Heh, fun chapter. Not much happens, but the introductions were nice and it had some funny parts, like when Naruto gives Kakashi the new book...
And even though they don't look that much older, I like Naruto's look. When he's standing atop a roof with his arms open, it just works.

And it seems he did get to be like Jiraiya, according to... heh, how I love being able to read japanese. But I don't have time to translate now, so just wait for the Narutofan forums translation.

i got bored and whipped up a couple of stuff quickly in photoshop, i joined the top 11 pages and the pic of konoha together and improved it somewhat. there are blurry sections where the smart blur didnt work so well. the other picture is the page eight full body shot of naruto coloured in, could used some more time with the shading but got lazy, i like the new look at the moment as it doesnt look too stupid and the street fighter style headband is cool(i removed the swirly thing on his arm cause it screwed up).
all in all took me a bit less then an hour for all 3. i hate joining pages cause it ends up making me fill sections in cause of a bad scan i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif

Woo hoo! The wait is finally over! I think Naruto and Sakura looks good, though they haven't changed much, but at least Naruto is finally taller than Sakura. Can't wait to see the rest of the other characters, and hopefully Choji has trimmed off some weight.... he said something about training hard right?

Yup but the ultimate form they take is still the leaner form, with the butterfly type chakra wings. He looked cooler then anyway, but I guess being fat is one of the reasons he's special.

Tsunade: "Jiraiya... that Naruto... he's become more and more like you these past couple of years, hasn't he?"
Jiraiya: (again, not sure, but I think the jist of what he's trying to say is that Sakura's tempermant and superhuman strength make her look more and more like Tsunade)

Tsunade: "...all right! We're done with the reminicing. Kakashi?"
Kakashi: "Well, it's been a while. From here on out, you two, together with me, will undertake missions as a team. This is different than before. Now it is no longer 'teacher' and 'student.' You are shinobi of Konoha."

Kakashi: "Well, let's see how much you two have grown up. The rules are the same as the time when we first met. Come at me and take these as if you are going to kill me!"

Gets his ass wooped by kakashi. does ero no jutsu. once kakashi is mesemorized. naruto will do 10000 year of pain on him. kakashi kwarimi(we have not seen that in ALONG TIME). naruto does some time space 4th style speed. sakura is like aw What the fuck am i doing. goes after kakashi. in the end of the chapter.

After last night with the stuff that Inane did, I'm still not sure what exactly happened, but thats another story, i was curious about how hard it would be to do what they do. So i took some time today and transferred the translation from Obake here, and udanstraight.com for the parts he didn't have, and put them on the raw. Well, I hope for Naruto to simply not rush into the battle like a moron and having developed at least some little taijutsu skills. Sakura shouldn't already be at a point where she can use your medical jutsus on offense.

If they put some pressure on Kakashi, use a solid strategy and for god's sake behave like REAL SHINOBI, he will give them the bells. After all, it's an evaluation, not a deathmatch. They do not need to be able to own Kakashi, they need to show him, that he doesn't have to cover their backs all the time.

In the chapter where Naruto left, Tsunade commented that Sakura had made tremendous progress in 3 months. Come on, she revived a dead fish! Now its been 30 months and she's been learning the entire time. I wouldn't be suprised if she had some REALLY impressive medical skills.

hopefully naruto has below par tai jutsu still otherwise rasengan left and right. rasengan is pretty overpowered if you ask me since requires no hand seals so with enough practice it can be second nature, add in that most ninjas hit by it would die or be seriously hurt.
but i kinda want naruto to be a little more stylish cause in the anime he was a brawler no finesse just adapted to the situation as best as possible.

i think we are all forgeting about the important issue: the mission. what could be the assignment they are going on, will it be something that leads to sasuke? perhaps that akatsuki will interupt? the idea of this mission has me so excited. anyway sakura and naruto arent idiots anymore. to get the bells they will 1) take kakashi seriously and come with the intent to kill and 2) combine and concure. they wont completely own kakashi, but simply getting bells off of him will be an easy task for those that trained under members of the legendary 3

No one ever said that High-Rank missions had to be done in teams of four, or in teams at all. Imagine someone's sent to assasinate a Lord or whatever - will that person bring an entire team to a mission where they aren't likely to find enemie ninja?

I think the three-students, one teacher strategy works only for genin while they are getting used to ninja life. As they grow old, even if they don't pass the Chuunin exam, their jounin teacher leaves them and they continue doing low rank missions on their own as a team... that would explain all the oldies seen during the Chuunin written test.

Finally, think of Shikamaru's team in the get-barrel-Sasuke... it was one leader and four underlings, and there was no "guiding" jounin. That means that most ninja teams are formed by one (1) captain and a number of variable underlings.

Besides, Kakashi said it - these missions are not gonna be with him as a teacher and Naruto & Sakura as students, they'll be going out as equal Konoha Shinobi.

So maybe it's pretty much safe to assume that they'll be going out as equal-rank ninja (even though I don't think Naruto and Sakura are jounin-level right now) with Kakashi as their commander... kinda like what we saw in the Kakashi Gaiden, before Yondaime left - Kakashi was the commander but other than that he wasn't above anyone in his team, and Yondaime was still there (at the beggining) to get them out of tight spots and keep teaching them through actions.

What I'm surious about is what kind of missions they'll go to. They can't go back to weeding an old witch's garden or walking dogs, but Kishimoto wont send them to assasinate anyone, and they need to
A) Show the rest of the Genin. NEJI AND ROCK LEE, DAMNIT!!
B) Get the plot moving ASAP.




Other than that, Sakura has grown a butt. Does the Boob Theory apply to butts as well? Time will tell.

well if naruto are gonna fight akatsuki on his own or even have a chance of survival without jiraiya following him around all the time he needs to be stronger than kakashi the same goes for sasuke if he ever will beat itachi. so they need a serious power boost, in my opinion even stronger than kakashi.
