You're just speaking from a viewer's perspective, from theirs there have simply been a few troublemaker's with uncommon powers raising havoc from time to time.
A more pertinent question is why, in a whole city devoted to the pursuit of knowledge, nobody ever thought of looking into the level 0 who could disrupt any esper ability, even after said level 0 defeated the most powerful esper is a street fight.
Now either there's something grander behind that or i'll be thoroughly disappointed with the author's writing skills.
Graphics and fanboyism aside, the gameplay looks kinda shitty and that's really what makes the whole game.
Also, is it me or do i spy a spoiler in that video? :p
I would say a lot of the media squashing on the science side is due to Aleister Crowley (upside down guy in a jar). He controls a vast amount of the city. We really don't know how far (or into what fields) it extends, but if the ever-so-manipulative Archbishop begrudgingly treats him with respect, he is likely considerably her superior in a number of ways.
But here's the deal, everyone knows he got beaten by a level 0. Even street trash knows it, yet no lone scientist or freelance reporter looks into it? That's just blatantly strange.
You know exactly what i'm talking about smartass
Episode 2 of Season 2
http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/1...su20no20ia.jpg
gosh, I hope this arc will end next episode... it's getting boring
and I still don't like Toumas slogan and childish speeches.. hearing them over nine thousand times won't change that I guess
I have to say that the story is getting really bad in Index 2
there were so many things/side stories left open after Index 1
well, at least they evolved Mikoto's and Touma's relationship a bit.
Just finished the first series, and pretty much the 2nd half of the series was a piece of shit.
Will check out Railgun and Index 2 later, but not in the mood for it at the moment.
Wat? You hadn't even finished it?
But you were the one who was all excited to get it to the series in fuego and made all those threads...
Laura's a sicko.
I wanted more of Misuzu... what was the point of introducing her if she appeared so little?
Laura's sick. It was the only good part of this episode. She toyed with Lidvia's tendency to enjoy challenges by giving her an impossible one and making her take it.
Everything else? Orianna defeated without any backstory on her motives? Fireworks saving the day? Church not even bothering to research the events? Orianna just exits the story now?
Boo.
Even though I've been calling this my favorite arc, I have to say now at this point that the quality steadily dropped towards the end and this episode completely failed to impress me. What a pity to have to turn out like this. I agree on all of Bill's points.
Oh, well. This is but a case of my own expectations being far too high.
This was by far the worst part about this episode and arc. A true deus ex machina. It doesn't even get more textbook than that. That's how embarrassing the writing of the end of this arc was.
This is the worst part about it: Both sides were completely ignorant that it was about to happen. Touma's side was excusable for not knowing all the details of the cross, but at the moment they knew what time it was going to activate (and they did, a little after sunset) and what requirements the cross needed, Touma should have popped open his phone, beep beep beep beep beep and then walked away back to the Daihaisai. Tsuchimikaido too. I expected more from him, the schemer.
Perhaps more fatal of a flaw, Lidvia should have done twenty minutes of research. They knew coming during the festival was the right time to sneak in. They knew what time and where to put the cross to make their plan work from the beginning of the Oriana chase. She never thought to check to make sure no planes overhead, no blimps, no...I don't know, spectacular displays were going to occur at the same time?! I thought the impression we were supposed to take was that she was somewhat intelligent, that she would plan ahead to get around these kinds of things. Oriana was a perfectly executed distraction, a wonderfully abused pawn. But Lidvia never thought to check the schedule, because it isn't like it isn't plastered all over the city, in a flyer held by every adult, or accessible by any cell phone....oh wait, it was.
You guys make me feel like a troll for enjoying this episode, especially since i was the one dissing this very same arc you were all nerdgasming so hard for just a few weeks ago.
Not only didn't the animation disappoint we were introduced to a very interesting character ( which i hope survived her ordeal ) but it seems the plot to further Touma's abilities seems to be well underway.
Then again, maybe I'm just happy it's finally over.
After Oriana got knocked out, nothing happened. She was just there. What a sad way to end the arc.
Over 900 replies in this topic. We all must love our Index. :D
You mean Misakas, since there's literally loads of them in this show
Busty one, loli one, biribiri one, imouto one and another one. Another one is a spoiler so lets keep it at that.
I'm not even sure, Zell was the one who told me about her
Should we even be mentioning her?
No you shouldn't be.
Meh, lets say it's a little surprise to keep everyone interested in railgun even after that god awful second half
Interesting arc so far. Hopefully it doesn't turn to shit and drag on like the last arc did.
Orsola = Win
It just occurred to me that nuns would have milky white skin from that attire.
Food for though.
I didn't like Orsola when she first appeared because I assumed her hair was long.
There is something about short hair in a habit that is just inexplicably moe.
Orsola did have a pretty hot body and she was nicely slow to hide it. Index shouldn't have even bothered after that.
What I was wondering during the latter parts is how that obviously magically controlled ship was still operating despite having Touma on board. I guess it didn't matter anymore after it had initially materialized.
Leaving Index behind, hopefully was the rest of the arc, was a relief. I can't really tolerate her completely self-absorbed stupidness for too many episodes in a row.
But the last arc left Index out of the loop, and look where that ended up?Quote:

I'm by no means saying Touma would be much more intelligent, quite the contrary (like the not knocking incident in this ep proved), but at least he's less annoying.
I gues no one has any expectations anymore, right?
So let's get pessimistic and secretly hope for a good surprise ;)
I too was clearly trying to confirm his right hand was in contact with the ship. There are at least 3 shots I can confirm it happens. So I guess there's something to explain, as Kraco pointed out.
When is it we get more badass Kanzaki?
Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!
This is already shaping up to be a pretty awesome arc, even if it's reusing so many characters from the second one. This whole trip stinks of Crowley's handwork, though i wouldn't put it past the archbishop either, and with Index out of the equation i can't help but be excited with next week's episode.
this is probably the best episode in Index S2 so far, not really difficult but this was fun to watch and how this show should always be (or most of the time, I don't mind a few Comedy episodes now and then)
So maybe I missed something but can someone explain why Himegami threw a rubber ball at Touma in the beginning? I know it's probably inconsequential, but it strikes me as a bit odd.
ITSUWA :D!!!!
Yeah but I dont remember her to be the violent type
That actually does sound like a plausible explanation. And fits well with the theme of artificially trying to make Touma extremely unfortunate while in practice the natural looking cases make him look above average fortunate. Even getting continuously involved in all manner of trouble and fighting isn't ill luck to him because he has the strong hero mentality of needing to help friends and strangers alike, no matter the risks to his own person.
TL;DR: Having biribiri and co lusting for your cock makes up for any broken egs or bite marks from annoying loli nuns that may come your way
I'm happy to see Itsuwa appear :) (as if my last message didn't already say this)
But I'm also happy to see Orsola and Agnesse again... and that they left Index behind. She'll probably find a way to be annoying, but its priceless to leave her behind.
I ignored your spoiling of her name but at this point Kraco hasn't said anything so fuck it
Yeah Itsuwa is hot, she's appealing to me though i can't exactly pinpoint why. Maybe i just have a thing for chicks with spears.
I'm not sure but hasn't her name been mentioned already?
or more like screamed out already because she got hurt during Orsolas rescue arc
that guy with the sword was like "[INSERT NAME IN CAPS HERE]!!!"
and yea she's hot and more important (for me) cute. I call dibs on her
Itsuwa > Biribiri imho
edit: just realized her name is being said in this episode too
tch... if I knew she'd reappear I wouldn't have rooted for a Touma X Misaka ending.I hope she appears more often now and not only as a side character like the others... but its hopeless most likely, knowing that the Author(s ) doesn't have the balls to upset the community and change the female counterpart.
I'm a Touma x Misaka supporter myself but i don't really see it happening at this point, just this episode the fucker was complaining how he HAD to dance with Mikoto all night long... bitch must be teh gay
You don't claim Index, you shove her away to the next guy
If we are claiming them... then I'll claim Agnesse too. After Mikoto and Itsuwa of course.
But yeah... everybody shoves Index away.
FYI, i will duel Zell to the death for ownership of Misaka's waifu status
I might be an Endou Aya fanboy (Sheryl, Phylicia, Lena Sayers <3), but Orsola doesn't really do all that much for me.
I'd take Fukiyose Seiri over Orsola any day. Laura Stuart too, that evil bitch. Even then, even then, why would you claim any of them before Kanzaki?
I hesitate over Laura Stuart. Play one card wrong, and she'll have me either lick her feet or die..
But you'd get to play with her mounds of hair. You could tie her head tothe be-...objects. If you're a good pet like Stiyl, she might even let you comb it for her.
BTW... unless UTW's version said otherwise... I don't see Touma complaining about having to dance with Mikoto. Ayako's version said: "While I was being forced to folk dance with Misaka Mikoto, Shirai Kuroko delivered a drop-kick to the back of my head"
Unless you meant the part about 'forced' and his resigned face :p
I really like how attached thumbnails work now.
Mikoto's mom-after all she's under 40-, Kanzaki, there are lots of females of interest in the show.
It just reminds me we did not have any input on Mikoto's father when last arc was most appropriate.
I didn't even need the subs, his face alone made me want to imagine break his nose in
ITT people claiming waifu*s*
no true love here.. no true love man

YES I MAD
especially since you claim 3 women at once which proves that your love towards her (and the others) is inferior to what I feel for her by far!
So I was browsing through the Index Wikia (don't go there... its full of spoilers) and found this interesting pic from episode 21 or 22 in Season 1

The teleporter chic that fought Kuroko leading Tsuchimikado to see Crowley. Nice.
UTW-Mazui - Toaru Majutsu no Index II - 15 - 720p
Episodes 1-14 720p Batch
Edit:
- Episodes 1-5 have been Mazui-fied (default style, “Such misfortune” etc.) and had some minor errors fixed. These use the original encodes we had for episodes 1-5 as we no longer have the original .ts files to re-encode the first six episodes to include the eyecatch. Archivers of our version need not worry, however, as we will be doing the Blurays.
- Episode 10 received a new encode. No script changes were made.
- Episode 12 has been v2′d to fix two typos (one of them major enough to warrant it).
- All other episodes are the same as the weekly release versions.
Oh, good, the sisters are back. I do think I prefer the older clothing (especially Lucia's lace stocking harness which is now gone), but not much can be done about that.
Orsola's on the ball (and strangely so that that). She's good at decrypting so she can't be exactly dumb, but until now she's been sort of slow and non-perceptive. (eg, shower scene). That totally goes against what happened this episode with her tricking the guards and hiding their trump card against the Romans (twice). It simply contrasts so much with her normal character that leaves you wondering what is going on, but is not at all unwelcome. (very, in fact)
This episode was quite good. As Bill said, we get Lucia and Angelene back... plus a bit of backstory of those two and Agnesse. Its funny that their return coincides with the return of the Amakusa though.
Index works better informing things thanks to the knowlegde of her books, I can't deny that, but her scenes keep annoying me. She bit Touma because of something that happened while he was asleep? She's a bitch. The only good thing that came from her idiocy was Touma falling over Itsuwa (who's so cute giving Touma those towels and getting teased by the others) and Angelene flipping Lucia's skirt.
Touma clearly told Styl, back on the original Orsola arc, that if Agnesse ever asked him for help, he would help her. I wonder if the Amakusa heard him. I mean... of course Kanzaki's influence on them - to help those in need - came into light, but I was expecting just a bit of distrust among the groups (yes, Angelene and Lucia already decided to trust Touma and Orsola... but they hadn't said anything about the Amakusa... this probably happened while Touma was unconcious though)
dat bishop, he's like
RLLLLLUUUUSHUUUUU
but I wonder what made Lucia change so much, she has been a freaking maniac and fanatic so far but she seems a lot more calm now.
I was expecting the Bishop to go AAAAMEEEEEEN on us
Man, I was sitting here wondering why Bishop Biagio sounded so familiar to me. Then I realized he had the same voice as Cell on Dragon Ball Kai.
Yeah and Vegeta was blowing up planets until he wasn't anymore.
The line between good and evil is thiner than a grain of salt and redemption can be achieved in about 30 minutes under the right conditions regardless of how many people you killed. Welcome to anime, we hope you enjoy your stay.
ya but in fact even Vegeta went through certain events which made him change.
but here it's like there are 2 different characters which look alike.
imagine Touma changes from the "nice guy-i don't want to hurt people" to the "I kill everyone-even though they gave up already" type next episode, without showing what made him do that.
if I remember correctly Lucia had a serious psychotic problem when Touma touched her, only because he isn't a member of her church.
Nice way to end the arc (though I wanted Biagio to yell 'Amen') despite the inconsistencies. When Touma was fighting in the ship with magic... sometimes the walls/floor would dissappear when he touched them but in other times it didn't even when the right hand touched it (the stairs and when he was fighting Biagio)
I love how this time around the arcs are more conected with each other, since next episode looks promising.
Kaori, Orsola and Agnesse together? Oh boy.
The inconsistencies in both plot and animation quality prevented me from truly enjoying this episode.
Next week's episode looks like fanservice central and this new enemy seems promising, i'm looking forward to the following arcs.
The author should have come up with something else than full magic ships. Like normal ships with lots of magical enhancements that Touma could have neutralized. Now it was just completely inconsistent out of necessity.
But it wasn't a bad arc in my opinion, all in all. I'm sort of glad it wasn't because it's not like I hate Index because I want to hate her. Any arc where she's not utterly annoying is big positive character development.
Still, nothing could make me happier than hearing the next ep will present Mikoto+Touma interaction!
This part about Touma's powers has started to bother me recently. It's fine when he touches the effect of a spell or cancels out an effect caused on someone, but there was a part in his fight with Biagio where he literally just stuck his hand in the air from far away and it canceled.
If you compare this to Kara no Kyoukai and Tsukihime, where both Shiki's have a similar ability, they actually need to see and comprehend how something works to destroy it. It isn't always obvious for the two of them. Here, Touma just shoves his palm into the air and it is all undone. I couldn't take this arc seriously after that part. It was just too silly. Touma having remote cancel powers invalidated so many other previous events, especially the Daihaisai part where Fukiyose got hurt.
Touma is also the greatest evangelist of all time. He's converted so many girls and nuns to the Church of England in such a short time.
Tsuchimikaido picking on Kanzaki, priceless. We need more direct Touma x Kanzaki action.
I actually thought Touma managed to cancel the spell 'remotedly' because it was a wide area spell... but even if we tried to explain it that way it feels weird.
I blame the animation studios about this and would love to compare it to the original source, but I don't know if Baka-Tsuki has translated this novel as of yet.
I thought that his arm worked this time because it cancelled the "weight" that was on top of them all. Even then, however, it doesn't make too much sense for cancelling Orsola et al's weight since Touma himself wasn't affected when he walked into the room anyway.Quote:

Here's a little something to get everyone looking forward to next week
New OP: とある魔術の禁書目録Ⅱ
Not much really happened and yet... why do I feel as if this was the best episode so far this season?
:D
Mikoto+Touma scenes ended up quite few. The whole episode felt quite fragmented. As much as I like the Touma+Mikoto pair, in this episode it felt really stiff in a bad way, maybe because Touma was forced into it and he's not interested in any women unless it's to save them from evil (or to feed the endless glutton Index). I can't honestly say I wouldn't be disappointed in this part of the ep.
However, the Accelerator portions were nice. Even if this episode did underline the fact he's now depending on others, he still retains his amusing personality.
All in all this episode turned out mediocre for me, largely thanks to Kuroko, who takes responsibility for ruining Mikoto's long planned day (and any further Mikoto+Touma interaction). It's a small wonder how she can stay in Judgement with a gross personality like that. They must really appreciate her level 4 skills to overlook everything else.
Misaka as Misaka tells Misaka that Misaka does Misaka... Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka Misaka
Why doesn't this annoy me? It should!
Anyway continuity was fucked up yet again, last time we heard of accelerator he was already living with anti-skill but other than that i greatly enjoyed this episode. My only regret is that Kuroko got in the way of some awesome dere moments, but maybe we'll get more of those next week.
The new OP and preview indicate that Kazakiri Hyouka is coming back. I'm looking forward to that, her character ( or her very existence for that matter ) hasn't been properly presented to us.
