gmail is a email by google..its awesome..its got 1 gb of storage and you can search instead of sort mail..its amazing and all sorts of things..its got many many many amazing features..to many to list..
anyways the only way to get a account is to be invited..and you only get a invite by luck...i just happen to be lucky and have a invite to give....so if any of you are interested in it ill trade it for 1 month of japanese lessons..you could just email me and teach me how to speak basic japanese...this is a good deal and you wont be sorry..gmail is the greatest!

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I have some bad news for you. G-Mail by Google is in a testing period right now, and I have read that it will be ready for the public in a couple of weeks. So, I doubt that someone is going to exchange you a beta version of G-Mail for a month of Japanese lessons when they can just wait a couple of weeks for it to come out. It will be completly free and open to the public so there is really no reason for someone to take part in this exchange. Also, if you give your e-mail address to google, you can gain information about G-Mail and how the testing is going. You can do this here. They actually might give you a free beta account too if they feel its necessary. That pretty much sums up all I have to say

my "friend" says that they read your e-mails to see what kind of ads to put on the page.

There's this kind gotwoot forum user who awhile back was generous and patient enough to send me about three gigs of japanese lessons over aim. If you so desire, I'd be willing to share those lessons with you. I don't want anything in return either. So if I'm logged in whenever you get back, give me a PM if you see this and are interested. Otherwise, leave a message in this thread with an e-mail address if you're comfortable with that. Oh yeah, a friend of mine gave me a g-mail account. I love it already.

eww.....how often do you guys really use email anyway? im all about IM

all that email seems to get me is spam and viruses (which would be at least a dozen a day)

whats the point in emails? use an instant messenger prog if you need to talk to someone.... and there are always cellphones.... e mails arent needed anymore you can replace it with several other things.

email is like leaving people a note on their desk. its useful when you want the person to get a message or whatnot without seeing them online. also, in groups and such its much easier to just send emails than to add many people to your buddy list. it all depends on what you are doing

my friends are always online......the equivalent of leaving a note on their desk for me is IMing someone who has an away message up

i want something faster than email, like voice activated email that can use a headset.

You can't replace Email with IM. What the hell are you going to do when you need to send a message to someone living on the other side of the planet? Skip a whole night and wait for them to come on?! Ha!

Also when you log on an IM, you have a whole list of people who will see you and can talk to you. What if you only want to speak to one person, but all of a sudden, lots of ppl start talking to you? Block every single person down to the one you want to talk to? Feh. Give me a break.

IM is ok, but you can't replace email with it. Pretty narrow minded to think everyone is always on all the time.

yea but to me it seems like you have a pretty boring life if you got pen pals on the other side of the world(as long as they arent rl friends that moved or something) i can replace email with IM since i only use it to chat with my rl friends and one or two internet friends form my country. your second arguement are real bad, just tell the other friend that you are busy or something like that.

Meh, it's really annoying to tell like 20 people everytime you logon that you're busy you know? So it isn't such a bad point.

Not everyones relatives live in the same country as you btw.
