Kakashi is master at nin justu
kurenai is master at gen justsu
asuma seems to be a tai justu master
we cant say about gai cause he's from another year of genins
Where have i heard of the name sarutobi before... lol besides asuma...
It's a convenient way of showing all three fighting styles in action. Kakashi is actually pretty talented in all three types. Kurenai and Asuma may have some skills in the other types as well.
Why do you say Gai is from another year of gennin? There's no proof of this. We've never seen his 3 man team, so they could have come from any generation. Most likely he was the same year as Kakashi seeing as they are rivals and they seem to have grown up together.
If anything, it's Kurenai who is from a different year, younger than the rest, because they describe her as a rookie jounin. But again, there's no proof.
I'd say Kakashi is more of an all-rounder rather than a Ninjutsu specialist. His Sharingan gives him better-than-average Genjutsu capabilities, and we've seen him use Taijutsu fairly effectively at times.

Reason i said gai is from another year. I don't mean the year gai became jounin. i mean the year gai took in rock lee, neji, and ten ten. they r from the year before Naruto, sasuke, sakura, hinata, kiba, shino, shikamaru, choji, ino.
Gai is a master of taijutsu for sure. but he is the taijustsu master of the year before.
My theory is that's why only 3 teams out of the whole genin to show the tai, nin and genjustsus.

Kakashi- ninjutsu master but knows both gen and tai
asuma- tai jutsu master but knwos both nin and gen
kurenai- gen jutsu master but knows both nin and tai
(last year jounin teacher)
Gai- tai jutsu master but knows nin and gen

xxxxxxx- gen jutsu master but knows nin and tai

For all I know, Kurenai became jounin later than Asuma, the reason she is called a rookie jounin.

yeh just because kurenai graduated from the academy at the same relative time as asuma and them doesnt mean she got to be a jounin as fast, she could have just gotten jounin status lately, thus the rookie jounin. Reason being is u get ur registration number out of the academy with the headband, not when u lvl up. but good info collection neji-aniki
during the 1st part of the chuunin exam.....asuma and kakashi explained to kurenai who ibika was specifically because she's a new jounin and isnt really familiar with all the other guys.....therefore she's prolly the newest jounin among those listed
Anko seems like the youngest Jounin there. Wow Morino is only 27, I thought he would be around Shika's dads age.
But Kakashi is the most impressive, graduating the academy at the age of 5.
well hes "Special" as one of the guys said (dont remember which one said it)
just to mention the genins/chunin:
Naruto - Ninjitsu / Taijutsu - wanting to learn Jutsu's whenever he can - w/ Kyubi he can switch to a Taijutsu
Sasuke - Taijutsu / Ninjutsu - only Ninjutsu that compliments his Taijutsu... Genjutsu will come to him naturally with the eyes and Ninjutsu can be learned the same way
Sakura - Genjutsu - allows her to dispell sleep jutsu... and... um... ummmm..... OH! see through other peoples illusions.... ... but thats all (PLEASE MAKE HER A MEDICAL NINJA ALREADY)

I've mentioned this site lots of times. It's a really great site, with tons of great info on all things Naruto. She will also answer any of your (even stupid) questions if you ask her nicely.
Specifically that info comes from the Naruto Fan book, that has all sort of stuff, like birthdays, techniques and all. It's like 9 bucks but totally in Japanese...
She puts there also all the other people's number and age, Itachi, Sandaime all the Genins. I didn't put *all* the info here because it would be impertinent.

I think everybody who likes Naruto *should* read this site. Then again, just my opinion.
wtf! gai graduated from the academy at 7??? damn, that destroys my theory about him being a goofy idiot. oh, well.
and i don't see what's so special about anko, she graduated from the academy at 10, not much better than naruto. orochimaru should've went for kakashi, he has more talent than all those guys.
This is very much open to opinions. (I mean your whole statement). But I think Ino would be a great spy. But I wonder how far does her soul stealing jutsu will go to though. Kakashi might not have had any talent back then... I think he got it all from the eye much later. hes not known as 'the great kakashi who later got the copycat eye'
If I had to guess I would bet he was a goof who turned serious when his friends died... possibly because of a mistake he made... but there are plenty of theories on that.
Hmmm. I would think Kakashi's genius is his brain rather than his physicalities. Oro's going after Sasuke who isn't as talented as his brother because of the sharingan to copy every known Jutsu. Nothing to do with the talent. Just the sharingan bloodlimit.
Orochimaru wants to take over Sasuke probably so he can train and one day face Itachi, with the sharingan, which will give him a chance to win and therefore take over Itachi's body.

anyway, orochimaru doesn't need itachi's body anymore, sasuke has more potential than itachi.
