hmm hmm hmm mmm
All I need's my little sweet woman
and to keep my company, hey hey hey hey

Delfonics - Didn't I (blow your mind this time)
I gave my heart and soul to you, girl
Didn't I do it baby.... didn't I do it baby
Gave you the love you never knew, girl
Didn't I do it baby... didn't I do it baby
I've tried so many times and that's no lie
It seems to make you laugh each time I cry
Didn't I blow your mind this time, didn't I, oh
Didn't I blow your mind this time, didn't I,
Listen
I thought that heart of yours was true, girl
Now didn't I think it baby, babe... didn't I think it baby
But this time I'm really leavin' you, girl
Hope you know it baby... hope you know it baby
Ten times or more, yes, I've walked out that door
Get this into your head, there'll be no more
Didn't I blow your mind this time, didn't I, oh
Didn't I blow your mind this time, didn't I
Didn't I do it baby... didn't I do it baby
Didn't I do it baby... didn't I do it baby
Ten times or more, yes, I've walked out that door
Get this into your head, there'll be no more
Didn't I blow your mind this time, didn't I, oh
Didn't I blow your mind this time, didn't I
I got to live baby
Didn't I blow your mind this time, didn't I, oh
Didn't I blow your mind this time, didn't I

Mobile - Tomorrow Starts Today
(http://mobiletheband.com/web/audio/index.php)
Taking it down, so I won't know
Leave it around, so I won't know
Tell me how could you be sure
Turn it turn around
And turn it upside down
I gotta know, give me a reason
I gotta know, give me a reason
I gotta know, give me a reason
You messed up your last chance
Tomorrow starts today
Tomorrow starts today
Even if it breaks you
Taking your time, cause I won't know
Leaving me like, I'm safe from you
Tell me how could you be sure
Turn it turn around
I turn it upside down
I gotta know, give me a reason
I gotta know, give me a reason
I gotta know, give me a reason
You fucked up your last chance
Tomorrow starts today
Tomorrow starts today
Let's blow it all away
I know this for sure I know I can't be wrong
Stop pretending you're so good
Stop assuming that I would
Stop believing that I could
Stop I'll walk away from you
Tomorrow starts today
Tomorrow starts today
Let's blow it all away
I know this for sure I know I can't be wrong
And I think you know I knew it all along
I know this for sure I know I don't belong

I've had The Raconteurs new album, Consolers of the Lonely on repeat for the past 4 days.
The opening and closing tracks are probably the best songs I've ever heard from them.

Too $hort get of the stage bitch
I'm tryin' to do a show, I don't even know
Most of these niggaz, I came with some hoes
Hell nah they don't know me, askin' is he with us
Back in the day groupies was always bitches
Just throw 'em all 'cause you can't warn 'em
Why you wanna be on stage with me? You ain't performin'
I don't come to your job, tryin' to flip your burgers
I can handle this crowd, I don't need your service
You wanna be my dancer, you must be trippin'
If you ain't got big titties, why you up here strippin'?
You better take that shit back where you came from
Throw it up nigga... go 'head, bang on me
Just get off the stage
[Chorus]
Get off the stage bitch...
Get off the stage bitch...
Get off the stage bitch...
Get off the stage
[Too $hort]
You wanna hug me, and take pictures
Talkin' bout you love me, I like bitches
You jumpin' round like we rehearsed this
When I called the girls to the stage you was the first bitch
All in my ear, askin' bout a after party
I'm tryin' to do a show man, back up off me
Security shouldn't even get paid
I watched 'em push the ladies back and let these niggaz on the stage
They'll tell you tomorrow, exactly how it happened
They was all on stage with me, while I was rappin'
Gave me women and weed, then we dipped to the pad
But all that really happened was they made me look bad
Get off the stage bitch
[Chorus]
Get off the stage bitch...
Get off the stage bitch...
Get off the stage bitch...
Get off the stage
[Too $hort]
When all the rappers come to town you wanna stand next to 'em
What you swingin' on his nuts for man, what you doin'?
Go back in the crowd, and stand with your homies
I got niggaz out there and damn you don't even know me
At first, you was just chillin' on the side
Now you next to me, you must be feelin' alright
I don't lip sing, everything I do is live
Your name is Too $hort? Then motherfucker who am I?
Why you celebratin'? Raisin' both your arms
You gon' help later? You ain't makin' no songs
You ain't the manager, on the turntables
You don't dance for the group and you don't work for the label
Get off the fuckin' stage bitch
[Chorus]
Get off the stage bitch...
Get off the stage bitch...
Get off the stage bitch...
Get off the stage

Sixx:A.M. - Life is Beautiful
You can't quit until you try
You can't live until you die
You can't learn to tell the truth
Until you learn to lie
You can't breathe until you choke
You gotta laugh when you're the joke
There's nothing like a funeral to make you feel alive
Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?
I know some things that you don't
I've done things that you won't
There's nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home
I was waiting for my hearse
What came next was so much worse
It took a funeral to make me feel alive
Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?
Alive...
Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?
Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?
Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?

The Fool by Luna Halo
You say you're quite the actress
But I don't really know for sure
And it's hard to be rejected
When you don't know what you're living for
But talk is cheap
When your tongue is where your heart should be
Your lies have been detected
And I can't take it anymore
'Cause every time you say something predictable
It's the same damn thing I've heard before
I never thought that love could ever be so cruel
But every time we touch, so unforgettable
You know you turn me out, I lose control
It's like you know that it's my role to play the fool
The warning bells are ringing
I hear them start to take their toll
Your lovely eyes are changing
You're not the one you were before
You wear the mask
And we dance pirouettes until the sun is cast
The masquerade has ended
This charade is never going to last
'Cause every time you say something predictable
It's the same damn thing I've heard before
You've got to give me something I can hold on to
But every time we touch, so unforgettable
You know you turn me out, I lose control
It's like you know that it's my role to play the fool
'Cause every time you say something predictable
It's the same damn thing I've heard before
I never thought that love could ever be so cruel
But every time we touch, so unforgettable
You know you turn me out, I lose control
It's like you know that it's my role to play the fool
For you!
For you!

Paula Abdul - Dance like there's no tomorrow.
All I wanna do is stay right here on the floor
Get lost in the night
And dance like there's no tomorrow
Don't care about the sunrise
Somebody please just hit the lights
All I wanna do is dance like there's no tomorrow
Today just wasn't my day
Everyone's getting me so fed up
I've gotta find a way
I know what can make me feel better
Stepping out in my best
Looking hotter than ever
Wherever the party is
That's where I'll be in a second
I'm so ready to move my body
Forget about all my problems
When I hear that song
I'ma lose control
Hey, here I go
All I wanna do is stay right here on the floor
Get lost in the night
And dance like there's no tomorrow
Don't care about the sunrise
Somebody please just hit the lights
All I wanna do is dance like there's no tomorrow
I'm loving the atmosphere
Feels like I'm floating in heaven
The music's all in my ear
Taking over me
My heart's racing
Feeling so Hollywood
How I got everybody staring
Their eyes are the cameras
And I'm loving all the attention
Get up, 'bout to move my body
Forget about all my problems
They're playing my song
I'ma lose control
Hey, here I go
All I wanna do is stay right here on the floor
Get lost in the night
And dance like there's no tomorrow
Don't care about the sunrise
Somebody please just hit the lights
All I wanna do is dance like there's no tomorrow
Please DJ
Don't say it's the last call
Cause I know what it means
And I don't want you to play no slow song
I'm still building the nerve to talk to that guy
Just give me another song and make it right
All I wanna do is stay right here on the floor
Get lost in the night
And dance like there's no tomorrow
Don't care about the sunrise
Somebody please just hit the lights
All I wanna do is dance like there's no tomorrow
All I wanna do is stay right here on the floor
Get lost in the night
And dance like there's no tomorrow
Don't care about the sunrise
Somebody please just hit the lights
All I wanna do is dance like there's no tomorrow
Hypnotizing song...

GYM CLASS HEROES LYRICS
"Viva La White Girl"
Fame, fortune, platinum records.
It's every boys dream.
True story.
Somebody asked me one time.
Travie, you high.
You look high.
Shit, yeah I'm high.
Let's go.
The world is yours, so play the role.
Blow the dust off this record and put the needle down slow.
Our veins are cold, but we'll never grow old.
Let's have a toast, and raise our drinks.
No hearts on our sleeves, just eagles on our cuff links.
It's such a rush to know you love me so much.
We'll do whatever you want to.
Girl I'll make a movie star of you.
You know that I could,
If you let me be your Hollywood.
We'll get high, and hide.
We all lust to the glamorous,
white girl so fine.
Going up on the downtown line.
We'll get high, and hide.
We all lust to the glamorous,
white girl so fine.
Going up on the downtown line.
Take your razor, break down my line.
Put your nose to the speaker.
Now breathe in, breathe in.
Clean up your nose, and face the crowd.
Then kiss your mirror cause we're all stars now.
Isn't it fun how music makes your lips numb?
We'll do whatever you want to.
Girl I'll make a movie star of you.
You know that I could,
If you let me be your Hollywood.
We'll get high, and hide.
We all lust to the glamorous,
white girl so fine.
Going up on the downtown line.
We'll get high, and hide.
We all lust to the glamorous,
white girl so fine.
Going up on the downtown line.
Take your razor, break down my line.
Put your nose to the speaker.
Now breathe in, breathe in.
We'll get high, and hide.
We all lust to the glamorous,
white girl so fine.
Going up on the downtown line.
We'll get high, and hide.
We all lust to the glamorous,
white girl so fine.
Going up on the downtown line.
Can't get this song out my head.

Is Drink it Down available for download somewhere? I'd like to give it a listen.
edit: I just watched the video on crunchyroll (thanks anyway KrayZ33). It's like a lot of L'arc songs, too frenetic and unstructured and not catchy enough to stick. It starts out really cool and the horror music riff is kind of weird in a cool way, then it's typical Hyde screaming vocals set to some wild music. Not my favorite L'arc work.

Iwasaki Taku - Libera Me From Hell - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann OST
Do the impossible
see the invisible
raw! raw!
fight the power!
touch the untoucheable
break the unbreakable
raw! raw!
fight the power!
Power to the peeps, power for the dream
still missing piece scattering, so incomplete
we be the most incredible soldier from underground
see how easy, they all fall down
digging to the core to see the light
Let’s get out of here babe, that’s the way to survive, ya
top of the head, I’m on the set
do the impossible, don’t you wanna bet?
cuz, a lot of things changed, we be waiting in vain
if you wanna get by, no pain no gain
wow! fakers wanna test me again
sorry, my rhyme’s gonna snatch your brain, yo
I’m still starving for the straight up shit
we gonna make it happen with the crazy rap skill
get ready to rumble, now be the time, uh huh

Quando coeli movendi sunt terra,
Dum veneris judicare saeculum per ignem.
Tremens factus sum ego et timeo,
dum discussio venerit atque ventura ira.]
2nd verse dedicates to the real peeps
what we got to say is so real thing
cuz, revolution ain’t never gonna televise
kicking the mad flow, microphone phenotype
open your third eye, seeing through the overground
I’m about to hit you with the scream from the underground
whole city is covered with the cyber flavor
“G” is in your area, one of the toughtest enigma
[Dies illa, dies irae,
calamitatis et miseriae]

oh my god this could have been such a wonderfull song, but that women with her latin totally destroys it.. it doesn't fit in at all :( such a waste because it sounded so nice at first.. <3 that piano... but why did the make such a awkward refrain? they could bring in some drums n bass when the woman is singing again... or something like that.. i don't know.

That is how i felt at first too but it grew on me after a while. I appreciate the artist attempt at trying an original combination with some meaning in the lyrics that tie to the whole theme of Gurren Lagann.

Sweat drips in my eyes
screams of lust we cry
tonight you are everything
you're everything...
you're everything to me no more
as I wake from this perfect dream
I'll escape from Eden's walls
can I not stay and live this lie?
go away and I'll think only of myself
And to think that you would not be scared
or surprised if I'd severed all these ties
this is the end...
I'll lose myself in anguish for tonight
help me get over you
I feel so numb to see this bitter end of beautiful illusions...
would this be the same?
broken pieces will not mend to save our past now...go away...
I'll lose myself in anguish for tonight
help me get over you
one last false apology
help me get over you
Now we must let go
urgency overwhelms me as I must restrain my flood of tears
I refuse to be slave to your false beauty again
I'll lose myself in anguish for tonight
help me get over you
one last false apology
help me get over you
In my mind blood drips from your eyes
a beautiful last goodbye
Alesana - Apology
The accoustic version is way better and I am desperatly trying to find new music. Right now I am listening to alternative, post-hardcore/metal or screamo bands. I got bored listening do melodic deathmetal or anykind of deathmetal at all.
I'm so desperate trying to find new bands that I even started to listen to My Chemical Romance (The Black Parade)!

Breaking Benjamin - Water
What's all this talk of a notion?
I'd rather drink from the ocean
What did you mean when you said no?
I only want what is best for you
But I'll never let you drown
No I won't ever let you down
Cause I am my enemy
The water's up to the knee
I never wanted nothin' from you
Yes I do, yes I do
My engine's runnin' on dry
My head's so fucked up inside
Shut up
I know
I said so
There is no way to recover
You told me there is no other
The surface is getting hotter
I'll shove your head under water
But I won't ever let you drown
No I won't ever let you down
Cause I am my enemy
The water's up to the knee
I never wanted nothin'from you
Yes I do, yes I do
My engine's runnin' on dry
My head's so fucked up inside
Shut up
I know
I said so
Cause I am my enemy
The water's up to the knee
I never wanted anythingfrom you
Yes I do, yes I do
My engine's runnin' on dry
My head's so fucked up inside
Shut up
I know
I said so
Shut up
I know
I said so
Shut up
Cause I know

The Black Parade (I mean the song, I haven't listened to the full album) really grew on me last year. MCR is like Greenday for me, I can't stand their image but I can't help but love some of their music. It must be the heavy Queen vibe they give off.

Queen vibe?
Oh well, I do like their latest album and MAYBE some or their older stuff. The lyrics may not be the shit but I really do like their sound. It makes me feel happy-ish on sunny days to/from school.
By the way, the rap cover on Another One Bites The Dust with Queen SO FUCKING totally blows. I am not a Hippy-hopper but I atleast know what's good and what's not.

Their guitar player really resembles Brian May in his style and a lot of their "operatic" songs are like crappy modern-day ports of Queen's. Even their image is some weird incarnation of Glam-rock. A music blog I read one time basically said "They're like the Queen of this generation. The only difference is that Queen was good."
Also who did the Bites the Dust cover? I wanna say it was Lupe Fiasco, but I've never heard it. I'll consider giving it a listen.

The Birthday Massacre: Kill the Lights
This story's missing a wishing-well,
No mirror to show and tell,
No kiss that can break the spell,
I'm falling asleep.
Every prince is a fantasy,
The witch is inside of me,
Her poison will wash away from memory.
Chorus
We kill the lights,
And put on a show,
It's all a lie,
But you'd never know.
This star will shine,
And then it will fall,
And you will forget it all.
Verse
And after midnight we're all the same,
No glass shoe to bring us fame,
Nobody to take the blame.
We're falling apart.
Every story's awakening,
A flower for every name,
Their colours are paling in the falling rain.
Chorus
Interlude
Now you know it's so much better to pretend,
There's something waiting for you here,
Every letter that you wrote,
Has found its way to me, my dear.
You can make believe that what you say is what i want to hear,
I'll keep dancing through this beautiful, dilusional career.
Faking every tear,
Looking like a,
Compromised suicide,
Keeping all my dreams alive.

36 Crazyfists <3 (Hardcore/metal)
I love them. They keep doing amazing songs as they also may contain some lovley, heavy or emotional written lyrics. Their style is very open as they blend and mix with many styles, most knowing as emo, hardcore, melodic deathmetal/metalcore (later album).
His singing voice is just pure amazing, his screaming is terrific and the band as whole is amazing.
Even though I did download their latest album, wich has leaked, I'm off waiting in a Music Store and buy their latest album. And if I do get my hands on their two later albums..well...money well spend!!
If you do listen to most mainstream melodic deathmetal/metalcore, this group me SO recommend.
Let bearderd Alaska hardcore/metal men arise from the cold and melt our hearts with good music ^^!

It's becuse the newer vocalist's has "lighter" tone to his work. The course their taking is just plain fantastic. Their older stuff is just plain boring. Maybe two, three songs...

Because of how popular they are i had dismissed them as some standard shitty pop band before, but now that i've started listening to them i can see why so many people like them. I'ts also very different from the music I usually listen to (ie: power and progressive metal and such)

The great thing about Radiohead is, even with the following they have, they constantly evolve. I just downloaded a DVD of their MTV $2 concert, it's totally badass.

If anyone can't remember who Zooey Deschanel is, she was the blonde girl who Will Ferrel fell in love with in Elf (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9re6CQZGFw). She's got such a rich, jazzy voice. I think I'm in love.

I'm into Oldies these days. Just one of a few I'm in love with now.
Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)
Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)
(D. McClean)
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they did not how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand
For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left inside
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you Vincent
This world was never meant for one as
beautiful as you
Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow,br>
Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They did not listen they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will

Nomak - Translucent. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMNfay6tG7s)
It changed to Ghost ft. Abstract Rude - Basic Instinct. It's an upbeat trip hop track with a dreamy play of violins, trompets, guitar and some piano. It also contains lyrics with a distinct flow pattern, very well put together imo. Couldn't find the lyrics though, so typed them myself. Probably horribly wrongly.
Here's the link to the video and beneath it, my version of the lyrics;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jln5ckslSJ0
Lyrics:
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's..
Basic Instinct..
Can make ya think
It's what you do, not what you did
Boy grew up from a kid
Never knew what it is, was or gonna be
So if you don't live life humbly
You might feel a sting of a bumblebee
You tried it before but don't front on me
No more
Because I'm real inside, you'll never feel this vibe, we never get it right
We ignore
But still I try till the day I die to throw away my pride and
Be pure
But what I came here for is to relate to yours, to find force to
Orator
The story tells so I hope we jail when you can see me, mail
I'm on tour
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think
Not who you know, who you are
Everyone you know is a star in somebodies eyes
Not who you seem from a far
Too many drinks at the bar and it's dying inside
Try to find an escape, many times a day, I just ride the way
When the pressure sets in, I stress my best friends though I'm to blame
Because I know inside I've got to focus my ability so I
Can make change
Now there's no denying me, soldier, I'ma just hold the line
And take aim
With my goals in mind, I put in overtime, there's no game to find
With no pain
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's..
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think
Not where you from, where you at
Young and don't know how to act, yeah I've done that
Once, twice, a dozen times
Out late night with a cousin of mine
15, just taking out mom's car just to joyride and conduce some bars
So dumb and ignorant of consequences
But didn't get caught, what a bomb adventure
Karma came with a long detention
I tagged into school and I got suspended
I guess you never escape punishment
To all my old friends we should regain friendship
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think
Not why I've done what I did but why am I doing what I do
Cause I'm mad at the world, my girl and a gang of people
Then we feel angry when no one needs you
On love and you out the loop
But it's just paranoia to tell you the truth
Cause your friends still loyal and so are you
You're over the turmoile and born anew
Plan it all out, working impromptu
Can nobody tell you what you gonna do
It's your life
So if it's one to live, make sure it's all you get cause it's priceless
That's right
And to the youngest kids you gotta learn what is the right path to
Vend this advice
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think
The Do's and Don't's, the Will's and Won't's
Basic Instinct can make ya think

I've been listening to the Dune soundtrack (the David Lynch movie) with all the songs by Toto. The last song called "Take My Hand" is so damned haunting and depressing. In the movie, it plays at the end while the credits roll to a scene of rolling ocean waves with the main actors' names and faces displayed. I can't explain why it's so depressing to listen to this song.

Lyrics:
Sometimes
Mike Shinoda
Hybrid
I’ve been digging into crates
Ever since I was living in space
Before the ratrace
Before monkeys had human traits
I mastered numerology
And Big Bang theology
Performed lobotomies
With telekinetic psychology
Invented the mic
So I could start blessing it
Chin-checking kids to make my point like an impressionist
Many men have tried to shake us
But I twist mic cords in double-helixes
And show them what I’m made of
I buckle knees like leg-braces
Cast a spell of instrumentalness on all of you emcees who hate us
So you can try on
Leave you without a shoulder to cry on
From now to infinity
Let icons be bygones
I fire bomb
Ghostly notes haunt this
I tried threats but moved onto a promise
I stomp shit with or without an accomplice
And run the gauntlet with whoever that wants this
Chorus
High voltage
The unforgettable sound
High voltage
Bringing you up and taking you down
High voltage
Coming at you from every side
High voltage
Making sure rhythm and rhyme collide
Mike Shinoda
Akira
I put a kink in the backbones of clones with microphones
Never satisfied my rhyme jones
Spraying bright day over what you might say
My blood-type’s Krylon, Technicolour Type-A
On highways, right with road-rage
Cages of wind and cages of tin that bounce all around
Surround sound
Devouring the scene
Subliminal gangrene paintings
Overall the same things
Sing songs, karaoke, copy bullshit
Break bones verbally with sticks-and-stones tactics
Fourth dimension, combat convention
Write rhymes at ease while the track stands at attention
Meant to put you away
With the pencil, pistol, official, sixteen-line-a-rhyme missile
While you risk your all
I pick out all your flaws
Spin rah, blah, blah, blah
You can say you saw
Chorus 2x
Pharoahe Monch
Who’s the man demanding ya hand over your Land Rover?
No man’s bolder than the Pharoahe when he jams
Your plan’s over
I inflict sclerosis
The most ferocious
When I spy, my third eye is extremely high voltage
That’s why I need Ruby Quartz glasses
’Cause when I glance there’s a chance that I might blast the masses
Subliminals transmitted through piano
Integrated in flow
Calculated to nano
I use skills when I need
Please heat the rhyme I heal when I plead when I proceed through time
I walk through walls an inanimate obsticles
Via induced and the reduction of cells and molecules
I bring the knowledge
You swallow a steak
As a hologram
I box your head
Fatten your lip like Collogen
With telepath, deliver verses with no postage
Pharoahe Monch, Mike Shinoda
We high voltage

Watch how the child in you dies
Circles inside of your mind
There's is more than meets the eye
Life is more than meets the eye
Strange how you got it but you're still coming back for more
I want nothing
If you think that you got it why they're treating you like a whore
And I want nothing
Faking it all of the time
Conscience it cuts like a knife
When will you start to realize
We don’t have time on our side
There is more than meets the eye
Hits you right between the eyes
Strange how you got it but you're still coming back for more
I want nothing
If you think that you got it why they're treating you like a whore
And I want nothing from you
I want nothing from you
I want nothing"

I just found out that Jeff Buckley did a cover of The Smiths' "I Know it's Over". It's quite beautiful, and just what you'd expect out of a Buckley cover. Haunting voice and bright, flowing guitar coupled with probably the best lyrics in any song ever.

Me and a friend of mine were @ a girlfriend's home yesterday. We were just listening to some music and suddenly that friend came up with videos on youtube that showed where Timbaland gets his samples from. Some were just awesome!
Anyho, I discovered the original song that Timbo used for 50 Cent's Ayo Technology Ft. I've been listening to the Silversun Pickups lately. I fell in love with them after hearing their new single back in April, Panic Switch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG8fugqFn9Q). Everything about them is awesome, not to mention their bass player (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-euRuxOAcrs&feature=related), who I can't stop swooning over. The guitar solo about 3 minutes into that particular song really hits me.
Also yesterday I bought my first hip hop album. I had seen The Roots last year at a free concert without knowing anything about them and was completely blown away. I did some research and found that their most acclaimed album was Things Fall Apart. It's definitely not a pop album, and many of the songs are rooted in jazz, which reminds me of some of the songs Killa-Eyez has posted in this thread (which are all really nice btw).
Here's one of the better songs off the album. Apparently DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jazz from Fresh Prince) helped produce this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ar3Plhe5cJ8&feature=related
Edit: Oh yeah, their guitar player is Goddamn amazing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVfD7uRwXHE&feature=related).

Alright everyone. No more contentless posts like this in this thread. If you have to say something like "that is all" then it's not worth posting about at all. I don't want any more posts in this thread with just the name of the band and song listed.
I'm going to start giving warnings to anyone who doesn't say something about what they're about to post. Even a few words, one sentence. Post the lyrics, tell me why you like the song, whatever. Threads that are basically just lists and don't promote discussion belong in the flame pit. Surprising as it may be, no one actually cares what you are currently listening to if you just list 2 words.
I want this thread to tilt in the direction of discussion.

Anyone that listens to Weezy or just likes rap in general should def check out this young lyricist. (he's gettin pretty hot now but no album yet soooo... still young)
Word is he was ghost writing for Wayne for a while, and its pretty obvious why. He actually just signed with Young money, wayne's label, so expect lots of collabo's with him. He's already got a few mixtapes out which are mostly just pro verses over sickkk beats, and a little bit of that "You know you the best" kinda songs. Thats one of his that the radio's been playin to death lately.
And if you have a vagina and ever watched the show degrassi then you'll know him as the black dude in the wheel chair haha
if you need some new jams you needa give drizzy a listen. just youtube him then once you know its off the chain grab the official mixtape 'So far gone'... can find it off google.

Hoooooly shit, I just discovered Del the Funky Homosapien.
Specifically I was recommended the album Deltron 3030. There is no song on that album that isn't perfect. I want to go back in time and slap my 16 year-old "I hate hip hop" face. I have never been so in love with the genre. These are my favorites so far, but really they're all good:
Deltron 3030 - Positive Contact (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oCXwl7XBiQ&feature=related)
Deltron 3030 - Memory Loss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iic-IsjzwxE&feature=related)
And the titular track is, for lack of a better word, fucking epic: Deltron 3030 - 3030 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7_jbluF0qo&feature=related)
If anyone ever listened to Gorillaz, Del is the rapper who appeared on the popular Clint Eastwood song. Even for people who don't really like rap, this music is so accessible. Give it a listen.

I was listening to the Metallica station on Jango, when out of nowhere a song called "implore" popped into the rotation. It's not Metallica, it's not metal or even rock. It's a song played on a pedal harp. It was absolutely gorgeous, just one of those random gems that really made week. So I googled around for a bit and found the artist who wrote and played it. She has a myspace page and goes by the name Caparina. Warning: the page is EXTREMELY pink. But it's worth it. The music is atmospheric, warm, lyrical, and relaxing, with heavy celtic influences. If that kind of thing is up your alley, follow the link below:

Rainbow from Emilie Simon.
There's a funny story about that one:
I was having a bibimbap in a Korean Restaurant in Versailles when that tune was playing.
I immediately asked what it was as I loved some far references to the 80s (the cure, bowie, kate bush etc...). The waiter promptly replied Emilie Simon.
Thing is she's a French composer/singer that is well known for "The march of the Emperor" that sadly didnot get the same sound track when reaching US shores.
I had to go to a Korean restaurant to get to know a not so new and unknown french artist. That shows how much I like music :D , or that I might be some kind of weabo...

I remember coming across Celldweller back in my high school years. I still have the self-titled CD on my computer. I used to have a friend that would make a lot of music in Fruity Loops, with inspiration from the fact that "Celldweller" is just one person.
Anyways, been listening to a lot of old Hopesfall (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hopesfall&aq=f) recently. The Satellite Years (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hopesfall+the+satellite+years&aq=0) and No Wings to Speak Of (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hopesfall+no+wings+to+speak+o f&aq=f) mainly, though The Frailty of Words (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hopesfall+the+frailty+of+word s&aq=0) has been played a few times. I didn't much like their newer stuff, so I won't link those.
Probably my favourites would have to be The Far Pavilions (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1qBPrKoRdk), Decoys Like Curves (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SuEcpucodo), Dana Walker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtdoDEEsMCg), and Escape Pod for Intangibles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTVrcs1MHJI). That last one isn't so much a song as it is an "interlude" or something of the like, since there is only two lines that are repeated... but I like it enough that I thought of using it as my sig for awhile.
After a friend introduced me to my previously-mentioned Dillinger, I started looking up "similar artists" and somehow came across Hopesfall. They have been one of my favourite bands ever since, with the exception of their newer stuff.

Still have not made it to a proper house club, but I have been listening to the new Bad Vs. Evil (Eminem and Royce da 5'9"). Its pretty solid.

Oh snap! That Fast Lane joint by those two is flamin'! Been a while since I heard mainstream artists rip it like that. Reminds me of Styles of Beyond. Thanks dude!

I'm just a sucker for complex, layered music with wonderful melodies and a melancholic slant. The way the male singer sings "only you..." during the chorus of "Angels Walk Among Us" reminds me of some other song by some other artist...but I just can't figure out which, and its killing me.

Yea, its pretty crazy...they came out firing on the 1st track, and I would say kept it going pretty consistently until that song after Kiss (I believe it is the one with Bruno Mars). That actually put me in a somewhat good mood.

I've gotten me the Deluxe version which features 2 extra songs and makes the album slightly better. The only real problem I got with it is the collabo on Lighters with Bruno Mars. I don't like his stuff.
But making me aware of Royce's presence made me dig up a few albums that went under my radar. Like his 2009 "Street Hop" album. Been listening to "Shake This" ever since. Big ups, rockmanj!

So I listened to A Simple Mistake first, and the verse vocals reminded me of Heart of the Sunrise (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsRdT9hwqGs) from Yes(at 3:54). Then your vocalist at the chorus(also with chorus effects on his voice) reminded me of Duran Duran’s “Ordinary World.” I like them basically, so thanks. See if you like this. I didn't like the post-break up sex song, but I absolutely adored every single other song linked in that post. That was an awesome 20+ minutes of music listening xD.
One of the songs I'm currently finding I have on loop a lot is Soraya (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0wN5uZ8Tr4) by a band called Animals as Leaders, which does progressive/experimental metal instrumentals. It's actually just one guy who writes all the instrument parts.
I've also been listening to a bunch of Nox Arcana (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMdLXh4EU88), which is basically creepy halloween/ dark ambient music.

I've been listening to Tha S.O Triangle's first single in over two and a half years, "and 7." I didn't really like it at first, but it eventually grew on me. I just wish that Bro.Hi, had kicked some rhymes as well. It almost feels like it could have been a track on Diggyism / Diggyism II.

I hated the song from that one Subaru commercial with the "unconventional wedding" silliness, so I looked up the artist so I could talk shit about him. Turns out some of his music is pretty amazing. He does duets with Zooey Deschanel in the band "She and Him".

I'm not bashing the song, because it's pretty, but the delay effect is what makes it sound complicated. He's not a virtuoso by any means.

I saw She and Him at ACL in 2010. Well worth the hour and a half wait out in the cold because of technical problems. I had never heard M. Ward's solo stuff before, though. Didn't imagine it would be so ambient.

I'm not sure at what point in a guitarist's growth in abilities it becomes accurate to call him "virtuoso", but this guy has a strong command over many techniques. If you watch some of his other videos, one of the few things that can be criticized is his command over the tone of the guitar. Even then...not that much if you listen to a few of the songs where drastic changes in dynamics are an important part. "Virtuoso"...maybe not, but he's definitely greatly skilled.

Poor bison(s). Cool tune, I like the electronica sound. Reminds me of Daft Punk. Maybe cause they're a french duo too?
As for what I'm listening to right now, it's a song by hip hop supergroup Haiku d'Etat. The group consists of already well known solo and group artists Aceyalone (known for his Find Out joint in the movie You Got Served), Abstract Rude (of Abstract Tribe Unique) and Mikah 9 (of the Freestyle Fellowship).
The song's called Coup de Theatre (as is the album) and the reason I like it is because each member gets a beat to rhyme to.
I like the first one most which is by Abstract Rude (I once posted a song by Ghost featuring him called Basic Instinct (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jln5ckslSJ0) in this thread).
He uses the phrase "To speak with an eloquent word is to, in essence, kill a mockingbird" which kind of leaves to the imagination to what it might mean and keeps you (read: me) thinking.
The complexity of both beat and rhyme in combination with the contents of the lyrics gives out this gray image of theatre.
Have a listen :cool::

As the school year begins, I am reminded of how truly unhappy I am to be working under my principal. The man is a bully and the school feels like a prison. I could write novels on how negatively he has impacted my teaching experience in only one year.
In typical fashion, I'm nursing my frustration through the feeling of solidarity I get listening to Morrissey. As a once self-proclaimed unhappy child, education is a theme in many of his lyrics and nothing rings more true than his descriptions of an abusive principal:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgNfTx9pGzA
Aside from the perfectly complementary bass parts in this song, I can't help but feel chills of outrage when I hear, "he does the military two-step down the nape of my neck. I wanna go home, I don't want to stay. Give up education as a bad mistake"
And then today I discovered this song, sung from the perspective of the teacher instead of the student.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Iy1BbYd08w
""Oh, you understand change
And you think it's essential
But when your profession
Is humiliation
Say the wrong word to our children ...
We'll have you, oh yes, we'll have you "
Goddamn Morrissey you are not me how do you know me??

I've always wanted to be a fan of the Smiths/Morrissey, but his run-on style of singing has always made it impossible for me. The melodies are infectious and his lyrics are no doubt deep and insightful, but his singing ruins it for me.
@rockmanj: I liked their Major Tom cover a lot too, but then listening to Peter Shilling's (original?) Major Tom made me prefer that version again. I like We Are Pilots because it sounds the chorus sounds like GlaDOS from Portal, as I mentioned. Though since the song came out in 2006 and Portal was released in 2007, the inspiration may have gone the other direction than I thought.

10 fucking years...my god. I remember the day I went to pick up that album like it was yesterday. I was working at a summer job near my girlfriend and her parents home. I picked up the record and listened to it on my way to work. My girlfriend came and visited me during my lunch hour. We ate then went to play some handball, had a great time. The soundtrack was ringing through my head the entire time. Hearing that song and realizing that it's been 10 years just brought that memory rushing back. I was so young back then :-(
