Are they planning 26, 52 or an indefinte amount of episodes? I am curious because I hope this is not like many the adaptions of quite a few anime's were the anime just falls so much shorter than the Manga.

it will be more than 26, 52 is a possibility but i think they will keep going with the manga.

As it is a Shounen series, there's no definite timeframe. Another factor is that if they intend to run with the manga in mind (which they have to date), anticipate non-manga storylines to pop up. There's still a lot of shit to go down, so it's feasable that this one could hit 100 episodes. Really, the random filler is the only thing to consider. I think they could do some decent stuff with sidestories and all, but that remains to be seen.

i do not mind the side stories of some series but on POT i hate the little people sidestories but bleach might have better fillers more character info and such the side stories on samurai champloo sucked as well

Well, this series would have probably been able to avoid side stories if they included some stuff in the manga that were not shown in the anime. Still, I'd imagine that this would go over 52 episodes. There's like 170 chapters at the moment, and the anime is around the 80th chapter.

from what i can tell... the current arc has little room to include full filler episodes... maybe some scenes can be added here and there, but that's about it..

Yeah, this show is somewhat fast. The episode with the Don guy (bwahahaha), that took up about 3-5 chapters, I think.

Yeah, they also cut out some good chunks in the Don episode to make it fit. Nothing too harsh, shit I'd say that didn't have much to do with shit. There's still obviously stuff they do away with in any manga-to-anime translation, but I still have nothing to gripe on. Other than this show needs to last up to 100ish episodes. Maybe a good sidestory movie, if done right.
