A new year is nothing significant to me. Wow, we get to start over the counting of the months again and add one more number to the year. It's all numbers and people are all hyped up about it. You don't hear people celebrating on the streets on the day when Newton came up with calculus, hahaha.

you don't get out much? or don't like to go out?

if they celebrated calculus, and it was a public holiday, i would. more times to get pissed..

we even get a holiday for the queens birthday. haha another time to get shit faced.

I'd have to agree with kooshi. New Year is just a number thing, it holds no real significance.

kooshi
Tue, 12-28-2004, 01:43 PM
Hehe, don't get me wrong. I get out from time to time. I guess my philosophy course really played a number on me with the whole "what can be considered value" and such and such. Not to mention the fact that I don't care for such things. Christmas is good since I can get stuff, haha, but anything else that just celebrates just for the heck of it, I don't see any "value" in them. Dunno if I made any sense there...
And thanks BoC! Another person who sees the way I do, hahaha.

So is your birthday. Try celerating it and having fun, you might just enjoy it. We only live once why not have fun while we can(I know there is a time and a place for fun but thats why we have holidays! heh)

I see holidays (christmas, birtdays, ect) as a time to enjoy company. This christmas, the presents I got were not making me jump up and down with excitment but everyone had alot of fun because we had alot of opportunityes to laugh. Go out with some friends or even stay home, either way, if you try and have a good time chances are you will see the "value" in these holidays.

Have a happy New Year everyone! i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

I haven't really "celebrated" my birthday since I was 10 or 11.

Mut
Wed, 12-29-2004, 01:55 AM
that was like 4 years ago for you. it's not like you're 20 so it doesn't even make a difference.

The point is not the time, but the fact that I realized my birthday is insignificant so I stopped celebrating it.

Wed, 12-29-2004, 10:27 PM
I just "celebrate" my bday so I can get free stuff, haha.
