :38, the BMC's hijacking of the NIC will be on :39).
I hope that this helps someone other than me and my officemate, at some point in the future. But I doubt it will.

Well, washing dishes never became so much harder than before. I reached in to pull something out and had myself cut (through my washing gloves). It was quite painful to continue washing so I decided to let someone else finish the job while I applied band-aid to the wound. I looked back and saw that a yoplait (after he pulled it out) was sitting at the bottom at the dishes, with 3/4 of its foil cover still on. I never knew that foil could be so sharp, but I guess I know now. :o

Paper cuts are pretty hard to come by, but foil is just plain easy, since they just tear right through your protective skin. Doesn't matter where it cuts, it'll cut.

I just learned about that course today and that's pretty sweet. However, the course credit might be very low, in the 1 or 2. Still, it would be a fun class to attend.
I don't know, a class full of dorks and geeks? Might as well join the engineering department. This is one reason I'm not looking forward to taking Japanese 101 at uni. All of the otaku dorks and geeks will get obnoxious real quick.
I always find it interesting to find out other peoples' impressions of me, although today one of my friends, or I guess more accurately a friendly acquaintance, met my sister, and told her that he was glad to talk to someone who "says more than 5 words in a conversation". I'm not really sure what to make of this remark. I mean, my sister is generally quite a bit more extroverted and expressive of herself than I am, but I didn't think I was all that reticent. Why don't extroverted people understand the value of companionable silence?
So yes, I learned today that perhaps I should make an effort to be more talkative.

Silence tends to make extroverted people uncomfortable the same way the that introverted people can get uncomfortable or even tired by extended conversations.
My friends and I still enjoy annoying the hell out of one of our friends by abruptly cutting off the conversation simultaneously. After about two-three minutes he'd completely flip out and start babbling nonsense to kick start a conversation again. It works best in a car.

That's a life lesson that a lot of people I've known over the years took entirely too long to learn... minus the sappiness.
I don't know how many people I know who stuck with the wrong major in college for 3, 4 years longer than they should have, until they eventually failed out of the program entirely. But at least 5 come to mind, and they all ended up walking away from college for a while with tens of thousands of dollars worth of debt and nothing to show for it.
I was in that same boat, spent 5 years at 2 colleges, changed majors halfway through, ended up quitting school but with only about $7k in loan debt. Left for the work force and a paycheck. Soon I'm going back to school with a little more direction, more resolve, and money in the bank.
I'd say no matter what happens, going to school is good for you and you leave with something to show for your struggles: valuable life lessons.
Some of us just really screw ourselves over with the majors we choose. I have been going to college for 5 years, I tried to get my journalism degree but that was just personally a bad year, and I realized I hated journalism. When I flunked out 2 years after I moved to the state university, I took a couple years off and came back to major in CIT in January, having to pay out of pocket so I can get financial aid again next time around. I am enjoying it though; for a while I thought I just wasn't a college "type" but that's simply unacceptable when you have no skillset or job connections.. I'm not going to make a couple hundred a week slaving for the man like I did in my time off.
One of my roommates hates his current major. He's a 5th year senior and hates Chemistry so much, but has been sticking with it just to graduate. Although, he has got a pretty clear plan ahead of him after he graduates, so it seems he's fully aware of the lesson Nadouku described. Sometimes you just gotta do things to get them done.
I wish my future were a little more concrete. I guess I just take the message that "there's more than one path" to its logical extreme, to the point where I have no focus whatsoever.
The medicine that my doctor prescribed to me to see if I get better is Prednisone, and as helpful as it sounds, it contains a lot of other side-effects which includes but not limited to:
- increased blood sugar for diabetics
- weight gain
- facial swelling
- depression, mania, or other psychiatric symptoms
- unusual fatigue or weakness
- mental confusion / indecisiveness
- blurred vision
- rash
- increased appetite
- hyperactivity
- frequent urination
So far, I've only felt about a fraction of these symptoms, like increased appetite and hyperactivity. The doctor tells me to take these to help against my inflammatory disease, or the severe allergy that I'm going through right now. It's kind of helping, since they are slowly clearing away.
Today i learned how to change strings in Floyd Rose bridge hard way, damn i had guitar tuned perfectly and now surprise - i have to lower the springs of the bridge because tremolo would not work. Once again tuning, and surprise i have to move bridge a bit higher because strings when strummed would hit frets. Once again tuning.
With experimenting to find correct way to do this it took only 3h.
Next time I'm going to use the same strings so i will change them one by one and i won't have to rise/lower bridge and change springs tension.
If you want to do it and not waste much time just:
-remove and attach strings
-set up springs in such way that bridge is parallel to the body when there is tension on the strings
-move bridge up to prevent strings from hitting frets and make buzzing noise
-tune(EADGBe for standard tuning - and make sure to fine tune the bridge so on 12th fret you get same notes but octave higher)
- repeat tune until all strings are tuned perfectly
and remember to tune by ear and only then correct using tuner.

This was actually a while back, but it's good to keep an extra copy or two of anything. I tried to print my paper off, but the bloody thing didn't print at all. It just sat there, chilling, and constantly spamming error messages. So then I make changes to my paper, save it, and... my file disappears. I gacked, but remembered that I kept another one elsewhere and rushed back to retrieve. Would have been bad if I didn't turn that paper in on time.
Today I am learning about Torts and such in LGS 200 (Basic Legal Studies pretty much). And about how a girl can punch my face in if I pinch her butt in a bar and has the legal right to do so. There goes my weekend fun time :(. Also, I can't shoot someone who breaks into my house and tries to steal my stuff. I have to be "Fearful for my life," for me to have right to shoot him...

Shopping never became so educational before. I would always just throw anything that seems good into my cart and buy it all out. Now, I have to shop conservatively, and I've taken note of things that happen to be interesting:
A celery in the fresh isle section has more calories than say a packaged celery in the same section. However, this might be due to the nutritional values that it gets instead of the packaged one, where it just gets treated with... God knows what. Comparing alike things is the best way to save your money too because the packaged celery versus individual celery is not marginally big, but it's good enough to save about three dollars. (I.E. the 12-packed celery costs $5.99 while the individual celery costs $0.25). Not that it matters to me much since I buy the individual celery, but it makes me wonder why they would sell it at a higer price.

1) Today I learned that you can make lyrics of a song show up under the visualizer (in Windows Media Player 10) by:
Right-click file -> Properties -> Summary -> Advanced and placing the words in the "lyrics" box.
It works for mp3 files at the very least.

I think Junior would look freakin' adorable in glasses.
People are too careless with contact lens care. Basically you're putting your vision at risk by not cleaning them and wearing them properly.
