TV: Weeds
With season 3 just around the corner (in the US at least we in the UK don't get it till January) and the first 3 episodes already available via BT i thought id start a thread for this series.
For those that don't know what this is about, its about a women (Nancy Botwin - Mary-Louise Parker) forced to start selling marijuana i order to support her family after her husband dies leaving her with bill to pay and a family to support.
Andy Botwin (the hapless uncle played by Justin Kirk) helps as best he can with the marijuana business and the raising of her 2 children.....much to Nancys distress.
I love this series and have been waiting for season 3 for months
Disclaimer: I do not condone the use of marijuana (or any other narcotic) as a recreational substance

First 3 are already out?! I love the internet.
Weeds - 3-03
Weeds - 3-02
Weeds - 3-01
Nancy was in pretty deep shit last season finale, I wonder how she's going to get out.
-
Nice, been waiting for the third season. Will DL asap.
Edit: Watched all three. Damn I love this show.

Weeds 3-04

I have been very interested in watching this series, of course right after it comes on my parents decide to ditch Showtime and go for HBO, which has ZERO good series. I am going to have to download it and catch up on the first two seasons in hopes of watching the third one.
-
Well, season 4 started this monday i believe, one ep out so far. Its look promising. Nancy's moving up the ladder in the drug business.
-
I'm one full season behind with this series, better catch up.
-
It's pretty frickin awesome. Cecilia is like my favorite character.
-
Lol, her stint in prison should be pretty entertaining. Also it looks like she's gained a good bit of weight, I wonder what that's about.

Season 3 was lackluster, and frankly, kinda sucked. I only finished the last three episodes recently through OnDemand. It felt played out and lacked originality. There were some good moments, but it didn't have feel the first two seasons did. Shane was really pissing me off, a lot of the other characters just got boring.
That said, the first two episodes of Season 4 have been a complete turnaround. Everyone has just gotten really sarcastic, and the dialogue (which made the series in the first place) is back up to standards. Albert Brooks has been a great addition, and everything seems fresh again.
-
Example:
"Why are you such a jerk to me?"
"I'm not sure you're mine, I like to keep an emotional distance."
That was hilarious to me. Also, Cecilia really got pwned, but making her look like a mamasita? Wow. I feel bad for her. :( I liked season three though, but yeah this new season is kicking off great as well.

For me it was Nancy responding to Lenny while eating the food from the german deli that Andy got her and still smelling like gasoline.
Lenny: “My mother was at Auschwitz, for Christ’s sake. What kind of a monster are you?”
Nancy: "I’m a terrible shiksa monster here to terrorize your clan."
That had me going for a while, even more than all the terrible things they were saying to Celia.
-
How about, I forget the kids names but:
Kid 1: "That's because he's gay!"
Kid 2: "Yeah I'm gay, so suck my dick!!"
Nancy: "Wowww.. soo beyond gross.. "
That was probably the funniest "I just heard my kid telling his bro to suck his dick" response ever.
-
ya, i loved nancy's reaction to that....its almost like bad acting, except it plays so well with her character....like all this drug business has just fucked her up so much, she's drifiting thru life, not being phased by the little stuff.
-
Just got around to watching the first couple eps of season 4. It's been a while since I saw season 3, but wasn't Shane having delusions of his father at the end? I figured they'd expand on that and juxtapose it with Nancy being a shitty mother.
-
I kind of don't like that, "let's introduce something kind-of-supernatural-but-not-really to make the audience think!" bit that a lot of good realistic shows have. House does it all the time, Grey's Anatomy, Nip/Tuck and some others.
-
what supernatural thing are you talking about
-
I think Sapphi thinks that Shane's stress induced delusions qualify as kind-of-supernatural-but-not-really. However I would assernt that something kind-of-supernatural-but-not-really would at least be difficult to explain as opposed to the easily an explained case of "I miss my dad and get neglected by my moralyl questionable family members so I'm going to retreat into my own world where I'm happy and appreciated" syndrome not particularly unheard of in young people who lose a close family member and get neglected.

Just wanted to stop in at this thread having watched seasons 1-3 and up to episode 5 of season 4 in the last week. I'm in love with this show.
That is all!

I've decided I'm not liking this new season too much. Their attempts to insert funny, quirky dialogue into the show has multiplied ten fold. Nancy seems a little bored, rather than her probably attempted 'laid back getting out of trouble and exasperated' tone she seems to be attempting constantly. The uncle, I forget his name, seems awkward when he says his lines, which are usually 100% packed with something attempting at quirky and humorous.
