Hmmm... well that crushes all the "Obito is still alive" and "leader of Akatsuki" theories. Rin must be a damned good medical specialist to transplant something like an eye that quickly. Must have been insanely fast because the Stone-nin was still standing there, you'd think he'd leave fairly quickly if he thinks they're all dead.

And I wonder how the eye will somehow progress to 3 commas? I would have thought it would be impossible to actually improve/upgrade the eye once it's been implanted.

This one chapter answers so many questions - and presents new ones too. I love it.

so kakashi does evolve the sharingan by himself even if he doesnt have the uchiha blood.....so it is possible for someone not from the clan to evolve the sharingan.....or maybe its just kakashi i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif

okay so i guess this means that... kakashi developes the third comma on his own. kinda cool but also not really following the story... if only selected uchihas get sharingan, how would someone from a different clan be even able to develope it... but then again, kakashi is a major badass so it's understandable. i guess then developing the sharingan isn't that much of a deal, i think it's only a matter of who can be born with the ability to have it. i think that would make the most sense.

i better not see any 'kakashi can awaken mangekyou sharingan' theories. cuz we KNOW that's impossible since itachi said only full blooded uchihas can awaken it.

EDIT: and yeah, rin must be a badass nin cuz she patched up junior kakashi in a hurry.

Sharingan is able to develop inside another user... since kakshi got it when it was 2 dot(pre naruto). and during the nauto he got 3 dot. if thats the case he should be able to get mangekyou. only requirement is to kill a close one. but side kakashi's close ones died he can't develop it

well I didnt see that coming, Obito dying reminded me of some book, where the dad got his entire right side crushed when he was working in a mine by rocks(cant remember the name of the book). I guess next chapter its "Chidori-Sharingan Time" that should be cool.

<u>Overall more or less this is pretty much the most beatiful chapter in the series, and Kishimoto deserves every form of "props" in history</u>

i dont see why cant kakashi develop the mange sharingan....he did evolve the sharingan himself to three commas even though he doesnt have the uchiha blood but i doubt that he'd be able to awaken it. so i guess the sharingan can be evolved but it cannot be used at its full potential.

I honestly didn't think Kishimoto would kill off a character with this extent of blood, gore and violence. (For Naruto, it's alot) If this isn't just an isolated incident, when the Gaiden ends and Naruto Z starts, we might be in for a treat. More mature ninja, probably more mature readers (in Japan anyway, not in this forum), and hopefully, more mature content.

At least this will be an end to the stupid Obito is alive (and simply on the basis that he is alive, he is DEFINITELY the leader of Akatsuki) theory. Only now we're stuck with "Kakashi awakened the thrid dot SOMEHOW, so he must be able to use Mangekyo in BOTH eyes!!!OMFGZZ!!!"

If Rin is going to die in the next two chapters, I suspect that is how Kakashi develops the third comma.

All in all, a great chapter.

I think the development of the third Coma comes with a relization of self, cuz thats what happened when sasuke had a relization that Naruto was his equal. I think when rin dies kakashi will relize that being a ninja dosn't mena following the rules or being loyal to your freinds it means losing all of those closest to you but never givining up to protect them at all costs. Somthing like that we'll see.

edit: This chapter had the most teamwork we've seen since Naruto + Sasuke vs. Zabuza... hopefully we'll see more in the future.

Agree on the teamwork bit, that part was just too good... Obito reads the enemy moves, blocks him and Kakashi attacks. Too bad they didn't think about, you know, FINISHING THE MORON OFF. That way we wouldn't have had Obito pancake for breakfast this morning!!

(Yes, I was having breakfast while reading the manga. It wasn't very nice.)

Well, so the Gaiden will end sooner than we thought... I checked Shueisha's calendar (the company that publishes Shounen Jump) and it seems that Weekly Jump (the one Naruto's in) will be published with almost no alteration during the holidays, except a week when it'll be delayed until monday and a week or two they take off as a vacation.
The Gaiden is being great and all, but I'm dieing to see the 15 year old genin.

it wasnt really that hard for the people who actually pay attention in this series i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif , anyway the only thing Im trying to figure out was why his sharingan eye was crying, it couldnt be from the surgery, but seeing how they're arent telling us how painful that surgery was now we have to keep that open. but I think it was just some kind of symbolism thing of the two becoming one, sort like those are the tears of Obito from being hurt like that

But they were like evil nin... Anyhow, I forgot that because I started reading the manga sometime around the Chuunin exam finals, so I only glanced through a lot of the earlier stuff.

Though that part put a perspective on how far Haku was willing to protect Zabuza, and after re-reading it, i found it a lot more touching.

I guess my new point is, its been a while since we've seen something of the gravity, and I'm hoping the series will continue that pattern. If I can't have humor in Naruto, which is long gone, I'll glady except a little more graphic violence. (I realize Kimimaro's fight was pretty gruesome too, but he was just one freaky badass monster of a Oro lover)

I didn't think Obitos death was all that gory- the way you guys talked about it, I was expecting some Gantz style dismemberment.

Yesh talk about rushing things. Rin dosen't seem like anything special how the hell is she able to instantly transplant the eye and connect the nerves with no tools what so ever. I hope things are explained better in the manga.

Err also, why does Kakashi adapt to the eye so damn quickly? Well now we have a definite explanation as to why he covers his eye all the time. He's not proud of his Sharingan since it's a scar of his incompetant arroganze. I really hope that Naruto Z starts up soon. The Gaiden story line is nice but I'm absolutly dieing to see the older versions of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. anyway.....i just thought of something....
I dunno if you guys noticed, but throughout the whole story from the zabuza arc to the betrayal arc, kakashi's role has constantly been going downhill. After being the main participant in the fight on the bridge, kakashi's next contribution was to pass on the chidori to sasuke, and then recently it was to do nothing but recover the unconscious naruto. He's been doing less and less for the series as it has been progressing, which led me to wonder why kishimoto would choose now to bring out the kakashi gaiden.

then i came to the conclusion, that it's probably because an additional element in this gaiden will be revealed that will deal with the present day story very soon. Or more specifically, we'll soon see a villian in this gaiden that will most likely live on (probably after killing rin) and quite possibly become that famed "akatsuki leader" everyone's been buggin about. What better way to give kakashi back his place in the limelight than to have an incredible enemy that he has already met in the past?

It's going to be a three year time jump. Jiraiya pledged to train naruto during that time period. Orchimaru can't get Sasuke's body until the three year time limit is up so what better way then to spend the time training Sasuke so his body and skills are more towards his liking (can you say snake summoning). Sakura has no excuse to do nothing but train since she's got alot of catching up to do. After Gaiden is over we'll probably get a big new chapter with a colored opening where we are introduced to the new Sakura (http://sdf1.cc/~sasusaku/cos_sakura_12.jpg), Sasuke (http://keyblade.net/sasuke/imgs/cosplay/002.jpg) and Naruto (http://multi.cosplay.ne.jp/cappera/cosplay/naruto_2.jpg)

Kakashi Gaiden is just fan service pure and simple. For years now naruto fan's have been dying for Kakashi's past and now were getting what we want. It would be nice if gaiden ended with a nice tie in to future naruto storylines but I don't think thats going to happen.

it might be a little cliche but i dont think he will jump strait to the end of those 3 years i hope we get some chapters with these 3 years summed up like 1 chapter per person and then an additional one for the other genin and the rest of the cast. you could bring in like kakashi and tsunade in the sakura chapter, maybe some kabuto in sasuke, only naruto and jiraiya in naruto chapter tho and in the genin chap like iruka, the konohamaru corps, kurenai and asuma.

I agree with what Assertn Failure said about the whole Kakashi gaiden arc somehow being tied into the present story involving Kakashi but I just can't picture Kakashi fighting off of revenge. Maybe he'll be given a S class mission to infilltrait the Stone village. But man A BOULDER crushing Obito. I think I sat there for about 3min shocked at what I had just seen. I hope the fourth gets Obito from under the boulder to give him a proper buriual.

He looks pretty well buried already .. I'd just push the rock further on top of him.. nobody wants to look at some half-flat jerk with one eye. Just Katon that wafer.

i don't know but i think it will be done in the gaiden, and soonish, i don't think there will be another flashback to show you how he got 3 dots.
or a little time jump, i think it will be around the time of rins death, which i think is coming soon.

Could be a good oppertunity for the anime . If the manga skips immediately to the 3 years after.
That the anime would simply progress without a big timejump.

bhaa, i was always hoping that Kakashi did something indecent to get the sharingan (like killing Obito and stealing his eyes in order to get revenge against someone), I can't see how Kakashi is\was an Avenger like Sasuke, besides the fact that he once had a bad personnlity similar to sasuke's...

other than that, I can't see the so called 'grusomeness' that you speak of, sure, it's nice to see someone die (unlike the shit which is chouji alive), but obito still looks normal, it's not like he's entirely covered in blood or that he's missing the right side of his body...

obito's death wasnt too gruesome, but i think people are refering to how the character was killed rather than the way it looked

speaking of inane's translation, what's a chackra blade?
knives wrote it down as white chackra, which is silly since the only way kakashi can generate enough chackra to be seen is with the chidori, and had it been white, we would've known about it, but chackra blade doesn't make much sense either, is it like a light saber of chackra? are we about to be invaded by a horde of +2 kunai wielding ninjas?
